As the sun rose over the peak of the horizon, Nimue stood at the very edge of the Eye of Fenris, watching as the glowing orange orb traced a slow path across the sky. The clouds were a lovely hue of orange and pink, beginning to fade steadily towards a pale gray-blue, and for some time she stood there simply staring. The wind was gentle and the snow light, tiny flakes falling upon her shoulders, flecking the black markings there with ivory. It was a peaceful moment, stretching out before her like something tangible, the shadows moving and flickering within the massive hole that dipped sharply at her paws.
For some time now, Nimue had been gathering and sorting her thoughts concerning the ranks within Ananke. There were many loyal, trustworthy wolves who had been with her from the very start – and there were also many higher ranking positions that needed to be filled as their numbers continued to swell. As she’d began to consider who would take the position of Lead Huntress, one particular name had sprang to the front of her mind, and the moment she’d thought it, Nimue knew it was the right decision to make. She could practically feel it in her bones.
Her head dipped back, muzzle parting as a howl slipped from between her teeth. It was Silver she called for, her song echoing through Aveline until at last she dropped her head, letting the chords die off. From the very moment she’d met Silver, Nimue had found that she enjoyed the company of the she-wolf. As time had gone on she’d come to trust the huntress more, and as of late Silver had been a godsend, helping welcome new members and even bringing Skye to join their ranks. And she was a skilled huntress, of course, bringing in kill after kill to feed the various mouths of her pack mates. Yes, Nimue was absolutely certain of her decision. Now all that there was to do was wait and offer.
