He needed to take some time to himself to get away from the entirety of Kairos. They had had a huge success when it came to overtaking Valyn, but shortly after came a time of mourning. Datura and Goliath were leaving which meant that Kairos was being passed on to Typhon. Onyx was glad for Typhon, but the circumstances were horrible. This was not how things were supposed to go, and the one true individual that had given Onyx a chance in life had left him. His heart broke and he couldn't supress the anger that coursed through his veins. He needed to get away from the island that reminded him so much of his adopted mother. And so he made his way to Acerbus, one of their newer territories to clear his mind and think. Onyx just needed his own space before he seriously had a fucking meltdown and he didn't want to rip the wrong wolf's face off. He stormed across the terrain, his strides lengthy as the brute was eager to put more space between him and the island he had become so fond of. The realization that he had come from Valyn was also weighing heavily on his mind. He hadn't spoken a single word to anyone about it but it was still astonishing and disappointing all at the same time. If others found out he had come from failure he was almost positive they would assume he would be a failure. That was all that he needed right now was the disapproval of the rest of the pack bearing down on his shoulders. He continued onward, a blur of black and silver as he ran. His body was seething with inner turmoil and he couldn't help but feel like that he was losing it all.
Unknowingly he was headed towards a man-made area of Acerbus. This particular area was where the mines lied but Onyx could careless honestly. He continued to run until finally he stopped, his sides heaving and his legs feeling like they were complete jello. He closed his eyes and inhaled and exhaled harshly. I hate this. I hate everyone! He snarled before hanging his head in-between his front legs. His birth mother had abandoned him and now his adoptive mother had abandoned him in his time of need. He had no idea what his outcome from the Agoge meant and had no idea on how to change his course in life. He had little to no direction and was utterly screwed. He hated himself more and more everyday and the only thing keeping him from doing suicide was the fact that it was too much of an easy out. He needed some kind of an outlet- he needed to hurt someone, make them feel the anguish that he felt. He lowered his haunches to the ground then as he sat and finally caught his breath. His eyes opened to glare out at the expanse of land before him. Not a single soul in sight, just the way he liked it. Maybe he could just disappear and then everything would go away- but he knew he couldn't do that. He couldn't leave behind his adopted family, especially now that his adopted brother had become alpha of a pack of over thirty wolves. Typhon would need his help and Onyx wouldn't let him down, no matter what kind of shit he was dealing with on his own accord. He would worry about all of this other stuff later or just ignore it entirely but right now his main priority was helping Typhon figure out this monumental task at hand. For now though he would breathe.
notes: he is beyond angry and a whirl of emotions but I figured what better time for the two of them to get closer lol tagged:Typhon word count: 628 status: complete
While the rest of Kairos mourned the loss of the Emperor and the Matriarch on Ina'mos, Typhon had other places to be; it was high time he explored all that Kairos controlled, especially now that he shouldered responsibility for all of it. He had never explored Acerbus, never had the chance, and so he had made the swim and headed toward a land unknown to him. His intention was to refresh the markers and patrol the border for a time, sorting out his feelings before he ventured back to the island to continue making necessary changes to the hierarchy of his pack.
As he trudged along, heart heavy and head filled with morose thoughts, the young brute struggled to keep himself positive. It was true, his parents had left him, and with more work than he had ever been responsible for, but perhaps it would be a good thing. He had always wanted his own pack, though he never once thought he would control all of Kairos; the task was daunting, but if he could manage it, he would no doubt earn the respect--and perhaps admiration--of the entire pack, which would only help him as a leader. Should he prove himself, there would be no doubt about his leadership skills, and thus Kairos would flourish.
A snarl cut through the air as he traversed the barren lands, causing his tall ears to perk and his head to turn. It was then that he noticed the overwhelming scent of his pack member, Onyx, a practical brother; how he had not noticed the smell before was beyond him, but it was clear now that he must had been following it without really noticing. The sound of his brother's anguish pierced Typhon's heart as Valeria had pierced his flesh weeks ago, and the large male's sadness called out to Onyx's. They were not far apart, and so Ty let out a soft, sad howl, a gentle sound meant to alert the dark male to his presence.
As he came into view, Typhon frowned at his adopted relative, knowing that the loss of Datura must have hit him as hard as it did her blood. "Onyx," he said softly, sadly, approaching the wolf cautiously in case he did not want any company. It was a tense air that surrounded the other male, and so Typhon stayed a fair distance away, in case Onyx attacked him--out of spite or sadness. "I... don't know what to say."

His fury soon escalated into complete sadness. Onyx had been trying his hardest to fight the sadness that threatened to overwhelm him, but it was apparent that his efforts were of no use. It seemed like all of his anger and fury just drained from his body leaving him to feel nothing but the complete and utter sadness that coursed through his veins. This was why he had come to Acerbus, to mourn on his own. If he was around the others and could see all of their mourning it would only break him further. He needed to summon some amount of strength and pick himself up but how was he to do that when the only wolf that had loved and cared about him was gone? Datura had been the only one to give him a chance in life. She could have easily left him to die back in the jungle of Kal'Dyne but she had instead decided to adopt him. He was not sure what she had seen in him, he wished he could have had time to ask her what it was that she saw in him to give him some sense of direction- but alas it was too late. Everything was crumbling around him, Get a hold of yourself! Angry tears threatened to spill from his eyes but he WOULD NOT cry. He would not stoop to such a level. It was while he was dealing with this inner turmoil that he heard an equally saddened call reach his ears. It was Typhon and he was close. Onyx couldn't believe that he hadn't realized this sooner but it was too late now. Typhon soon came into view, his adopted brother's larger frame riddled with sadness as well. Onyx's eyes went to the fresh scar above Typhon's eye, a reminder of what he had conquered. But with such an accomplishment had come a major blow and a major responsibility. If Onyx was feeling like shit he could only imagine how Typhon was feeling.
Onyx. I...don't know what to say. For a moment all that could be felt around them was tension and LOTS of it. But Onyx exhaled slowly, getting rid of the bad karma as well as he could. There is nothing you can say. He responded in his usual monotone vocals except there was a tinge of sadness within them. How are you doing brother.. His words had softened and slowly he moved forward to close the distance between him and Typhon. He was not afraid of his brother striking him, if he did Onyx would welcome the pain but he would not fight him. Onyx sat on his haunches then, his orange occuli focused on his face. There was no telling where Typhon's thoughts and feelings were at. He imagined he was just as equally saddened and furious by the outcome of their parent's leaving. But he also knew that Typhon had a lot of responsibility on his shoulders now and he knew that he would do whatever he could to soften the blow. Enough about me.. Your the important one here. His vocals held that tell tale jokers tone for a moment, trying to ease up the tension around them. But it was true in Onyx's mind- Typhon was more important. He was the ALPHA of Kairos now- and Onyx would be damned if he saw him fail. He knew that Typhon would never fail, he had complete faith in his adopted brother- he just knew he would be there to help him pick up the pieces whether he wanted him to be or not. So what's the plan? He figured he would get to business, get them thinking about the important things versus the mourning, life moved on after all and they too would move on with it.

Typhon was unsure how his presence would be reacted to; he and Onyx had not started on the best of terms, but the two had grown close in the past few weeks, and the darker brute had been a vital asset in Kal'dyne only a brief time ago. The fresh emperor had grown to care about his adopted brother, and he now saw what his own mother had seen when she had snatched the young male from where he had been abandoned. The brute was cool, collected, and fierce, not to mention brave; he had not batted an eye at the thought of challenging an entire pack at Typhon's side, and had stood back respectfully and let the larger male fight his battle without interfering because he believed in his brother.
Now, though, the entire land was tense, especially the land occupied by two males who had just lost their mother--for Datura had been a mother to Onyx as much as she had to Ty, and he was no longer too possessive of her to accept that. The dark male spoke, his voice full of sadness, and the Emperor found himself ignoring his own pain to instead feel bad for his brother. It was a thousand times easier for him to focus on his pack mates than it was for him to think of his own pain; though they would all recover, it was vitally important that the majority of the pack came to terms with the events that had transpired and kept life rolling as usual. Typhon had an idea of how to do that... but he would need help.
"Don't worry about me, Onyx," he said softly, moving himself so that he could approach his brother and gently touch his muzzle to the top of the black wolf's head in a show of affection--rare, from him, but now that Datura was gone, he had no one, and neither did Onyx. "I have too much now to worry about for sadness. And we are all important, brother. Every one of us. Kairos will live on as it always has because of that."
He paused for a moment, settling his rump on the cool ground and glancing off in the distance, gathering his thoughts. There were many things that needed doing, and it seemed Typhon would require multiple extra minds in order to keep Kairos running smoothly. His brothers--even his adopted one--were high on the list of trusted wolves. Green eyes turned back to Onyx, the sadness gone and replaced with focus and determination. "I'd like you to become a sentinel, Onyx. Patrol the borders, refresh the pack markers, watch for potential uprising from... enemies," he paused, scowling as the thought of Valyn retaliating against him rose in his mind. Valeria had not lost easily, and would likely be back for more.
"I understand, if you do not want the responsibility. It's a lot to handle all at once," Typhon continued, his voice softer but his eyes just as hard as before. "But the distraction will do you good. And I would trust precious few others with the task, if we're being honest. I will let you think it over, brother, if you need time, but I will need an answer within a day or two."
Words || 569 Tags || Onyx Notes || Gettin' the groove back awwwww yeah. Also! I hope you don't mind if I change the course a bit and make Onyx and Sentinel before putting him on the Council? I want to build pack structure up as gradually as I can and since Dus and Jay are on Hiatus I need more wolves in the warrior class. Dx
