To hear that Micah’s opinion of her had not changed after her admission had the femme breathing out a quiet sigh of relief. She’d been certain that she would have seen scorn, anger, or disgust upon his features – but instead there was a gentleness, and a sense of understanding. And she realized perhaps it was because he felt the same way that she did, too. She loved Kairos – her parents were there, her siblings, and it had been her first home. But she hadn’t wanted the fearsome pack to define her when she’d struck out on her own, and with Micah it seemed as if it couldn’t have mattered less.
His teasing question followed and she relaxed further and Nimue grinned, unable to resist returning a playful question of her own. ”You aren’t having doubts already, now are you?” She asked, quirking a brow before laughing, letting the comfort that she felt in his presence show. ”I think that you’re…well, wonderful. You’re kind, you’re charming, you actually listen to me even when I’m blabbering – and trust me, that’s a feat.” She grinned, nudging her shoulder against his gently before still, simply allowing her side to touch his for a moment as she inhaled his scent, committing it firmly to her memory.
”You’re unlike any of the males I’ve met before,” she told him, her voice sincere and serious as she pulled back to gaze at him, her tail wagging slowly at her haunches. She cared little for how silly or girlish she might have seemed in that moment, and perhaps it was because a part of her already knew that Micah would not see her that way. After a brief pause the devilish glint returned to her eyes, and she let her cornflower blue gaze rake over him as she added, ”And you being handsome certainly helps, as well.”
