The wounds of the forest that left it dark and dying had interested Saphira where most would be scared to enter the shadows and fog, unaware of what would jump out at them. She, however, carried her own light with her always, splashes of sunlight fighting off the darkness as her tail swayed happily behind her. The tall trees, burned and hurt as they were, were still tall even if every leaf was gone. The tip of those trees touched the sky, stretching their thin branches long and far, bark peeling and leaving pale tans underneath. Every step on the ashen ground was silent and soft, her snowy paws barely tainted by the pale ash clinging now to her fur. The silence that hung heavy around her was the only thing she didn't like. This silence was boring! As her walk came to a stop, she sighed lightly and looked around. "Hello?" She called without purpose, not really expecting any response. A few bats flew overhead as evening crept upon the world, making the forest a degree darker, but Saphira still wasn't bothered.
The screeches of bats had her bright, dual-colored eyes turning up to the sky, watching the little cry-babies fly around blindly looking for their nightly meal. Loud as hell, these little guys! Her ears twitched as the noises got more and more high-pitched, and she started to walk again, trying to get away from the noise that she was sure was going to make her ears bleed. Around her there was nothing, so the noise wasn't blocked by anything. Maybe she should have saved this trip for morning, if not only for the sake of avoiding these noisy critters. But it was too late now to take the decision back, she was here and so they were they.
The Arctic wolf was just as quickly happy again when she'd escaped the sound to leave it only a dull thrum in the back of her mind, finding the ever-scary (or so they were considered by most) rock formations. The night left no shadows for her to examine, but she was happy to leap up onto the rocks, taking the advantage of height and looking out over the entire forest. "Wow..." Vast, empty, and dark. A great place to come to be alone, to think and plot. Then, and only then, did she feel a slight chill along her spine. Who else thought this place perfect for thinking? She knew there were wolves out there who's thoughts were dark, whereas hers revolved around what her next "act" would be to boost her popularity level. Well, popularity, fame, same thing. But not everyone had such simple things to think about. Saphira let herself settle atop the rock, her paws hanging lazily over it's edge as she stared into the nothingness left of this little world of its own. The lacking warmth of day was preserved in the rock, and as she lied down her head on her forepaws, nose pointing to the ground, she smiled to herself as her belly warmed up. Her mind wandered peacefully, relaxing her into closing her eyes.
