Just the thought of having Avariella within his grasp made him rumble with appreciation. Just how sexy she looked standing so close to him. looking at him with her lidded eyes. Her innocence was even more appealing than he had thought possible. If he kept on this line of thinking he would never be able to keep his composure. Sitting down he did his best to keep her close enough to him for her to be just the slightest bit flustered. He liked seeing her that way, all hot and flustered. Her amber eyes looked up at him and he knew that if he continued to pressure her she would snap because of her innocence. She didn't know just how much his words meant, how much she pleased him physically. He ached just to be inside her. "I think you do know Avariella. The way you look at me, the way you wag your tail just enough to tantalize me, the way you nibble at my chin. It makes me feel so close to the edge." He shivered just to emphasize how much he needed her. Every little thing that she did was inviting him closer to her. Drawing him in until she finally had him where she wanted him. He was weak under her influence.







"I don't know if I will be paying attention to the sight of you. More so of the feel of you." He already knew that when they did decide to join together he would find heaven being with her. He had taken many females in his life, but he hadn't cared about a single one of them. They had all been nothing more than an experiment. The humans had forced him to take far more than he had ever wanted. Luckily for him he head never produced any children in the hell he grown up in. Instead all he had was himself to worry about. Now that he had settled upon taking Avariella he was determined to make their life together a good one. He would find a place where they could make and raise as many puppies as her heat desired. "You just make everything seem so easy. As if there are no worries or responsibilities. I could lose myself in you." He would probably never make a great dad, but he knew that whatever children they might have in the future would be lucky with her as their mother. He wasn't even sure if he could make children. All of his previous attempts had failed, but damn it all she made him want to try. Practice made perfect after all.

Ava wished that she could say that some of these feelings were just pretend... That she hadn't come to trust and need a stranger so badly... But she had. She needed him. She wanted him to claim her, no matter the cost. Pups? So be it. They could head east instead of north, find a nice den in an unclaimed territory, and start a new life together. Sure, a pack might have been a much nicer place to raise pups, but Ava wasn't sure that she was ready to be thrown pack into a pack. It had taken her so long to trust one wolf... Trying to trust many wolves would certainly exhaust her. Maybe, though, with Kade beside her, she would be able to trust the members more easily. The plans rolled through her head as her amber eyes gazed up at him. Such plans would't be needed, at least not for a while... But she wanted to need them. Needing them would mean having Kade, and that was all she wanted right now. Besides, it would be another few months before she would give birth... They would be able to settle down by then, right? Avariella watched as Kade sat just close enough to tease her... To fluster her. Her front paws danced slightly as she squirmed, though she didn't even try to focus on anything but him. He made her heart race, her scent stronger, her will weaker... She had to have him. She didn't care about the possibility of pups anymore. Maybe neither of them were fertile enough to have pups! That was surely a possibility. Of course, it was a risk that she didn't think Kade would want to take. Maybe he didn't like pups... Maybe that was why he didn't just claim her. The possibility of pups might scare him just as much as it scared her... But she knew that they would be so loved. Ava would love them with all her heart, and she was sure that Kade would, too... Even if he was not a fan of pups, she was sure that he wouldn't just turn his back on them.

His words brought her from her thoughts, and a small smirk played at her lips. She really was more in control of him than she realized. But, in a way, he was just as in control of her. His words... They were so smooth. They flowed effortlessly out of his mouth. And his body... So close and yet so far. She had to be closer. And so she moved, standing and slowly closing the distance between them, amber eyes so innocent... And yet, they held a knowledge that her actions were meant to drive him crazy. As she moved closer, she brushed her pelt up against his, tucking her haunches down as she sat before him, moving to lean her shoulder into him and rub her head on his neck. "And this? What does this do to you?" She whispered, her voice attempting to carry a seductive tone. She was too innocent for this... She didn't know at all what she was doing, but she was trying... She wanted to please him. She wanted to be all that he wanted. "The feel of me? My body pressed so close to yours..." Her soft words drifted off as she shivered slightly, the thoughts that came after being far too much for her to think of at the moment. She remained sitting, not trying to push Kade too much. He had far more control than she expected of any male, and she admired him for that. And while she wanted to push him, pushing him too much would result in him doing something that he had already said he didn't want to do. Not tonight, at least. His words lifted to her ears once more, and she sighed as she relaxed further. "I wish there were no responsibilities... That we could just stay like this forever... Doing whatever we wanted to." She mumbled, closing her eyes slightly. She wondered if more was to come of the night -whether that be teasing or even further, she didn't know- but if Kade was ready to settle in, she wouldn't stop him. Cuddling up to him... It was probably the closest physically she would be to him for a while... Until they were ready for more.

Kade had to stop this before he lost himself in their playful little games. What he had meant to be a way to get under her skin was backfiring. He was burning more than she was, her innocence acting as a barrier of protection over her. She was only just discovering the pleasures that intrigue brought. He knew better than she did, his own body had experienced the heady drug that was the mating ritual. He had gone too far and now he was going to pay for it. Her body brushing up against his caused him to almost whine in protest. Now he was feeling the pain caused by his erotic thoughts. He had given himself an erection thinking about how good she would feel beneath him and he was close to the brink of snapping. He could hear the blood rushing in his ears and he knew that if they didn't stop now there would be no stopping at all. Once the damn broke and he allowed these feelings to overwhelm him he would be lost in them. He would take her over and over again until he was no longer plagued by the smell that seemed to be teasing him even now. His body strained against him and his instincts were screaming at him to claim the body that she offered. She is already mine so why wait. I could claim her right now and satisfy the need both of us feel. He groaned loudly before moving to stand next to her his muzzle brushing her scruff. He could just bite her right there to keep her still and it would all be over.



NO! Growling low in his throat he moved away from her trying to gain his composure. "Avariella." He couldn't keep the want out of his voice, not now when he was almost gone. "You are just too sexy. I can't control myself. I need you to tell me to stop." Kade would in no way force himself on Avariella, but he was almost desperate with his need for her. When she said that she wished there were no responsibilities he took another step back. Then another. He needed rest, that was what would fix this. Then he would be able to forget his lack of control. Tomorrow they would finish the carcass and move on towards the north, at least then he could distract himself with the task of walking. "Avariella you need to choose your next words and actions very carefully. If you do not you will end up beneath me." His grey eyes bore into hers willing her to realize just how serious he was being. If she decided to push him a little more she would end up pregnant by the end of the night. "We have had our fun, now perhaps it would be best if we just went to sleep. We could both use the rest."

Avariella knew what she wanted... She wanted Kade, and she wanted him now... She wanted to feel their fur mesh together as he mounted her... His hot breath on her neck, his claws digging into her sides to hold her in place, or maybe even pull her closer. She had never experienced the feeling, but she knew exactly what she wanted. She wanted to feel him. She wanted to experience the wonderful feeling that mating would bring... She had heard about it, and now she wanted to know for herself what it was like... To join with someone you cared about. But neither of them were ready... They truly weren't. As much as she tried to convince herself that she would be okay with it, she knew that becoming pregnant now would be too stressful for both her and Kade. They needed a home first... They needed to be out of pack lands so that they were not seen as a threat or trespassers any longer. They definitely could not give birth to pups in pack lands. That would definitely not turn out well for any of them. As the realization hit her, she flicked her ears back slightly. They have to wait whether they liked it or not. His groan caused her to shiver, and she stood, wagging her tail softly. She had to let him take her... He stood over her, and his muzzle brushed her scruff. She tensed slightly in anticipation, preparing herself to hold his weight on top of her. This was it... All he had to do was take her scruff in his mouth, swing his leg over, and pull her under him. She wondered if he would be rough with her or if her would try to go easy. Her breathing grew slightly heavier as she waited... Waited for something that would never come. His growl reached her ears, and she tucked her tail again. He was fighting for control, and she was sure that he didn't have a lot left in him. She was pushing him to the edge, and she wasn't sure that he would continue to be as forgiving of her naughty actions.

He moved away and spoke, and her amber eyes flicked up at him. Say stop? She didn't want to... But she had to. They couldn't do this now... They had to settle. They had to stop this game of their's before it went too far. Both of them knew that they weren't ready for the possibility of her being pregnant... But there was also the possibility that she wouldn't even conceive, depending on how fertile the two of them were. Her ears perked forward as he spoke again, and she gently moved to the far edge of the den, sitting down with her tail still tucked between her legs. He was right. They had had their fun, and they needed to sleep. Resting would calm them down, and the journey the next day would keep their minds focused on something else other than each other. "You're right. We have to stop... We're not ready. Sleep will be good for us." She said softly, looking over him before looking at the ground. "I wish I could stop the physical things your body does to react to me... I wish you could just claim me... But we need to find a good place to settle down first. We barely know each other." She mumbled, whimpering slightly as she went against her desires. She wanted nothing more than to engage in activities with him... But they just couldn't. Slowly, carefully, she inched closer to him, settling herself in the middle of the den. She laid down, curling up and tucking her nose under her tail, looking up at him with her large amber eyes. Giving a small whine, she invited him to join her, hoping that he wouldn't hesitate in lying with her.

Finally watching her lower herself to the ground Kade could relax. Their little game was over for the night and he could finally let his brain enjoy their time together. Instead of fighting his urges he would be able to lay by her tonight without fear of him making a mistake. They were just barely strangers and he didn't want to make her feel as if she had to be with him, even though she did. He just hadn't told her that yet. He knew would keep her with him for the rest of eternity. He just wanted her to warm to the idea of belonging to him. Fully and completely she would become his. This had never been the plan. He had never hoped to take another mate, especially not after he had lost River. She had been gone, leaving him feeling so sad and alone in this world. The arrangement between him and Avariella had been a simple one, he would keep her safe and she would learn to trust him. Instead he had slowly begun to soften to her and there was no hope for him now. He had made his decision and he never went back on a decision once it was in his mind.



He was simply too stubborn to allow her to escape him. He moved to lay beside her making sure that their fur wasn't touching. She hadn't slept this close to him ever in all their time together and he didn't want her to feel as if she was obligated to. He took a final deep breath of her intoxicating scent before laying his head on the ground. It was starting to cool now that the sun was receding behind the mountains. It would be pitch black soon and he knew they would need their strength. In all of their love play he had forgotten a very important thing, Avariella was too thin. This had been her first good meal in a long time and that very fact had been lost to him. The very idea of her carrying his pups while she herself wasn't fully healthy rapidly cooled his desire. The fact that he wanted her so badly made him worry just the slightest bit, for he had never so easily lost control in his whole life. She made him act like a love sick pup and that was dangerous. He had worked much too hard to create barriers that kept his less than pleasant sides hidden from the world. Here she was just tearing them down, unafraid of the monster she could unleash. He would never intentionally hurt her, but the creature that had dragged itself onto this beach so long ago was a feral one.



His life was filled with too much hate and hurt that he wanted to keep it locked away. Secret and hidden from her innocence. "I know. We will find a place and then once you are healthy we can talk about this more. For now we need to focus on not pushing ourselves too far."

When Kade moved to lay beside her, the young wolf didn't move. She wanted him to lay with her... Right next to her... Perhaps even on top of her, at least half way. She wanted to cuddle up to him... It had been too long since she had done so with another living creature, and she missed it. She had always loved cuddles before she had left her pack... Or rather, been exiled from her pack. She longed to feel the comforting touch of another wolf, and she had ever since she had found herself washed up on the shores of Anikira. The only problem, however, was the fact that she had never found someone to trust until now. She really was starting to warm up to Kade, and she wanted to learn more about him. She wanted to know everything about him. If they were to spend the rest of their lives together, they would need to know at least a little bit about each other. She would have to open up, tell him about her past, about her time with the humans, everything. They needed to know what they both wanted and if their plans for the future matched up. They needed to know values, fears, wants, dreams, and more if they were going to devote themselves to each other for the rest of their lives. And so, Ava made a mental note to consciously try to pull at least one fact of his life from him each night while they traveled. She laid there for a moment, and when she didn't feel his body next to hers, she turned so that she was facing him. Scooting closer, she moved to press her body right up against his own and nuzzle her nose under his neck. Inhaling deeply, she tried to implant his scent into her mind so that she would never forget it. She listened to his words, and she slowly gave a small nod. As much as she wanted to carry his pups, she knew that they were just strangers, and she was in terrible health. Any pups that they had now would be terribly unhealthy.

A question had been haunting her since the day that they had settled upon their innocent agreement. This agreement, of course, had turned into far more than Ava could have ever imagined, and she was unsure where they were going to go from here. But a good start was asking the question that had been burning in her mind since day one. "Kade... Do you want to join a pack?" She asked softly, shifting her eyes to look up at him, but not moving anything else. It was a simple question, and his answer wouldn't affect how she felt about him either way. She just wanted to know what the future would hold for her if she stuck around with him. She had enjoyed pack life until her friends had tried to kill her, and part of her hoped that he would want to find a pack to settle down in. But the other half of her only worried that she would again be betrayed by those that she loved most. It was the same, very very small, part of her that still distrusted Kade, thinking that he might quickly turn against her. "And don't be afraid to push my comfort levels, Kade. I want to trust you, and I already trust you more than I ever thought I would."

Her question threw Kade off, since they had only just started to talk about settling down. Before he had met Avariella he had planned to join a pack in the east, but those plans had died with River. So had his desire to do anything more than just survive. Without someone for him to take care of he was more content at a loner, unable to get over his social anxiety. Now that he had Avariella though he knew they would need to find a place if they were going to be together. Having pups in a pack would guarantee their survival. While making babies was high on his list of priorities he also knew that if they did have children he wanted them to survive. While he wasn't opposed to joining a pack he knew that they would need to find the right one. A pack that would accept them for who they were, despite all of their quirks. There were a great many for them to choose, but it needed to be a decision that they made together. Not one that he made for them.



"I am not against joining a pack, but I had no plans to." He moved his body to snuggled closer to her, the small contact no longer enough. He laid his head over her neck and molded his body around her slightly smaller one. Damn but she felt good against his body. God if he didn't want her even more now. "I will follow you anywhere you want to go. I don't think I can live without you." The words were more serious than he had intended, but he wouldn't regret them. Heat or no heat he was falling for Ava, harder and faster than he thought possible. If he blinked he didn't doubt he would be in love with her. "If a pack is where you will be most comfortable raising our young then I will find us a place." Whether they found a pack or not he had every intention of taking her at the earliest opportunity. Once her heat passed and he was sure they would not have an unexpected pregnancy he would make her his. He would show her and the world just who she belonged to.

Ava didn't want to join a pack. In fact, that was the last thing she ever wanted since the day her pack had run her out and tried to murder her. She had never even thought about joining another pack or even staying with another being. And yet here she found herself, cuddled up next to an almost stranger. But... If she wasn't careful tonight, she might let the love words slip, and that was the last thing she wanted to do. She didn't want to run him off. While he might have played her little game, the scent of her heat might have been taking over his mind and body. His body might have long for hers, but she still couldn't believe that he would like her any more than that... Maybe not yet. But she couldn't believe how fast she was falling for a near stranger. Just that morning, they had been strangers out on a hunt together, but as soon as their bellies were full, it seemed that other desires wanted to make themselves known. Ava didn't know what to think of the whole encounter. She wanted to believe that he loved her, and she wanted to believe him when he told her anything. She did believe him... But there was still that small part of her that clung to her past, making her remember the traitors that had run her off of that cliff. But surely Kade wouldn't do such a thing. He would never hurt her... At least not on purpose. She felt like she could almost call him a friend, but she didn't even know that much about him. She vowed that she would get more out of him, promising herself that she would spend more time with him rather than away from him. She was going to force herself to trust him whether she liked it or not. One way or another. She was practically already his, but she needed to know that he wouldn't hurt her, something he had proved tonight when he stopped himself from claiming her despite his body longing for her, and her telling him to go for it. He still told her no, and she couldn't help but to think that that was because he truly cared about her and them. She wasn't healthy enough to raise his young if it came to that. Not yet anyway.

As he answered her question, she took a deep breath and then slid her nose under his chest, actually relaxing as his head rested over her neck. Her eyes slid closed, and she was fairly certain that she had already started to doze in and out of sleep as he talked about joining a pack. It was the last thing that Ava wanted to do, but like he said, if they were planning on having puppies, their best chance for having at least most if not all of them live was to have them raised in a pack where there would be many members to protect the babies. She wanted pups... She always had. But now that she had someone to help her make the pups, she needed somewhere to happily raise them. "Believe me, Kade... After what happened to me, joining a pack is not very high on my list of things I want, but... I also know that any puppies we may have will have a better chance of growing up healthy and strong if they are in a pack... It also will provide more protection and nutrition for them and me and you... I think we should do it... I think it's for the best..." She said softly, her words drifting off as she lulled into a light sleep, cuddling even closer to the male wolf. She needed him now, and she hoped that she was providing him with at least a companionship of nothing else.
