History:Raksha was born to loving parents, but despite their love, they were not adequate guardians for their litter of two. Both having a high place in the pack, they were swept away by pack duties and left Raksha and her brother, Mukesh, to grow up without the close, loving care of a parent. They were not physically neglected, but rather emotionally neglected, being fed adequate food and drink but there was an absence of parental figures. Realising how important parents were in a wolf's life, she swore to never neglect her pups in that way should she ever have pups.
During their youth, Raksha and Mukesh held a mutual sibling rivalry, although this grew into hatred on Mukesh's side. Once Raksha had become a fully-fledged Hunter and her brother a skilled Healer, the strangely marked female let go of the childish rivalry but the underlying negative connection remained for Mukesh, always trying to beat his sister in life.
A few months into her adulthood, she discovered her parents dead during hunting on food for Raksha, their bodies found on a hunting patrol with a handsome male by the name of Aden. Aden had been a good friend to Raksha's parents even though he was two years younger than them, making him one year older than Raksha. The pair bonded in their joint grief, slowly falling in love over the span of six months.
It was at the end of these six months that Raksha reached sexual maturity and the pair, completely infatuated with each other, mated on a cold winter's night leaving Raksha carrying the love of her life's young. Aden did all that he could to care for Raksha, insisting that she stepped down from her hunting duties to rest for the pups, but Raksha decided that she could be of use in this state and it would not harm the unborn children since she was not very heavily pregnant.
So the pair continued to serve as Hunters for the first few months of Raksha's pregnancy. One fateful afternoon, the couple was hunting, a visible bulge in the femme's belly showing blossoming life. They were out in the forest, unaware of a dark predator lurking behind the duo. It caught Raksha by surprise when something slashed at her tail, and Aden was quick to respond and defend his mate, shoving Raksha aside to face a bear alone. He saved Raksha, yes, but Aden was mauled by a bear in her place, Raksha feeling forever guilty that she only got in a few claws and bites and failed to save her mate from his simultaneous death with the bear.
In Aden's honour, Raksha raised his pups alone, showing them the affection that her own childhood lacked. Once they were a month old, she left her brother, Mukesh, to care for them whilst she hunted for food instead of waiting for the other Hunters to bring her food; she felt terrible and useless just like that, but knew that she could not leave her pups. But she deemed them old enough and Mukesh was the closest wolf in the pack to Raksha, so she trusted her brother, rivalry forgotten, to care for her litter.
When Raksha returned with a juicy hare in her maw, however, she found her pups convulsing violently on the ground, mouths foaming, berries scattered about the place and Mukesh standing there proudly, a pile of undoubtedly poisonous leaves at his feet. Herbs were not just for healing. To finish them off, Mukesh took advantage of his sister's state of shock and slashed a pup's throat, their petite body spasming even more intensely.
Blinded by tears and betrayal, Raksha fought her larger brother, but it was with pure emotion and not the calculated blows coupled with size from her brother so she fled eventually, injured and heartbroken. She felt intensely guilty for letting her pups die like that before her very eyes and continued to carry out her pack duties but with a lingering depression.
After a while, it became too much to live within such vicinity with her litter's murderer. She fled, but this time not only from her brother; from the pack as well, the pack that had hurt her so much, and lived her life as a loner.
At least, she would be a loner until a chain of events led to her seeking the Valyn pack's shelter and eventually becoming an Archangel of the feminist pack.
Personality:Her treatment as a pup coupled with having had her own litter made her the motherly type with a great affinity towards all pups. She is protective of all youth no matter their heritage or other variables, holding the strong belief that pups are the future of everything; their future was her future and all other adults' futures. She has no hesitation to take in abandoned pups or babysit litters and is unafraid to interfere with abusive parenting or parents neglecting their children, whether on purpose or not. She is a go-to for advice with pups, having experienced what could go wrong with bad parenting.
From her traumatic past, Raksha has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, survivor guilt being a large portion of her mental infestation. Not only does she blame herself for the deaths of her parents—"I should have not asked for an elk to eat that night,"—her mate—"I should have fought the bear with him—that way we could have both survived, oh what a terrible mate I am,"—and her pups—"I should have known better than to leave them with Mukesh, and I just stood there as they died! I should have been there for them!"—but she also is prone to blaming herself for terrible things that happen to others. Even if the fault is obviously not hers, her mind will find some way to twist the blame onto herself.
To accompany her kind nature, Raksha is extremely selfless. She will help out anyone in need and, without hesitation, sacrifice herself or anything of hers so that others do not have to suffer as well. This is partially because she thinks that she 'deserves it' for harming her loved ones and partially in fear of having murder on her paws again.
Her capability to love is enormous, and although she finds it hard to fall in love romantically, her charismatic side will easily befriend others. Once she is friends with someone, she will frantically fear for their safety, wondering if she attracts trouble and will end up hurting them. Because of this, she can seem overly protective of loved ones, but she genuinely thinks that she makes wolves around her get hurt and occasionally seeks isolation for a day in fear of bringing harm to those who she loves.
As a derivative of Mukesh's betrayal, it takes Raksha longer to trust males than fellow females. She is unsure as to whether or not they are safe because whilst Mukesh hurt her in the past, Aden was also a chivalrous gentleman. Although, Raksha occasionally, on her worst days, thinks that Aden might have died on purpose to break his mate's heart; those are the days when she completely isolates herself from the male population, afraid of heartbreak.
Finally, Raksha does not hold grudges. It was her barely present, although still lingering, grudge against Mukesh that killed her pups. Learning from her previous mistakes, she is quick to forgive and lets the wolf being forgiven know about her forgiveness. She tries her best to be on good terms with everyone so that no harm comes either her way or the way of her loved ones because of rivalry, instead seeking peace among mutuals. However, this does not extend to pack rivalry; she is still loyal to any pack of hers, although she would never maim in battle.
