Welcome to Hunt or Be Hunted, a Shape-Shifter Role-play! Choose between the misunderstood Shape-shifters or the dastardly Hunters.
Rules
Follow the normal ones and you’ll be alright. In addition to those, however, there are these:
1. You are allowed to have two characters (for now). You may have either a Shape-shifter or a Hunter (Jager). Shape-shifters may be any existing animal found today. If you are making a Hunter, do not fill out the Shape-shifter part of the bio…
2. The word minimum is at 100 words per post. I’m keeping it low so you all don’t go muse-dead. XD
4. An animal talking to another animal can understand in a universal language. Humans can not understand animals. Duh.
5. No graphic, sexual content please. A bit of blood and gore never hurt anyone, though. Do keep cursing to a minimum.
6. Let’s try to keep a posting order organized. It would be much easier for everyone. Also, don’t constantly bug people when it’s their time to post. It’s irritating.
Plot
One may believe that humans were the first people to inhabit Earth. They would be only half right. Many, many years ago, a different race of human lived. These humans had an extraordinary ability. They had the ability to change between human and animal. No one knows how this came about, for any records kept were lost through the ample ages. These humans became The Shape-shifters.
For a while, things went smoothly. There was no real competition between Shape-shifters. They always considered themselves equal to one another despite their rivalries between certain species of animals. However, one day, a Shifter couple gave birth to a baby that did not have their power. At first, the parents believed that their child would simply develop the power later on, but when that happened they began to worry. This was unheard of in the Shape-shifter community. Later, more and more children were born just like the first; powerless. The Shape-shifters began to worry even more, fearing that their lines would soon turn into a ’weak’ sub-species.
By the birth of the first powerless child, the Jager was born. The Shape-shifters grew to dislike their own children. They, unlike their families, were different. They could no do as the Shape-shifters could, and thus, were thrown out to live, or die, on their own. Naturally, this created a great deal of animosity between the two races. By banding together to survive, the Jagers, as they so named themselves, grew and grew. The trained themselves to hunt, to fish, to farm, to fend for themselves in almost ever aspect of life. Soon, they even began to train one another to hunt the very beings who gave them creation.
A man, the first born Jager, bore a great hatred towards the Shape-shifters as a whole. It was he who truly formed the Jager organization. Soon, he began to become selective and only allowing those who proved that they would benefit the group. Those who didn’t were cast off such as the Shape-shifters had once done to them. Relentlessly, he trained those under his command awaiting the day by which he could mount a full scale attack on the other race. He would show them that they didn’t need powers to be better than they.
Even more ages passed and the reason for the Jager’s hate became long forgotten. Future Jagers only knew that their one true enemy in life were Shape-shifters. Their one mission was to kill any Shape-shifter they came across. Even the death of one Shifter was enough to get you in good graces. Constantly, a struggle between the two races occurs. Day in and day out.
It’s either hunt, or be hunted.
Setting
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, US, often referred to as “The Nation’s Summertime Capitol”, is a great place to live! The population is only around 2000 people, give or take a few. Surprisingly, there are a good number of Shape-shifters who have decided to make this area their home. It’s got your small surf, sand, and plenty of sun! The coast line stretches on a good ways which helps to cut down on tourists taking over privately owned or public beaches. There’s plenty of space for sharing comfortably. The resort, however, are often quite crowded. Those who live permanently in Rehoboth Beach tend to stay away from these areas during tourist season. The night life in the area is festive and very active. Bars, clubs, and other such places are open until the wee hours of the morning. If the night life’s too fast paced for you, then try out the slightly calmer and more formal day life. Classy or casual restaurants are located all around, so finding a good meal to eat isn’t a problem. During the day or the night, a great place to be is always at the Boardwalk. It’s known that you can catch quite the different kinds of marine wildlife there for supper. If the human infested beaches are making your skin crawl, just take a short drive over to the Cape Henlopen State Park. With 3,000 square miles of wooded areas, beaches, and camping sites, any Shape-shifter can give their animal counterparts a good stretch of the legs. Humans do visit often, but their numbers are relatively small making it easy to avoid any unwanted attention.

- Höchster – Supreme Hunter – The one, and only, leader of the force. He/She oversees everything. Nothing gets by him/her. It is a very, very rare occurrence for the Höchster out in the field doing dirty work. In extreme cases of Most Wanted Shifters, he will often see to their deaths personally. He is the absolute most skilled Jager in the force.
- Hoher – High Hunter – These are the second in commands of the Jager force. Their main job is to gather up all the information from all Jager below them and report to the Höchster. These are usually the best of the best among the force. Rarely will you see them actually out in the field hunting. Usually, they wait until the hunt is over to report the Shape Shifter has been indeed killed.
- Fach – Skilled Hunter – The third highest ranking Jager. Usually, Fach have been with the force for many, many years and are very skilled and knowledgeable. They are very well respected members of the team. While some may still work for the force, many have retired. However, they still carry the Fach title.
- Auslese – Elite Hunter – For cases that the Höchster does not want to take care of personally, or those that Grunzen are not skilled enough to take on, the Auslese are unleashed. Second best only to their higher ups, the Auslese have been on the force for some time and are very well trained. They are Grunzen who have worked hard enough to be considered Elite.
- Grunzen – Hunter – These are your average human hunter of low rank. They do the dirty work asked of them, no questions asked. Typically, this rank is made up of Jagers who have recently joined the force and are either learning the ropes or seeing that the ropes are not slacked by ‘younger’ Jagers.
- Sklave – Slave Hunter – This group is entirely made up of Shape shifters who are forced, or sometimes willing, to work for the Jager. Eight out of ten times, the Jagers have blackmailed a Shape Shifter into working for them by whatever dastardly means. For the select few who are put into this category, extensive research is put into their selection, training, and work. Rarely do those forced to work escape.
