A wolf with onyx-colored fur was walking to the pool late at night, waking up from a deep slumber, bothered by the intense thirst she felt gnawing at her throat. Lazily walking and moving her legs almost hesitantly, Rain's steps were calm and silent, making sure to not wake up the surrounding pack members that may be sleeping nearby. After a few seconds, she found herself in front of the sparkling pool that tickled her toes with its cold waters. Lowering her head and drinking from the precious, refreshing liquid, she occasionally stopped drinking water to observe her surroundings to make sure it was safe. Once she finished and felt her need satisfied, she sat down and lifted up her grey eyes to meet the skies above her. The stars were distant, and the night was unusually quiet today. The crickets were almost too silent, but she liked it that way. For a second, her mind went blank as a cloud of thoughts began rise from within her.
She had no idea what had happened. Everything was like a blur to her. She remembered clearly the day that Koder told her that he loved her, and from that moment on, she was lost into his eyes. Dreams of forming a family began to form inside of her heart. With him, she felt truly happy, and everything was perfect. But, for some twisted, cruel reason, fate decided that she could not be happy anymore. Rain no longer could feel his soft fur, or look into his beautiful eyes. She could no longer hear his voice, or feel his warmth during the cold nights. All the memories, all the dreams of them ever being something more were now destroyed. And Lydia? Even worse. The small pup had also vanished with Koder, to never be seen again. She had the most beautiful purple and blue eyes she had ever seen. She was the perfect dream, and she was also ripped away from her, as a punishment for a deed she did not do. She felt like she was in a perpetual rainy day, or in a perpetual nightmare. She had no idea what to do anymore, even if she had joined Othala. She felt strange, out of place and withdrawn. She hadn't told Kiva about these feelings yet, but maybe the silver Aesir had already noticed her distance lately.
She knew that maybe life would be better in the future, but for now, she was doubting it. She always pulled through and she was strong enough to get out of depression like she always did, but for now, she knew that feeling like this was okay. She wasn't expected to be happy all the time, and she knew optimism was tested again and again. However, she took the time to mourn. She took the time to mourn Koder, Lydia, and what could have happened next to them. She wanted to process everything, and in time, she knew that things would get better. But, why did it hurt so much? Why did her chest feel so empty? Rain kept looking at the stars, smiling with melancholy, thinking of her loved ones as tears began to emerge from her pale grey eyes. The moon was shining brightly, and Rain looked at it in silence as she continued to think, lost in her thoughts, not knowing that her nostalgia would get heavier and heavier upon her shoulders as time passed by...
