The Colors Of Fall (Open)

[Dianthe]

It was amazing! So many colors! Lilac eyes raked the trees and grasses with incredible curiosity. This was her first autumn and she had to say she loved it. The water took the beauty and threw it straight back into the painting of the landscape. Sitting down and just looking, Dianthe immersed herself completely into the scene. Nothing could be more beautiful, it wasn't possible. 

Meandering out on her own was still a little scary but she had a curiosity within her that refused to let her just walk around when someone was with her. Exploration was exciting! She found new creatures and plants nearly everyday and met pack members on a more one on one plane which was more comfortable than the crowded manner she recalled from her earlier days. 

Contrasting oddly with the reds, golds and oranges, the young silver female with lilac orbs still couldn't help but smile. Never the thought of being covert crossing her mind, she would be smack in the middle of it. She rather wished she brought Casi or Missy along, they would like it out here. Or course that meant Apollo would be here too since he and Missy weren't very far from each other at any given time, but that would just add to the trip. As long as Raum didn't come. He scared her. Yeah she felt guilty about not liking her brother but she couldn't help it. He just seemed to like to scare her and the others. Casi especially was susceptible to his antics. Dia tried to protect her but she wasn't sure she really did any good. 

Suddenly motivated to howl, she turned her face to the bright blue sky and howled a high sound to rejoice in the day. One had to enjoy the little things in life. Besides if someone wanted to know where she was, it would be easier for the to find her. But solitude didn't bother her. It was beautiful.

OOC: I know this is an awful opener but this girl needs to be active.

The young multi-hued brown wolf had been born in the spring of the current year so every season after that was new to him and he enjoyed watching them come and go, learning what every season was good for. He remembered back to his early days of spring, the warming temperatures and all the new pups and creatures. It was a comfortable season that offered a plethora of prey to hunt. The only problem was with all the young around, prey became even more dangerous. Then he remembered summer. He remembered how hot it got and how at times there seemed to be no escape from the dreaded heat. He remembered how it too seemed to be a good hunting season but how the heat would often tire one out sooner than usual. Now, he was in the season that he heard was called fall. The temperatures were falling and there always seemed to be a gentle breeze. Prey seemed to still be fairly good and they weren't as dangerous without their young to protect. He noticed how the leaves on the trees changed color and began to fall and, he realized that it was by far his favorite season

On this particular day, Croix was out taking a lazy stroll through the pack lands. It was unlike him not to have a destination in mind or to be training for the agoge that he would soon be attending. Instead, he decided just to take the day easy and see what came with it. That was, if he didn't get bored before something happened. However, as a howl from a young she wolf rang through the trees, he knew boredom wouldn't be a problem. Instantly, he trotted towards the sound, ears perked with curiosity. It wasn't long before he arrived at the falls and upon further inspection, found the source of the call. It was a pup he hadn't seen before, one with silver fur and purple eyes. She looked to be a little younger than himself, maybe by a month or two, and he walked over to her to introduce himself. "I'm Croix," he offered his name as a greeting before sitting down and asking, "Who are you?" He wondered if this pup was a sibling of his, one who also had the honor of calling the mighty alpha her father, or if she was just another average pup. But, those questions would come after he knew her name.

Hopping around as she chased falling leaves, the little silver girl laughed at her own antics as she zipped here and there. Such a great day! Not that she didn't love being with her family but it was nice to break out and discover things in her own. A sudden gust of wind make her stop and sit down as she watched the brightly colored leaves dance in the breezes embrace. Suddenly a voice was heard and she turned to see a young male walking towards her, one she didn't recall meeting before. She liked his earthy colors and dark eyes, she was apt to find positive things about those she met as soon as she could. 

"H-hi." She smiled sweetly at the newcomer who seemed around her age but was already bigger than her. Not that it bothered her, she was used to being smaller than most. "I'm D-D-Dianthe. B-but you c-can call me D-Dia if y-you would like." Her stutter was causing her to be self-conscious for a moment, not everyone had the patience to talk to her since it took a bit longer for her to get her tongue to cooperate. Watching carefully to see if he would be annoyed or make fun of her, Dianthe cast her bright eyes over his face to judge his reaction. 

"W-what do you w-want to be w-when you grow up?" An odd opening question but all she had heard lately from other pups lately is Agoge training and warrior practice or the studying of plants so the future was strongly stamped in her little mind. Honestly she wasn't entirely sure right now what she wanted but she did like making others happy and feel good. Perhaps she would be a healer like her sisters wished to be. Still, she had lots of time to decide. Tilting her head, she waited for his answer patiently with the thumping of her tail keeping a steady tempo on the ground.

As the feme ran around chasing leaves, Croix couldn’t help but wonder how someone could be so entertained by something so insignificant. Sure, he enjoyed watching the leaves change color and fall from their perches. But, nothing like chasing those leaves would be able to satisfy him. He enjoyed hunting, fighting, learning, and getting better and better. He enjoyed spending his time learning to be his father, the alpha of Kairos, so that he could impress him and show him how much he wanted to be like to him, to one day share his power and glory. To one day, hopefully, help lead this mighty pack.

“Alright Dia,” he nodded testing out her name it finding it suited her. Though he was interested in her stuttering, he made sure to brush it off. He may not have been the friendliest wolf, too caught up in what was good for himself alone to care much about others. But, he wouldn’t just flat out hurt another wolf. “What litter are you from?” He asked her, wanting to know rather she was a sibling or just a wolf who the blessing to be born into his father’s pack.

“What do I want to be when I grow up?” he asked repeating her question. “I don’t want to be just one thing. I want to be strong, mighty, powerful. I want to be a leader, one who is always bettering himself and those around him. I want to be feared by my enemies and respected by my followers. I want my name to be the name spoken on the haunting wind that blows on the dead of night, telling of great things yet to come. I want to be like father, but better,” he growled as he finished talking, making himself look bigger. He may be young at the moment, too young to do much, but he had a lot of youth left ahead of him and that time would be spent training. He would not make light of the life his father gave to him.

She smiled that he used her shortened name, it made things less formal and she felt she may be able have a new friend. Maybe. She was known to be a little shy around strangers despite her vibrant energy. When he asked who her parents were, she lifted her head high. "T-t-tala and Goliath." She wasn't unaware that her mother was just a vessel used by her father, but the fact she could claim to be an alphas daughter made her feel special. Despite the plethora of others that could make the same claim. "W-w-what about y-you?" 

Her smiled faded as he unfolded his plans for the future. He was growling at her and she didn't know why. Was he trying to scare her? Her tail stopped thumping on the ground and a cautious light flickered in her lilac eyes. "H-h-how can you be greater than Father?" She didn't mean it as an insult but pure curiosity. Father was the largest, strongest wolf she ever knew and it was hard to picture someone besting him.

"W-w-will you take your egg to him?" She didn't have any idea what that really entailed, but she knew it was important for a boy when he went through the Agoge. She knew it was dangerous and difficult, girls Were a rare exception to go, like Lilith. Frankly she was glad of that, she didn't want to go. Not being as tough as the others would certainly be a disadvantage. 

"Is your brother g-g-going to go?" Assuming he had one, anyway. She guessed everyone did in some way, after all half siblings were in abundance so she figured he could answer in agreement no matter what. "M-mine will. B-both of them." She wondered to herself about Apollo. He would be away from Missy for a long time and everyone knew they were practically attached at the hip to each other.

While her words gave accuracy to his suspicions, he still knew he was above her. Not only was he a male and she a female, a fact that would automatically make him more superior but, in his mind, the only female whose pups could be more important than his litter would be Datura’s. He nodded his head, satisfied, before answered her question, “Messoria and Goliath,” he said proudly.

He watched as her smile faded with his words and her tail stopped wagging, but it didn’t bother him at all. Not all wolves in Kairos, not even those born from his father, could handle the idea of becoming like their father, strong, powerful, feared and respected. He was one the few that could but she seemed to be the opposite. “By learning, by learning all that he can teach me and by learning from any mistakes he might make. I want to carry on his legacy, and I want that legacy to continue to get better. After all, to think one is so perfect that they have no improvement is a thought that will lead to one’s ultimate demise,” he nodded as he finished talking.

“Yes,” he said without the slightest bit of hesitation. “I will find the best egg I possibly can and will deliver it straight to him. There is no other wolf I would rather have as my mentor and my teacher. No other wolf could help me reach my full potential than father.” He couldn’t wait for the agoge and the thought sent exciting chills running down his spine. He would not settle for the first egg he could find but would seek out the best egg, conquer any trials he faced along the way, and would deliver to his father in one piece.

“I can only assume he will go,” he said talking about not one, but all of his brothers. Croix often wandered alone, away from his family so he actually wasn’t sure what they would be going. He couldn’t see them missing the agoge though. He certainly wasn’t the only one in his family with ambition.

His mothers name was familiar, she had heard it many times since she was very small. A honored hunter turned consort, Messoria had quite some standing within the pack. She could easily see this male was quite proud of his rank within the pup world. Tilting her head as she thought this over, Dia tried to decide if it bothered her or not. Either way it was how life was and she couldn't change any of it. Shrugging, the purple eyed flower child decided she didn't care. Others ambitions were their own and didn't really affect her. If he thought he could be better than Goliath than let him try. If he succeeded, it would surely be amazing. If not, at least he would have given his best, no one could really ridicule him for that.

"It would be good for F-Father to know w-w-what your egg says." She added, trying to find something fitting for the discussion. "Aft-t-ter all, it is his decision w-what rank you'll get in the long run." Honestly, not a lot of he the ranks open for females were not exactly intriguing for her. Healing seemed most fitting but so many girls were talking about that, she was sure there would be too many if they all followed through. Dia didn't fit in here, that was becoming more and more obvious. 

"W-w-will you have a harem t-t-too?" A very mature question for the young pup, she didn't even know exactly what that was. She knew it was several females for one male, but she didn't know entirely what it meant to be part of one or that harems were made up of females to be breeding stock for that one males seed. "J-j-just like father?"

Croix watched as the female tilted her head and frowned as he wondered what was going through her head. He was not fond of being unaware of the thoughts that those he was around had. Could she be wondering if her litter ranked higher than his since that had been what they were talking about? Surely she was not that foolish. So then could she be wondering something like if she wanted to stay and talk to the male? His own head tilted slightly as he knew that could be a very good possibility. Whatever it was she had been thinking though, he was thankful when she started to talk again.

“Exactly,” he replied as she spoke of the benefits of his father being the one to read his egg. He knew good and well what power Goliath held over him and his rank and chances of moving up within Kairos. That was part of the reason why he would not settle for anyone less than his father. “I am hoping that one of many ranks I am interested in will be given to me, my goal is to continuously move up through the warrior ranks. To continuously show my worth, my skills, and my strength,” he said with a growl. He had very high standards he wanted to live up to and he was determined to do so.

“Oh I hope so,” he replied with a devilish grin. Even though he had a year to go before he hit sexual maturity, already he was interested in all of the good stuff. He knew that as Goliath’s son he had a job to do of producing strong and honorable sons and his hope was that throughout his life he would give his father many grandsons to be proud of. “Just like father,” he agreed with a nod.
