Veles had been unsure how he would adjust to pack life. He had made the choice to try, but the concept of living around other wolves, and those wolves knowing who you are, and having duties.. all of it had seemed so foreign he had had a hard time even wrapping his head around how it would go. But after having been part of Ananke for a few months, he was pretty confident he was getting the hang of it. It was not so bad living around other wolves. They left you alone if you left them alone for the most part, and that was just how Veles liked it. If he wanted to interact, he would. Otherwise, he appreciated that it was not forced upon him.
He wondered if all packs were this way and was certain there were some whose values were more “family-oriented.” The sandy coloured wolf shuddered at the thought as he walked across the crusty ground. The morning was nice, slightly misty, but not too cold, and a recent rain had created a few puddles in the crater. Veles stopped to drink at one, and as he put his nose to the ground, picked up a familiar scent. The Ananke wolf he had first met trespassing in The Occasus. He smiled, lapped up some water and then looked around for her while seeking cover behind a boulder with every intent to calmly step out whenever she was near and hopefully startle her a little. The thought brought a smile to his face as he crouched, his head peeking around as she approached.
But as the dark she-wolf came nearer, he could tell there was something wrong. She did not seem to be the same fun-loving wolf he had met just weeks earlier. Wondering what was wrong, he gave up his hopes of startling her and walked from his hiding place towards her. Perhaps she was just down about something. “What is on your mind, miss?” he began, giving her the opportunity to talk about anything she might want to.
