When the time comes….? Those words chase themselves around within the confines of her mind leaving a strange painful twang in her heart. One she did not understand and did not care to dwell upon, it was not like they were more than passing strangers. Right? Not able to sort through the sensation in a matter of moments she pushed it to the side, another thing to examine at a later time when she was safely alone. The stony wall was crumbling, at least when it came to him, she knew that without an ounce of doubt. What she was uncertain over was if she actually wanted to rebuild that wall to keep him out…or not.
She had half expected him not to answer her outburst, as rude as it had been coupled with the quiet look that covered his features. Surely he thought there was something wrong with her and was simply humoring her. But humoring or not she couldn’t seem to control the sudden warm throb in her heart at the way he complimented her. Secretly she thought he needed to get his head examined by one of those machines the humans so enjoyed, except he seemed so honest. The look in those intense blue eyes that met her own pale yellow ones held nothing but open honesty within them like he truly believed what he was saying.
Deciding it was a wiser…and safer…course of action to leave the subject be she was glad when he made a reply to her attempt at a joke. Thus she seized upon it like a starved beast, sinking her fangs in. Tilting that head to the side she allowed a slow smile to spread across her lips, “Other ways? I suppose I will have to be creative…”
It seemed their conversation was ever a roller coaster as the topic shifted to a darker thought, curiously she had an urge to share her past with him, to tell him what had happen. How she had failed, because in truth there was no positive side to her tale. No lesson to be learned. Only loss pain and sorrow that had left scars far deeper than those that adorned her physical form. But she was not ready even as she opened her mouth to speak she froze unable to push the words out. Turning that gaze away for a moment she would pace a few steps away from before turning and retracing those steps. “I…can’t..” She managed. A faint bitter smile crossed her maw, though she made no comment on his fallen angel comment. If what he said were true then it was not simply damaged wings she held, but shattered wings, incapable of flight. But she did not wish to say that aloud.
“Hmmm that certainly sounds… ominous.. I suppose I will have to learn patience in order to uncover your schemes..and keep my curiosity in check..” She gave him a smirk of his own not in the least fooled by his ‘innocent’ act. “When would you like to begin your lessons, Captain?” She had much to teach him, never mind it had been some time since she ate something. She would need to return to Othala lands soon to hunt.
