Typhon chuckled at the thought of his uncle calling him a prince, the thought bringing a brief flash of inspiration to him that he quelled for now; it was not the time, not quite yet. He was too young, and besides, the Agoge wasn't even finished--why plan too far ahead? "Well clearly you're doing something right, Uncle, or you wouldn't have any mates, let alone one who wanted to carry your pups," he spoke kindly, a sincere smile spread across his muzzle. "Maybe you can ask Roka what it was that drew her to you, and I'll try it out myself. Though I'll go for a strong female before a twit, thanks."
At the mention of harems, Typhon's mood shifted slightly. Though he did not know the ways of adulthood and mates, the idea of having several females taking the same role did not appeal to him. Perhaps it was because he sometimes saw the spark of resentment in Datura's eye when she spoke of the many females Goliath had fathered pups to, or maybe it was just something inside the young wolf that felt it was innately wrong. He did not blame his father, for the creation of more pups in Kairos only meant that he would continue to strengthen the pack and ensure their survival; but he was not sure a harem was something he could ever be interested in.
"It's hard to say, Sabaoth," he started carefully, his face thoughtful but revealing nothing else. "I've grown up knowing that my father has helped bring about many more wolves than my brothers and sisters, but I haven't exactly thought about it in detail. I suppose whether or not you have one mate or many is up to whomever it is involved, you know? If I had a mate and wanted another, I imagine I would discuss it with her. Seems only fair." Nodding along with his words, Typhon found that he would likely follow through with what he proposed to his uncle, as he figured it would help avoid sticky situations.
There were two ways this 'harem business' could go--Messoria, for example, was perfectly happy as a consort to the emperor, and she valued her position even though she was not the only female to get such attention from Goliath. Typhon's mother, on the other hand, would much rather be the only one to benefit from her relationship with his powerful father. Datura was proud in her place despite the fact, and as Matriarch she kept herself dignified, appearing powerful even when she chose to reveal her feelings to her beloved son. Having seen the way she wished things could be different on occasion made the young male think twice about ever doing as his father did; how could he cause such feelings in a female, letting them fester away while he occupied himself with something shiny and new? By the time he was ready to father pups of his own, Kairos would be large enough that he would not need to shore up the numbers.
"Kairos is already so large, we're going to take over the entire island of Anikira someday," Typhon said after a pause, needing to fill the silence somehow. "I can't imagine I'll need more than one litter of pups a year if both you and my father are creating even more than that." A small grin appeared, then, so that Saba would not assume Ty was judging him for choosing a second mate. He wasn't, not really; it just was not something he was likely to do.
His initial thoughts floated back to him, unbidden and unwelcome, and the young wolf squirmed slightly where he lay, debating if he should speak to his uncle about what he was thinking. "Saba... I'm thinking of saying something. But you're going to have to promise to keep it a secret." Bright green eyes met icy blue as a serious air fell between the two wolves, and Typhon impatiently awaited a response from his dear uncle.
