Hyperion was glad to be home, more so than he had ever thought he would be. It was as if all the worries of surviving alone melted away as soon as his feet had made contact with the sands. He had greeted his mother before presenting her his egg, but now he was seeking some kind of peace. His time on Vor'asa had made him forget just how crowded the little island of Ina'mos was. There were already pups from this season and the pack was expected to grow as more mothers gave birth. The amount of young that Kairos produced was astounding to him. His own father had been the culprit of many of the pups from last season. His harem and other endeavors had produced enough pups to forge an empire, not to mention Titan and Sabaoth's pups. They had quite the army of youth. It hadn't taken his mother long to break the news to him that his father and the previous matriarch had left for the continent. Hyperion had never felt so ashamed of his father in his entire life. Strength was something that he had always admired in his sire, but his departure was nothing short of cowardice. The once mighty emperor had tucked tail and run when the responsibilities had become to much for them. The rumor circulating around the pack was that Goliath and Datura had missed the bond they had shared before the packs birth, but Hyperion supposed that it was just another excuse. If his father had really cared for the little female at all he never would have formed his harem. Although Hyperion had always looked up to his father he could never understand why having so many females had appealed to him. Perhaps it was just another way from him to prove his domination to the rest of the packs. He was the master of his warriors and his women. Hyperion had seen the effect it had taken on his mother, Goliath always seemed too busy with pack matters and managing his ever increasing brood that someone always got left out. He feared that his mother had suffered that too much in the past. Goliath would come sniffing about during the breeding season and make an appearance at the birth, but then he would move on to the next batch of consorts and children. Messoria had been heart broken and Hyperion had felt so helpless trying to comfort his mother. He had made a vow to himself to protect her from ever having to go through anything like that ever again. She was worth more than being a baby machine used to make a new generation of warriors. He wished her to be happy, but at what price did her happiness come.
Hyperion had left his mother for the afternoon, deciding to spend his time in solitude. Past his anger he hadn't decided how he was going to react to his fathers departure. They had never been close with the brute, but the fact that his sire had never spent much time with him left him with a bitter taste in his mouth. He had just left his whole pack an his responsibilities to his son who was barely old enough to be an adult. He did not envy Typhon in the least. His footfalls were silent as he continued to walk further and further from the center of the island. He had hoped to return home with as little change as possible, but everything was different. He needed to stand up and be a pillar of strength in a pack that was in turmoil. He supposed that he would run across somebody eventually id he kept pacing about and that didn't bother him. Being gone so long he barely knew the wolves of his pack. Ever shifting dynamics had change things enough that most of his pack mates were total strangers. He had heard rumors of Ultoris pups that had been traded in the pup swap though he had never laid eyes on the femme. Hyperion had always wondered what purpose the pup swap had served, and why male pups hadn't been exchanged. Perhaps it was to mix the bloodlines up a little bit. As it was now Hyperion was related to more than half of the females his age in Kairos. It made sense to him that Typhon would take the Ultoris princess, just to cement the tenuous alliance. He had no idea how the Ultoris alpha would react to Goliath leaving. It seemed the best for everyone if his half-brother mixed the blood as the new emperor. An alpha's son and an alpha's daughter would make a fine match. Hyperion had always thought that he would have to go out into the wilds some place to find a femme that suited him, but that was surely far in his future. He was barely old enough to be considered a male and he was not tempted by the females heat on the island. He was sure that his interest wouldn't turn until he was older. Besides none of the females on the island even sparked a shred of his interest. Perhaps that was just him being stubborn because he didn't want to end up like his father. He would not take anyone who batted their eyes at him. He would find the one when he was ready to and not a moment before.
He chuckled to himself, the sound deep and gruff. That was one of the changes that had occurred during his absence from Ina'mos. His voice had deepened, his muscles had sharpened and his appearance had lost the majority of it's puppy likeness. He considered himself a handsome brute taking after his mothers coloring, but he was not a vain creature. Not at all pretty like his uncle. No he was a manly sort of wolf, or so he liked to tell himself. Despite how the Agoge had hardened him he was still young and had plenty of growing to do. In the months to come he would be tested time and again with lessons that would help him develop into his full manhood. For now he would do the best he could to support his pack and his mother. Before he could turn back to return to his mother he caught a sweet smell he couldn't quite place. It obviously belonged to a stranger, but it was faint enough just to tickle Hyperion's senses. Just enough to prick his curiosity. He wanted to find out just who this person was and why they were out here all by themselves. "Come on out."
