For over a hundred years, the wolves of Tas'alea lived in seclusion from the rest of the world, nestled deep in the forests of their hidden isle. Many trade boats passed by the island's sandy shores, but none ever stopped, and so the wolves lived in peace, away from the terrors of the human race.
Many do not know of the existence of human kind, and the few that do remember the stories of these vile creatures are decrepit and dare not pass the stories on to their offspring. There was peace amongst the wolves as they lived oblivious to their brothers and sisters all over the world being slaughtered into extinction. On Tas'alea, the wolves had nothing to fear. However, one day everything changed.
The earth shook violently, throwing all the packs of Tas'alea to and fro with the might of the planet. Out of nowhere, volcanoes sprung up from the ocean, throwing streams of lava from their caps and raining down on the wolves. A tidal wave dipped from the sea as the plates surrounding the island crumbled, and the rising volcanoes forced the island aside. Wolves ran for cover from the fire and water, burying themselves deep in caverns to wait out the destruction of their beautiful home. Many fell in the onslaught of Mother Earth. But as soon as the terror started, it was over.
The surviving wolves emerged from their dark homesteads and approached the water's edge, stunned to find land a stone's throw away from their beach. They watched in astonishment as a volcano on this island, too, rained fiery terror into the sky. The cap of the volcano exploded violently, throwing chunks of earth all over while many landed in the water between the two. Tas'alea's residents hastily retreated as they noticed the red hot lava streaming into the water, hardening upon contact and drawing closer and closer to their home.
Days passed and the bravest souls of Tas'alea approached the ocean once more, intrigued to find that the lava had, in fact, reached their sandy shores. However, instead of destruction, they found a cooled, solid land bridge connecting their hallowed home to this new land. The most adventurous of the Tas'aleans pressed forward, intrigued to see what they were to find in the unknown beyond.
