Mornings were not so glorious anymore.
When he was a pup, everything seemed so simple. Things were always new, and nothing was monotone in his eyes. Wonder was everywhere he looked at went. Every little butterfly, every little shift in wind caused fascination and curiosity in the young pup's eyes. Every word he heard, every voice he could listen... everything was magnified to amazing amplitudes. However, as he grew up, the world became duller than he remembered. Voices began to guide him into paths he did not know he would travel into, every day turning his view of the world darker and darker with every step. Seeing how words affected others made him realize there was much more he could do than just wonder and be silent about the world. He knew that he had the power to change someone. He had the power of making them love him or fear him. His father had sparked that curiosity in him, but little did Sabaoth knew that his innocent joke that he played on his sister about alligators would ignite something in Taranis.
The giant shadow walked throughout the shifting terrains until he found himself surrounded by a swamp called Dyndre's Swamp. The place was different, but well known and iconic to the island. He heard the distant singing of birds, mostly parrots, coming from the canopy of the trees above him. As he walked, his mind was silent, as it had been ever since he began to grow up. He had no idea why he felt so empty. His chest felt sometimes like it had a never-ending void, and his mind felt cluttered with many things. But, as he always did, he kept quiet, keeping in all these things to himself. He knew his mother would not be proud of this, but he didn't know what he would say to her. He felt sorry for being the disgrace of his mother, but he could not control himself. It was as if he was born this way.
In front of him, he saw a cream-colored figure of a small baby deer. The deer was clearly lost, and apparently it had been separated from its mother at some point. It had a broken leg, apparently from falling or something irrelevant to the case. The deer began to struggle to stand up when it saw Taranis approaching, but it was too late. With a loud thud, he placed his huge paw on its broken leg, making the deer scream loudly, his pain echoing throughout the swamp. Taranis looked at it blankly, his eyes showing no remorse, only morbid curiosity. He kept pressuring the deer's leg more and more until it snapped again, making the infant scream even louder.
Taranis looked at the deer as he removed his leg. It tried to escape, but the black demon simply pushed it from behind, making it stumble and fall on its face. Walking in front of him, Taranis went and bit its ear, drawing blood, making the baby scream once more. His heart beat began to increase, as if his body was asking for more. Grabbing the youngling by the neck, he began to pressure with his maw so that the air would slowly draw away from the baby's lungs. The infant screamed, trying desperately to escape. Taranis tortured him, sometimes letting him breathe and sometimes not allowing it. He let go of the baby, but the deer's terrified expession made Taranis hold back a chuckle. "Tell me, youngling," he said, sarcasm tangled in every word as he spoke, "did your mother forget to teach you to never wander too far away?" Enveloped in the adrenaline rush, Taranis kept forgetting for a moment that maybe he was not alone after all...
