Zethrox could feel the femme's submission in both her words and posture, but her bitterness had yet to fade. "I'll never forgive you for what you've done. I'll never speak... Fohn was... my everything..." He knew that the death of the bird had not been intentional. He had merely been holding the raven, which he now knew was named Fohn. If he hadn't been raking his claws against the brute's face, he would not have suffered such a fate. He brought it upon himself, he thought softly, though he knew the femme would not believe his words.
"You will not have to speak. I will not force you to. But I will expect you to contribute and perhaps one day you will see clearly," he told her with his un-natural wisdom thick in his voice. He glanced over at Zhen and suddenly froze up, lost for words to tell her. He had not noticed her picked the feathers away from the bird's body, letting them rain across the ground and blow away in the breeze. She'll be angry again... He thought fleetingly. As Zhen returned nearby with a feather still hanging from her muzzle, he winced, knowing that Krever would react violently. He did not wish to be stuck in this situation, yet he knew that if it came down to a fight yet again, Krever would lose. "So Zhen, did you have any plans to stay here?" he asked casually, genuinely curious at her intentions in Kamari. He could sense that the former alpha had been angry with the femmes, or Krever would not have been fleeing from the intimidating brute. Zethrox was not frightened of Koli; although he had informed Raisa earlier that he did not wish to fight the brute, it was more for personal reasons than pride reasons. He knew he could take many wolves in combat, but he did not wish to draw attention to himself. That way, he could remain less conspicuous in the search for his son.
But alas, those plans had flown out of the picture when Zethrox had claimed the territory on impulse. He would have the advantage of a home territory now, and wolves that would fight with him if necessary. Though I am not sure about Krever... She may just join with my son, he thought fleetingly. The possibility was not pleasant. Knowing Ardemu, the brute would graciously accept the assistance, then dispose of her afterwards. Even though he did not approve of Krever's actions, he cared about her life. With the way she had acted thusfar, she was likely to get herself killed in nearly any packland on the continent. With her stuck in his lands, he could at least attempt to help her.
Ah, Raisa. He noticed the scent of the female moments later as he paced away from Krever. He nodded to the femme and smiled knowingly. He did not blame her for keeping her distance; it was an unpleasant situation down here. Even worse, the former alpha had yet to act out in any way. Perhaps leaving the area would be wise before the brute had a chance to regain his wits and fight. Although Zethrox was not afraid of Koli, the black brute was a much more formidable opponent than Krever had been. He knew that it would not be settled so quickly. Perhaps a return trip to the hot springs would be settling, he thought with a smile. "I believe it would be best to explore the terra a bit more, then perhaps get some hunting in," he explained to the wolves with a straight face. "You all are welcome to stay in the territory for now, though those of you not wishing to join Haishin, it would be wise not to dwell too long without the protection of a pack. These lands are not safe without protection." The words carried a grim warning; he knew something most of them likely did not.
"Anyone wishing to join me is welcome. Krever, please come along," he added as an afterthought, knowing the femme would not willingly follow. He would not run after her if she decided to flee, but it would not be wise. Zethrox knew these lands much better than many wolves that dwelled here. It had been his home his entire life. And so a new life begins...
The brute took one last look at the crumbling buildings and the wolves around him before turning away and trotting back in the direction he had entered. He had smelled a new wolf in the territory, one that likely had been wandering when he had re-claimed the lands, and it would be best to inform him of the new claim before he had a chance to get himself injured. Soon, he would not be so kind to wolves strolling around Kamari without an invitation or approval.
