History: Sultan was the eldest son of Azman and Ilynn and the grandson of former Alpha Soven. The pack lived on a relatively large, unnamed island near the equator along with four other large packs. The pack was lead in an absolute monarchy by Alpha Azman, and it was the second largest pack to inhabit the island. However, the pack had the largest and strongest "military" out of the five packs.
Sultan was formerly the crowned heir of the pack and was destined to become the new alpha. Like his father before him, Sultan was a renowned General in the pack's military during the infamous "world war" between the five packs, acting on a vision he saw in his youth that told him he would conquer the pack that resided in the mountains. He lead an attack on the pack which lasted over a year and a half. The mountainous pack were known for their defensive techniques that no pack had ever been able to break past their outer boarder. After a year and a half, Sultan and his army broke through the outer boarder. However, before they could break through the inner wall, Sultan's only son, Katsu, had been killed on the front lines. In his grief, Sultan had lost his fighting spirit and resolve and abandoned the siege, claiming that he and his warriors were exhausted from being away from home for so long. The siege of the mountain pack had come to be seen as a terrible dishonor and failure for Sultan.
After the siege, he didn't think it was necessary to directly turn home. Instead, he decided to take some personal time to recuperate and mourn his son. His soldiers were sent home with his second in command. During this time, Sultan traveled around the island, which turned into quite the spiritual adventure. Some say that he was searching for Katsu's soul. This journey had a profound impact on Sultan, changing his views of the world, allowing him to reevaluate and re-prioritize what was really important in life. Not only becoming a better individual but becoming even stronger than he was before.
As he returned home from from the siege, his father, Alpha Azman, died under mysterious circumstances. Although Sultan had been the declared heir of the pack, his younger brother, Osamu, had been appointed Alpha, apparently on the dying wish of Azman. Sultan had lost his desire for power and leadership after Katsu had been killed, so he did not fight for the title and Osamu took the power without incident. Sultan retired as a General at 5 years old, wanting to live a life of peace and prosperity, though still remained a highly regarded and respected member of the pack. That is.. until his brother exiled him a year after his retirement. For fear that Sultan might some day fight for his birthright, Osamu banished Sultan for "treason and insubordination" despite not having convicting evidence for either accusation.
In his younger years, Sultan may have been furious and fought against the unlawful banishment, but with his new views on life, he merely said his goodbyes to the rest of his beloved family, and left without a fuss. He had no one to blame but himself. He had chosen to allow Katsu to fight on the front line, he had chosen not to fight for his birthright and leave himself open for banishment. He was sad and disappointed, but couldn't be angry.
This particular unnamed island was not unknown to the human population. In fact, they had been talking about relocating a number of wolves to less populated areas in an attempt at preserving them. Sultan, being on his own, was easy enough to catch. They crated him up and flew himself and numerous others to the nearest ship to be taken elsewhere. They reached the ship with no hitches and it left the dock. Unfortunately, there was a storm that the captain hadn't been ready for and was approaching too quickly to prepare. Turbulent waters caused Sultan's crate to fall into the water along with several others. Thankfully, the anesthesia had worn off by then. The impact of falling to the water had been enough to crack the side of the crate and Sultan had been able to break himself out. Seeing a strip of land in the distance, he swam for dear life, reaching Anikira, exhausted, hungry, and alone.
Personality:"Endure. In enduring, grow strong."
They say that to achieve inner peace, one must endure great pain and suffering. This is certainly true of Sultan. He's been through utter hell, and came out sad, cynical, and wise beyond his years. Part of this wisdom is knowing that it is wasted on most. He's not one to go around spurting out advice and wisdom to every individual that he meets. Instead, he'll wait until he meets someone that he deems worthy of the knowledge that he has. From then on, he'll always be available for that worthy individual(s).
However, that doesn't mean it'll be easy from then on out. He'll never give someone straight advice. He'll talk to them in odd riddles, metaphors, and hints, believing that if they can figure it out themselves with a little push from him, they'll be better off than if he had told them flat out. He'll make bizarre demands, and do cruel, seemingly pointless things to those he's chosen to mentor. These things are not without purpose, however. Usually, the reason he does this is because simply giving advice hardly ever works, while tests and riddles do. If they are too stubborn to believe him, he may pretend to give in and give them enough rope to hang themselves with while he waits for them to come crawling back."Everything you do right now ripples outward and affects everyone. Your posture can shine your heart or transmit anxiety. Your breath can radiate love or muddy the room in depression. Your glance can awaken joy. Your words can inspire freedom. Your every act can open hearts and minds."
From first glance, Sultan may appear as a gentle, loving, grandfather-y, old chap. For the most part, that's true. Sultan has been through his rough and rowdy years of plowing full steam ahead into battle, wading into the thickest combat. He's made peace with his past and has accepted that he is no longer a hero. He'd like to live out his golden years in peace and tranquility, but that doesn't mean he won't kick some ass if he needs to. He may not want to, but he will. One of Sultan's strongest attributes is his protective instincts. He doesn't get attached to most, but the select few that have soft places in his war-weary, beaten heart, he will protect at all costs. Heaven only knows, he knows how to inflict suffering. They'll wish they never came within a mile of his loved ones. Before the death of his son, he was known to be much, much crueler as a General, and while he's changed significantly since then, he's still got it in him.
For the most part, however, he's easy-going, warm, wise, caring, generous, friendly, advising, kind, and some may even say humorous. He may be one of the most charismatic, personable, and intelligent individuals around. But always remember, that beneath the easy-going surface, lay a wise wolf, experienced in the ways of the world, a seasoned and wily strategist, and an incredibly strong and skilled warrior."Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let the pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place."
He believes in living life to the fullest, and following the path of one's own choosing, a firm believer in that everyone is responsible for choosing their own destiny. He's laid-back, he understands that there are things in life that he can't control, but he also believes that he is fully responsible for the parts he can.
In addition to being an old war dog, he's also an amateur botanist with knowledge about a wide variety of different plants.
