She howled loudly as she walked letting them know she was present in their land and wanted to speak with someone. She prayed a small prayer to herself that the pack would be searching for a shaman. She had found many loners who had needed her help but healing loners didn't provide much food unless they had the ability and strength to hunt. Her gaze wandered over the shadows that the trees and rocks made, trying to find a wolf hiding in them. She wondered if all the wolves of the pack would be asleep at that time of night as she walked silently through. Maybe a pack farther north would be looking for a shaman and someone there would be awake. She noticed as she went that the place seemed void of prey. An occasional bat flew by and she heard a few owls calling in the night but no day creatures had left their scents. Stopping in a clearing and sitting down to wait she questioned if a place without hunting would be a good place to settle. Another pack would surely be looking for a healer or maybe even a gatherer. Settling in she knew she wouldn't be staying long in the strange land but rather finding a more comforting place no matter how perfect the weather was for her breed. She needed food and if they couldn't provide there was no reason to stay. She had heard rumors of how large the Descai pack was and how easy it would be to be loved there but she had also heard of a more welcoming pack who was all about love. The Airila. Her heart craved loved and it was all she wanted. She could've cared less about whether or not she was shaman, she just wanted a family. Looking toward the sky she searched for the bats that she heard screeching about. Her eyes shut for a moment before opening again as she stood. She could see the sun rising nearby like her name. Aurora, dawn, morning. Aurora was a new dawn, she was a breath of fresh air for every canine she met. Someone they could trust, someone they could love. What wolf would greet this maned wolf standing all alone, waiting for someone to wander nearby... Would someone even notice her? The moon wasn't full, but it wasn't so dark the inhabitants of Anikira couldn't see the ground in front of their paws. True to his word, Vorilye had forced Alanna into the omega position and hadn't allowed her to leave it, though none of the Descai wolves actually treated her like the lowest ranking wolf in the pack more than once. Alanna was quick to retaliate, and very few walked away from such confrontations without blood. If it weren't for Vor, Alanna would more than likely no longer be alive. She had done everything she could think of to piss the pack off enough for someone to get careless, but the alpha had always managed to step in at just the right time to keep bloodshed to a minimum. Alanna hated him and was completely devoted to him at the same time. The she-wolf glared at the sliver of moon. She was out this late because she had experienced yet another dream that laid her emotions bare to the bone. That hadn't happened before she came to Anikira. Or at least, if it had, she refused to admit it to herself. And, of course, she blamed Vorilye. He was an easy scapegoat since she could blame most of her other problems on him. However, she could not blame her inability to hunt on the alpha. That was her, and her alone. So, even when meat was dropped in front of her nose, she refused to eat more than the bare minimum to keep her strength. A howl split the night. The she-wolf immediately bristled and took off towards it. She hated strangers, and there was enough pent up anger within to turn this into a fight to remember. It barely registered that the howl was almost a question, asking for permission. She didn't care. There was someone on her lands. It didn't really matter to her that she was not recognized as the alphess of these lands. She would be if it killed her. Hopefully, it would kill her, but Vorilye wouldn't allow that. No. He seemed to be far more interested in breaking her spirit than her body. No, that would not happen either. Alanna gave an answering howl, allowing every bit of her contempt to drip into her voice. A moment later, the she-wolf half skid to a stop in front of the stranger. Frankly, the newcomer looked funny. So funny it completely took the omega off guard. What had been a snarl on her face moments before was met with confusion, complete with one brow raised and a cocked head. She had never, in her life, met anyone that was orange...or had what looked like a mane. Alanna blinked and remembered that this wolf was a stranger and trespassing. She glared. As the first rays of sun struck the she-wolf, she suppressed a shiver. Much of her pelt was marred from her constant fighting. Her mad dash across the terrain had probably opened a few wounds, though nothing was serious. A small playful smile slipped onto her face as she knew someone was coming to greet her. She readied herself for whatever wolf came through the trees. A wolf filled with hate broke through the trees, the strangers face became one of confusion as she glanced over the maned wolf. Aurora leaned slightly forward, wanting to get a better look at the timber wolf that had appeared like a train coming down the tracks. Her coat was grey with speckles of color that the young wolf disregarded. Her tail glowed golden with the sun shining in on it. She renewed her smile and waited for the she-wolf to speak first for it was her land. As she spoke Aurora barely paid attention. Instead she pulled her head to the side a little to get a better look at the other wolf's coat. The skin was wounded for battle and it looked as if it happened often. She heard the pack member bark in an unfriendly tone and snapped back to reality, noting the clear glare in the she-wolf's grey eyes. Maybe there was something in the land nearby that the maned wolf could find for the poor creature whose wounds were constant. Maybe it was a chance to gain a friend or maybe even show how useful she could be to the pack! She sat silent for a moment waiting for the other wolf to respond before she remembered that she herself had not spoken yet. "I am a hopeless wanderer searching for a place to use my talents. I was hoping your pack would be accepting a shaman into the lands to help and assist all wounded. Wounds like those you hold on your back." She held her head high and gave her tail a slight wag trying to show the other wolf she was friendly and wanted no harm. Relaxing her body as much as she could without letting her guard down she spoke again. "My name is Aurora, may I ask what you are called?" She knew the other wolf wouldn't remove its hostility. She hadn't dealt with many other timber wolves but when a wolf came barreling in the way the eastern timber wolf did that was often a sign no matter how friendly you became it would take a long while for them to become friendly too.... Sometimes it would never happen. She hoped that this wolf would drop the hostility but she doubted it would ever happen. That's when a thought entered her mind. She remembered once that her mother had sniffed and chewed on a small white poppy not long after her brothers left. Her mother had told her that the flower relieved stress and relaxed the body while the root acted as a pain reliever. Aurora was dying to ask if she could go retrieve some and trick the pack member into chewing and sniffing the flower (for she couldn't remember if sniffing it was the key or chewing on it because her mother had done both). She smiled inwardly that she had remembered that. Maybe this new friend of hers was depressed and she could get her to chew some ivy to relax, though ivy was highly addictive. Aurora let her smile grew. If only the female could see how much knowledge she had of the plants and how badly she wanted to use it. How much she was dying to become a shaman and actually be able to eat. Maybe this wolf would see how much knowledge she had and take her directly to the alpha to join the pack! What rank was this wolf? If it was someone high up she would be in the pack instantly! Maybe even have some food in her belly in a matter of moments. Her orbs began to travel upward as her thoughts wandered off and she lost sight of the wolf she had been speaking to entirely. In her sub-conscience she hoped the stranger didn't say anything until she returned from her day-dream as shaman of the Descai... Words; 699 Muse; Merk. Notes; .........

The stranger had reacted to her obvious hostility with a very calm acceptance. If anything, she was distracted. The timber blinked and sat down hard on her rump. For the last year, when she greeted someone in that fashion, it had lead straight to a fight. Other wolves weren't nice to her unless she forced it, and they damn sure weren't polite. This stranger was both. Alanna had absolutely no idea how to respond to it. Maybe, once upon a time, she would've been able to respond in kind. Now, though, that was out of the question. Or was it? Could Alanna answer with her name and ask how extensive this stranger's knowledge in herb lore went? That was certainly the most diplomatic approach, but according to just about everyone, Alanna had less diplomacy than a raging volcano. She blinked again and tilted her head to the side, torn between lunging forward and forcing this odd looking wolf off her lands and having a conversation. Do we need a healer? she asked herself silently, conveniently forgetting she was not in a position to decide. For a moment, the fae took her eyes off the potential thread and looked at her own pelt. Based on it, yes, they needed a healer. Inwardly, Alanna groaned. Her being a healer made it harder for the she-wolf to choose reactions. For as long as she could remember, she had been told to always trust a healer, to always follow the orders of a healer. They usually knew best. Suddenly, she thought of Wutender. That wolf was just plain odd. He didn't act or talk like any wolf Alanna had ever met, and there some very strange wolves in Descai. She didn't wonder, even for a moment, why she hadn't let him administer any sort of help he could. She didn't like him, and that was that. This she-wolf though...she didn't look or act like anyone Alanna had ever met either. Alanna wanted to growl at her own indecisiveness. Something, call it instinct or gut-feeling, told her she had nothing to fear from this trespasser. The only problem was that she still didn't know how to react. She did, however, know someone who would know what to do, but she would resist taking that path for as long as possible. Besides, as the omega, she had no idea if he would even answer her summons. Still sitting, the fae finally responded. "Alanna..." she said. "I'm called Alanna." She turned and looked at her pelt, smelling the blood in her fur. She was beginning to believe that that scent was a part of her, somehow, that it wasn't a wound-scent, but part of her make-up. "Can you...uhh...do anything about this?" she finally forced herself to ask. Alanna had hated the way Vorilye accepted Wutender without testing him at all, so she figured this was the best way to treat another potential shaman. words;; 450? tags;; Loop's Aurora mood;; confused. x] notes;; hahahaha. [atrb=background,http://i39.tinypic.com/eijqrb.jpg] A voice snapped the wolf back into her own mind for a moment. She could feel the sort of tension as the other wolf spoke. It was almost as if the stranger, who was called Alanna, didn't know how to act around other wolves. The maned wolf smiled as she noticed the other wolf had sat down. She too joined Alanna on the Earth's face. The timber turned to look at her fur and Aurora followed her gaze. The pack member spoke again, asking about her wounds. Was there a good solution for them? Of course! There were many solutions but the fea didn't speak of any. There was her favorite option of burdock but that would be hard to get in a forest unless there was a stream nearby or maybe a larger source of water. There was ivy, which she spotted on a tree nearby, but she again thought to herself that the plant was very addictive and should be used as a last resort. Aurora's best bet was to find some White Poppies, Dragon Fruit or Agrimony leaves maybe even Burdock to stop the bleeding. She thought to herself as she tilted her head to the side. Remembering that there was another wolf there and she wasn't just thinking of better practices, like she often did in her free time, she jumped into work. "Well it all depends, does it hurt or do you just want the sores to heal or is it both? Maybe you're suffering from something else that I can attempt to cure?" She then remembered a story a wolf once told her about a plant they received. It had a strange name but the wolf had described it as a tree so delicate looking you were afraid even your gaze would make it die. Would that plant be useful to Alanna? She tried to remember hard what part of the tree you used and what exactly it did. Aurora truly liked the idea of using the poppy just so that she could relax Alanna a bit more. Maybe the conversation would become more easy flowing for the angered wolf. Grinning the female tilted her head and began to think of where she could find a white poppy. She prayed if she did use a poppy that she wouldn't pick it's cousin from the ground and kill her new friend. "I think our best solution that you always have if I'm not around is Agrimony, it speeds up the healing of open sores. All you really have to do is smear it over the open wound. It shouldn't be hard to find in a forest like this!" Speaking mostly to herself as she tried to work it all out she wondered if the other wolf had said anything in the few moments where she had been lost deep in her thoughts. If so, Alanna would just have to deal with the fact that Aurora was going about it as she always did. Standing up she began to walk towards the tree covered in ivy. She began to explore its base as she paid no attention to the other wolf at all. The young she-wolf was in her element and refused to get distracted. She sniffed, trying to find the Agrimony but only smelling the overwhelming scent of the Ginger Root. Scrunching her nose from the smell she smiled and turned to look at Alanna, "Not having pups are you? If so I can get you something to keep them from getting ill!" Almost before the timber had finished her question, the orange fae had begun. She hadn’t moved immediately, but it was more than obvious that her thoughts took her elsewhere. Alanna cocked her head to the other side, having no idea what to say or do. Left to her own devices for too long, Alanna usually got into some sort of trouble. However, almost as quickly as the stranger went off into her own world, she was back, up and moving. Alanna blinked. This stranger was so...strange. Snapping out of her daze, Aurora spouted out a list of questions. Or at least, to Alanna’s confounded mind, they sounded like a list. Attempting to keep up with the conversation, she answered as best she could. “It doesn’t hurt,” she said, lying through her teeth. It would injure her pride to admit to pain, though why that was she couldn’t say. “And I suppose I want them healed,” she added almost immediately. The last bit of the stranger’s lyrics were oddly comforting and set of fireworks of danger alarms in the back of her mind at the same time. No one was that loving toward someone they had just met. Were they? If Alanna had hands, she would scratch her scalp. As it was, her jaw dropped open as if she had something to say and closed again, unable to get a word out. Before Alanna could get another word out, Aurora was off in her own world again. The timber raised a brow and tilted her head back to the other side. At this rate, she was going to get a crick in her neck. A moment later, though, Aurora’s jaws moved and words spilled forth again. This time, it wasn’t a list of questions, but a plethora of information Alanna tried to absorb all at once. Apparently, herb lore did not agree with her. “Agri-what?” she asked, sounding like the uneducated bumkin that she was. Alanna turned and looked at the wounds on her back, sides, and legs. She couldn’t even see the open sores on her neck. “I’m not sure I can smear anything on myself...” she continued, not realizing that the other wolf wasn’t really even talking to her. Turning back, she found the trespasser up to her chest in dirt at the base of a tree covered in green vines. Alanna blinked, having not even noticed Aurora had moved. She shook her head, physically trying, in vain, to clear it. She was just as unsure of herself afterward as she had been before. The stranger’s words caught in Alanna’s ears once more and she stopped. Her answer to that was completely clear and she wouldn’t’ve been able to stop the words if she had wanted to. Before she even registered her own response, the wolf uttered, “Pups? You think I would let the ‘glorious’ alpha breed me? Ha!” The venom dripped from her lips. “He wouldn’t want to, anyway. It is part of the reason he forced me into the position of omega.” She turned away and stared into the distance, a battle raging within. She hadn’t intended to give that much of herself away. It had just kinda happened. She ignored all of it until a funny group of words popped out of the wolf's mouth. Omega. Why would the maned wolf be wasting her precious time with an omega? Growling almost silently to herself she decided it was best to still work her way into the pack. She sighed and looked at the other trees nearby. She couldn't see the herb she was looking for nearby at all. She would have to go searching through the forest all morning just to find the common herb. She clenched her jaw as she began to question just how much she wanted to be apart of the pack. It was possible to trick the older wolf into chewing some ivy to relax and let her guard down. The one problem was Aurora didn't want the poor soul to become addicted. She had seen a wolf addicted to ivy before and it was never a pretty sight. This wolf was an omega though, she thought to herself as she sat down and stared at it. Love or being loved? The question was constantly battling within her and controlling her every action. She stood again and wandered off to another tree. Her eyes constantly searching for the herb. All the while she searched in silence she knew that the ivy was nearby, always ready to be used. She sucked in her breath and looked back at Alanna. Trotting slowly back to the ivy tree she stared at it for a moment. She cocked her head slightly to the side as she continued her debate. "Come over this way Alanna. I want you to chew some of this ivy but-" she stopped herself short as she saw the beautiful thing that was perfectly white with a glorious morning glow. "Wait, don't, there's a better solution!" She hurried over to the white poppy and smiled to herself. What a great way to love and be loved all together. She plucked the flower from the ground and stared at Alanna, dropping the pretty thing. "Sniff it and then chew on the flower part along with the stem and swallow." There wasn't a harm in swallowing was there? She tried to remember what her mother had taught her about white poppies but nothing came to mind. Glancing at the other female she added a few more words. "White poppies are a great painkiller and a little bit of a relaxing drug. If you feel anything that is not one of those two things, tell me." She added a smile when another plant caught her eye. It was clearly a Dragon Fruit sitting at the base of a tree surrounded by plenty of weeds. Looking at Alanna she wondered if any of her wounds were infected. That would be the only reason to make her ingest the fruit. "May I look for infections in your wounds to see if anything needs to be done before I can properly heal them." She smiled again and sat next to the timber, waiting for a response. Words; 548?
