? White sand, white sand as far as her bright yellow eyes could see. Her black paws speckled with red left soft prints in the sand as she walked along the shore, the waves rolling in just shy from wetting her pads. Though her long legs moved with grace, her mind was in a chaotic spin. The past few days had brought nothing but horrible memories and sickening thoughts back from what she thought had been their grave. It had all been going so slow, as was normal for her. But then it happened, then they had the nerve to show themselves to her, and it all happened so fast. Slinking out of the brush like snakes and coiling around her, squeezing every bit of faith she had left out of her. Fighting had never been up there on Lisa's list of hobbies, not unless there was someone to defend, but in the soulless eyes of the males she used to call her brothers she saw her family screaming as they were killed, torn apart - she hadn't realized she had thrown herself at her siblings until she was on the ground. Their teeth were scraping at her throat and shoulder; she was at their mercy. She was a strong fighter, but tactic was Lisa's greatest ally, so the impulsive lunge had cost her. Mercy was not a practice her brothers knew of.
So perhaps it was a form of torture that left her here on the lonely beach with blood matting fur lightly on her neck and a deep gash in her shoulder making this graceful stride she maintained difficult. Still, Lisa knew she couldn't let herself show weakness, so she powered through the pain and kept her gate unwavering. Her slender body had been too-long denied meat, her ribs stretching her skin, outlining themselves for all to see how pathetically hungry this wolf was. Lisa's lips parted as she let out a quiet sigh, wondering how she had ever gotten to this state. The attack from her brothers was only a few hours old, there was no way to claim she was so thin because of her shoulder's injury impairing her ability to hunt. She'd been unsuccessful even before the incident, and now she wasn't so sure how she was going to get herself back to a healthy shape. Was this going to be it? Was her life going to end in starvation because of one stupid act? The warm breeze was a small comfort, pleasant as opposed to a chilly breeze that would have left her cold to the bone, and taken away even more of what strength remained. And what strength did she have left? Well, that was a question she wasn't sure she could answer in any positive manner. She had no faith left in her, but as she walked, she was silently hoping for a miracle of some nature that would snap her back from the past her brothers had poisoned her into remembering with their bites, and back to reality.
