Unstoppable [Conquest]

The massive hulking brute strode forward through the forest with an eager determination. Today was the day. Today Kairos would expand yet again, this time taking the territory of a pack for itself. Goliath had instructed his general to head into the northern woods to stake their claim, while the alpha and other warriors of Kairos would spread out to cover the rest of the gloomy landscape. Kayi would be trailing along somewhere behind him, although Titan was inclined to see her more as a liability than an asset. If it did come to a fight over who held rights to this forest – which the savage brute was rather hoping it would – he doubted that the petite priestess would do anything but require protection. Well… she was company at least. Maybe he would talk to her once they reached their destination, but for now the giant grey beast remained silent and alert to the pair’s surroundings in case one of the Descai stragglers dared to threaten the precious white lady officially under his protection for today.

He didn’t expect there to be much trouble here though. It really was pitiful what this pack had declined into and he might have even felt sympathetic if it hadn’t provided such a great opportunity for the expansion and growth of his own pack. Besides, he had heard from Goliath that the alpha was an arrogant fool who clutched onto his power whilst lacking the merit to properly fulfill his duties. Titan’s lip curled up into a harsh sneer. Any alpha who allowed his pack to dwindle away like this was weak; it was the worst dishonour a pack could face aside from being forced into slavery. The same thing had happened to the warrior’s old pack, Vashti, although at least Darius had had enough dignity to disband the pack before they lowered themselves to the sorry state which Descai had succumbed to.

Descai’s demise was hardly worth thinking about though. The fact was that Kairos was conquering Acerbus today and nothing was going to stop them. This seemed like a good a place to do it, the general decided as he spotted a rocky outcropping through the trees ahead. The behemoth Kenai Peninsula male clambered to the top of the rock with ease and turned his deep cobalt eyes to search for Kayi, waiting to see her settled before he begun.

A powerful and unquestionably dominant howl bellowed out over the dark empty woods as Titan claimed this area of Acerbus in the name of the Kairos Empire. His would not be the only one – no creature within the territory of Acerbus could have any doubt that ownership of this land had changed. With a satisfied grin, pumped up on the adrenaline of a conquest, the great male turned his attention to Kayi. “So. What do you think of our new territory so far, femme?”

An ethereal white body moved gracefully behind a giant black one, forming a yin yang in their incredible contrast. She was small, he was gargantuan--and she had no idea why she had volunteered to join in the conquest, because she knew she'd be paired up with a giant that made honor to his name and made her feel puny in comparison. But, she was here, walking behind him and feeling her heart wanting to burst from beating way too fast. She could feel her heartbeat up to her ears, her breathing was uneven and her legs threatened to fail on her, but she began to swallow her fear down by force. She had to act tough, to fake it until she made it. Being surrounded by so many giants and fierce femmes was proving to be difficult, especially if she kept comparing them to the demons that she feared so much--bears. But, she had to keep her hopes up; now she was a Priestess, and the title was beginning to be an honor for her. She knew she'd do anything to save a life, to make up for the mistake she made of running away when her family needed her the most.

Kairos had decided that they wanted to claim an already claimed pack land for themselves--the concept didn't seem crazy to her, since she knew that the pack was huge. It would take forever to get to know everyone, and with the new pups coming their way, they needed as much space as possible. And, if they proved to be just as big as their parents, then the more space the better. Walking with her head high, trying to impress Titan, she looked at him when he climbed up a rock and made a high, deep howl that echoed across the land they wanted to claim. Kayi decided to howl with him too, taking a deep breath and howling as loud as she could. Looking over at her, he then spoke to her directly. “So. What do you think of our new territory so far, femme?” The word femme made her feel irked for a few minutes. He clearly knew her name, but he deliberately chose to name her like that. Closing her eyes for a few seconds, she took a deep breath and spoke. "I think it's lovely, sir. I especially love these woods." Looking around her, she then returned her eyes to meet Titan's cobalt blue ones. "What are we going to do now?" She asked, hesitating for a second to have asked that question, but she couldn't do anything about it.

“Hmph, really? You like this dingy old forest?” Titan wouldn’t admit it aloud, but the place gave him the creeps. With the copious layers of fog shrouding the land, it would not be easy to spot something approaching, and somewhere deep in the back of his mind, his brother Hyperion’s ghost stories were starting to gain some credibility.

Kayi's pale fur almost seemed to glow eerily in the dark woods, as if the petite she wolf was an angel who didn’t belong in amongst all the doom and gloom Titan saw around them. It was kind of unsettling, really, how her eyes were an unnatural pink while her fur was so devoid of any colour – the great grey male had never seen a wolf like her. Titan had spent several years wandering the vast continent as a loner before he had stumbled across Goliath and his ambitious visions, and he had thought that he had come across most of the variation their species had to offer. Apparently he had been wrong – perhaps that was what unsettled him rather than the female herself. She certainly seemed nice enough, respectfully addressing him as sir as befitted the title he was so proud of, and she seemed to be trying her best to be friendly.

“Well,” he said as he thought about her question. “We have announced our claim, so this is our territory now; we can do whatever we damn well please. You’d better still stay close though, just in case one of those Descai mutts dares to dispute our claim upon these lands. Although… even you alone would probably be enough to take one of them in a fight,” Titan gave a deep laugh. The idea of such a timid young girl fighting was ridiculous to him, but even though she was a dwarf in his presence she was probably not too tiny compared to the small wolves of mainland Anikira. He wasn’t keen to see such a fight though – the protective warrior would keep this one as safe as possible while she was under his care.

Kayi sighed and felt a little bit annoyed with his attitude, but she could never argue with him. He was huge, so it was foolish and stupid to even attempt to argue with him. She just shrugged a little and replied softly. "I am learning to see beauty even in the ugly, sir." She smiled faintly, trying to shrug off the annoyance she was clearly feeling right now. She then perked up her ears to listen to what Titan was saying to her. “Well, we have announced our claim, so this is our territory now; we can do whatever we damn well please. You’d better still stay close though, just in case one of those Descai mutts dares to dispute our claim upon these lands." Kayi nodded at his statement. "Although… even you alone would probably be enough to take one of them in a fight,” Kayi resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the supposed joke, but she just gave a sheepish, dry laugh in response to his hearty guffaw. 

She could hear distant howls of other Kairos wolves that were helping with the conquest. Her heart was still racing, and she was still annoyed with Titan, but she had to obey what her Alpha had commanded. She was no one to go against his orders--she was puny, first and most important of all. "I doubt that they will fight back. I cannot smell any scent markers, so... right now they're nothing compared to us." Had she just said that? Kayi couldn't believe that those words had just escaped from her maw, but for a sudden moment, the statement felt... good. She felt powerful, and she liked it. Yes, she was worried that maybe Titan would make fun of everything she said, but... that statement sparked something within her mind that made her feel strong for a brief moment, but she quickly quieted her mind before letting the thought swell her head. Maybe it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing, but it helped her release the dominant side of her that was dormant for far too long. Taking a deep breath to calm her mind from overloading with adrenaline-infused thoughts, she began to focus on the task at hand, hoping that Titan would not annoy her anymore.
