Typhon
Sunlight streamed down through the tree leaves and onto Typhon's sleeping face, causing a brilliantly loud sneeze to escape his nose and wake him with a start. Startled, wide eyes looked around quickly and, satisfied with the lack of threat, narrowed to account for the brightness that had started it all. Pupils constricted to mere pinpricks as a yawn became the next natural phenomenon, light glinting off the sharp teeth that seemed to have grown overnight. An equally proportional body followed suit and stretched, lithe form now as hulking and massive as the majority of Kairos wolves. Little Ty had grown into himself at last, and though he was one of the smallest of the recent adolescent wolves born this year, they were all fairly matched as far as skill and experience went.
Which, naturally, meant that none of them really knew very much, but what they did know, they clung to with all they had. Typhon loved learning more than his litter mates, though, and he had an advantage they did not--the little voice in his head, deep and commanding and cold, that gave him tidbits and hints and allowed him a slight advantage. He had asked where the voice came from, but it never answered, just as it never gave him more information than he needed. In fact, Typhon was often expected to decipher complicated riddles and never learned anything without a challenge, but that was fine by him. It was easier for him to categorize and lock away information if it did not come without a fight.
Once his morning stretches were complete, Typhon scented the early morning air, frowning as he sensed a difference. With a nagging feeling, he turned toward the den--several yards away and hidden behind some trees--and padded forward quietly, wondering what felt so wrong about this morning. When he got close enough to hear the breathing of his pack mates, he noticed that Lilith's scent was fading and lead away from the den rather than toward it. A sharp, irritated growl left his lips as he turned toward where she had gone--straight to the beach, no doubt. She had already left for the Agoge, likely before everyone else had even fallen asleep.
"That tricky bitch," he murmured under his breath, shaking his head and glaring out at the beach despite the fact that he clearly could not see it through the landscape. She simply prepared and left before you. No need to call her names, responded that voice from his head, the sound easing his features into a more neutral mask. If you wanted to be the first to leave, you should have anticipated that she would do the same, instead of waiting until morning to say goodbye to your family.
"Not my family..." Ty answered quietly, speaking out loud purely out of habit--the voice never spoke to him when he could be heard responding. "Just mother. She's going to miss us." Datura, the most perfect wolf he knew, would not show it except for perhaps a second, but he knew in his heart that she would miss her spawn. They were troublesome and tiresome and had pulled on her nerves since birth and yet she persevered and stayed strong. She was a quarter the size of them and had more control and patience than any of them ever would, and she loved her babies with all her heart.
With a huff Typhon turned back toward the den, using his nose to try and find her, but the immense number of bodies that still spent the night in the dens overpowered her. That was the reason he preferred to sleep just outside of the den, in a comfy little plot of grass he had claimed for himself shortly after Datura had allowed them to venture outside of the den past dark. As he stood there, Ty debated whether or not it would be worth stepping over grown bodies in order to figure out where his mother was.
