Although being in the others' company had been comforting, Iason was not a social creature by nature. He preferred solitude so it was solitude that he sought out as he wandered into the dim cave system, pastel orbs panning across the vast entrance. With a melancholy sigh, the albino male padded forwards and settled down against a cave wall, placing a paw over his scarred muzzle.

He tried to sleep, but could not. The wound of Amethyst's departure was still fresh upon his heart and it hurt too much to be able to quell; sleep was not, unfortunately, an option for the grieving wolf. It was so lonely to sleep without his mother's comforting presence, her soft fur enveloping her youngest son. He was to never hear her gentle, bell-like voice again, never to bury his face into her warm chest, never to watch intently as she sifted through herbs and ran through healing procedures... And that hurt; it so very hurt, a pain residing in what felt like Iason's very core, seeping through his veins like poison, tainting everyday experiences with pure anguish.

Iason felt anger. Not a raging inferno of fury, not a slow burn of hatred. It was an anger that was strange to define, not aimed at anyone or anything in particular. It was just... There, and it had been since the Maned wolf's mother had passed on, eating away at his mind like a parasite. And when he was not filled with this ire, there was a hopelessness, an emptiness that refused to be filled.

When the canine had first arrived upon Anikira, he had felt hopeful that he could start anew, live either in isolation or among other 'freaks'. And that had seemed plausible—it still did seem plausible—but it was just this feeling, either of some undefinable enmity or a despondent, woeful abyss consuming his emotions. Perhaps his hopes had been too high. Perhaps freedom from oppression, whether from his pack or from grief haunting him, was never supposed to be his in the first place.

[Vidarii]

Slow steps carries the molten ash and rust touched wolf forward, eyes of glittering gray looked silvered in the given light. His thoughts were on the past few days, the acceptance of the five who would begin life anew at each others sides despite their drastic differences. Pacali would be realised, and his sister would now have a home and pack who would not ridicule, or abuse her simply for being different. It was his job to protect her, after all Vasyl, and Vienna had never cared for Vashti. Vas had never tried to protect his youngest sister, had barely even spoken to her. And that had served to only drive a wedge deeper into the vast canyon that separated the siblings.

But it didn't matter anymore, Vienna and Vasyl were dead, because of him. The weight drug the brute down, allowing those ears to droop as he silently mourned. It did not matter to the heart that they had a minimal interaction type of relationship. They still had been his brother and sister, and he failed them so utterly. He would not fail his Vashti, he would protect her at all costs, so that she may know happiness and life.

It wasn't until he was almost upon him that Vidarii realized the pure white brute was near. That skull jerked up in surprised, had he been so lost in his own grief and thoughts that he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings? That wasn't like him at all, to be so caught up he became unaware. One look at the other male merely caused Vidarii to speak his mind, unchecked.

"Iason, in the solitude you sought
There are demons to be fought."

Dar wasn't certain exactly how the other took to his manner of speech. But frankly the white wolf looked exactly like how Vidarii felt, and that caused the painted wolf to feel a bit of kinship with the other. Only the loss of a loved one would cause one to look as the albino did. No good at comfort, or consoling any other then his beloved sister he still made an attempt to address the prone brute.

"In loved ones loss do you grieve
I truly understand, I believe."

[Vashti]

This place was different from home. No not home, simply where she was born and raised but never truly a home for her or her dearest brother, Vidarii. This place was a more of a home amongst the first few moments than the couple of years spent with their birth pack. Odd to how things can change so quickly. Although the perimeters involved the duo leaving were incredibly distant from being ideal, their journey seemed to have worked out for the best. The memories of their siblings death was still fresh in memories but Vashti tried to move on as best she could and convince her similar looking brother to do the same. Not to be disrespectful to the dead but wallowing in guilt would get them absolutely no where.

Pale silver gaze looking out over the land she now felt a part of as the mind worked out the recent events that had taken place. Several new acquaintances were made and a pack in the works with the outcasts gathered here. Females certainly outnumbered the males, but that didn't bother her at all. She never favored one gender over the other. There was one male, only one whom was counted amongst the new settlers besides her brother. A snowy brute with crimson eyes and pink skin which made up a combination she had never seen before and it was fascinating. Without a word, the male still conveyed much if one took the time to pay attention to him. Perhaps one in one would prove more suitable for learning about him instead of the ever shifting attentions between a group setting.

Yet when she found his scent and followed it, she found him with Vidarii. Once again unshaken by the turn of events, the ebony and earth female fearlessly approached the duo with a friendly expression and dip of her head in acknowledgement of them both. Out of habit she stood closer to Vidarii, he was her security blanket. But she felt no unease with the albino, she only felt curiosity and intrigue. Yet his face seemed troubled and her own expression changed to one of quizzical silence. Why was he sad?

"The gaze of the sunrise tainted with sorrow's hue?" She asked gently, making sure she read his expression correctly.

Rose-hued oculi emerged from their stark white cover to see two wolves, similar in appearance. Vidarii and Vashti. Iason gave a glum nod in their direction to acknowledge their presence before sitting up, not wanting to be seen in such a vulnerable position. What did they want with him?

Vidarii offered words of consolation, insisting that he understood. Snowy white shoulders lifted into a shrug; even if he understood, what difference would it make? Understanding did not bring back the dead. All that understanding brought was the opportunity for mutual grief. Amethyst was dead, perhaps even because of Iason's herbs, and so was whoever the siblings before him had lost. They all knew grief, but did that matter? They were grieving and innocent wolves were gone and nothing could change that.

But Iason was not a rude nor bad wolf. He did not want others to suffer, not to suffer as he was suffering—who deserved such pain? No bad deed could warrant someone the punishment of such pain. Meeting the littermates' pale grey eyes with kindness, the scarred albino stood up and approached the future alphas, nuzzling them gently under their chins. He was not sure how they would take to the random gesture, but hopefully they found comfort in it rather than discomfort.

Having paid particular attention to mouth movements, intrigued by the foreign ability of speech, Iason had not only been able to vaguely lip read but also was able to mouth things somewhat accurately. He wondered if the wolves would be able to understand him—only Amethyst could, but perhaps Vidarii and Vashti could vaguely make out what he was trying to say, if not guess from what had happened already.

'Tell me about them,' the Maned wolf mouthed slowly, emphasizing his mouth movements in a hope of the wolves having a somewhat correct idea of what he was trying to say. There was much that he wished to say himself but miming words took quite the effort to do, so as always, his emotions remained bottled up, his story left untold as it would always be.

[Vidarii]

As Vashti stepped up beside him the brute would unconsciously press against her before leaning away, in a subtle greeting. But his focus remained on the white male who seemed unable to speak actual words. Pulling from his memory he believed the one before them was mute. Such a thing made communication difficult, yet he and Vash were well accustomed to deciphering strange speech. So when the snow touched brute opened his jaws, silvered eyes focused upon not only his lips but his facial features.

It took only a few moments for Vidarii to understand what the male asked, it also only took the same amount of time to realize that the brute withheld his own story for now. The question that struck Dare was simply, did Iason do so willingly, or was it the difficulty he's experienced in communication that prevented him from telling his tale. A sideways glance was given towards Vashti, she held the patience and experience to help free the wolf's tongue even if he weren't able to use words. Well aware his glance would have Vash understanding his desire to help the lanky wolf.

It took him a moment to open his own mouth to speak of the tragedy that had driven the twins from their home. Not that either regretted leaving, rather they were much happier to be gone. It was the circumstances with which they were forced to leave that bore the weight of guilt.

"Two of a kind with a prank,
our recklessness did break,
our siblings over a cliff they sank,
their lives we did take."

"For our lack of foresight,
It was they who paid the price,
Guilt and sorrow without a light,
A burden carried not once but twice."

Falling silent he waited, those eyes never breaking from the other. Dar had never once given thought to how others perceived him aside from their superstitions and automatic dislike for what was different from them. Though he briefly wondered if the other would understand what he said despite the deliberate slow speech he used to better help Iason catch every word.

[Vashti]

The simple nudge given to her by her brother seemed to set the world right whenever she was feeling a little lost or confused. It was his magic, however brief it was. Silvered eyes flickered over to him then rested on the albino once more. Suddenly she felt a little sad that he seemed to have no one to comfort him. Well, she would change that if at all possible.

But that plan would have to wait. He asked after their past, silent words mouthed to the pair. Vashti hesitated in answering, she didnt want to come across as a cruel beast. After all it was an accident. They never meant for it to happen. Coming to her rescue, Vidarii filled in the blanks and rhymed the tale together as she merely lowered her ears in silent grief. The images haunted her, she knew the same was true of Vidarii as well, he was more vocal about it than she. After all, he carried so much more guilt. It was his plan that went awry and she knew her brother blamed himself for their deaths.

Waiting for the reaction was hard, she wanted to see if he would let this dark portion of their past choke out his desire to stay and help build a sanctuary for the other lost wolves on the island. It would be easy to see the duo as monsters, killing their own family and easy to forget or ignore that it was an accident. "Merely a prank was the goal." Stating this once more may help fight back the encroaching clouds of judgement.

The seconds hung and Vashti felt like the world was crushing her. What would the pale white wolfs reaction be? They were not murderers..intentionally but they had done a serious wrong. "Now such schemes shall receive more attention so history will be unable to repeat itself. She swears." Refusing to cower or grovel, she straightened herself up and looked directly at him as she stated the promise Dare and herself made after that fateful day. "Life is too precious."
