Somewhat of a jumpscare!
Somewhat of a jumpscare!
The numb feeling that always overwhelmed his senses overtook him that morning. Something about today was different--a feeling of wanted to leave it all behind, of feeling stuck in this place, was controlling his mind today. He felt his legs and face numb, as if they did not want to respond to what his mind was telling him to do, but it was no surprise for the stoic male. Growling inwardly, the obsidian brute woke up as soon as the first rays of sun light hit the horizon and wiped away the stars that illuminated the silent nights.
Ever since that moment where his mother, Roka, found him torturing a deer, things between them had been tense. Taranis was a master of disguise, but he could not fool his mother. She carried him in his womb, and as dark and as convoluted as the onyx male was, he always held this in high regard. He could argue that the only beings in this island that he respected were his family, and for that reason he decided tell them about his departure. He observed their faces, their reactions--concern, melancholy, pride--every emotion that was written in their faces was different, each according to their character, making Taranis observe them quietly before embracing each and every one of his family. And, as quick as the blink of the eye, his back was turned, heading to the unknown lands of Vor'asa.
The swim was violent--as huge as they were, Taranis had to admit that wolves were not meant for swimming. However, he had to do it to survive. For a moment, as he swam away from home, he felt little by little how the strings that attached him to his homeland began to dissolve in the waters as he kept swimming, moving each leg in rhythm with the unstable waves. He often found himself cursing as he felt the salty, disgusting waters of the ocean enter his mouth and taint his tongue with its insulting flavor; however, his travel was not that long after all. After some time, he had arrived to the shores of Vor'asa, panting and dripping of that cursed salty water he swore he would never taste again.
Shaking off his fur, the grip of exhaustion began to tangle him like a serpent, but the obsidian male refused to give in. He had to explore, he had to make his mark in this place, observe every crevice and every corner and plan his time in this territory. The dark figure loomed over the horizon making his way throughout the dryer terrain, stomping his paws as his weight left behind big pawprints on the sand.
Days after days passed by, and the dark male had now spent a week in the famed Agoge, laying down and resting his weakened--but not vulnerable--body under the shade of a tree. His mind was usually buzzing with continuous, intruding thoughts, but today his mind was quiet. Images of him torturing the deer flashed through his mind, and so did the eyes of the fox he had tortured. They had one thing in common--they looked at him like a monster, and their fear for him was bigger than the physical pain they were feeling. How did the mind work? Starting to get into a trance, he felt a sudden rush of adrenaline and excitement as he thought about their faces, their cloudy, teary eyes, as if they were wanting to say a word that had passed through his mind many times--monster. All he knew was that during his stay in this so called Agoge, he had felt freedom to be however he wanted to be. He knew his mother would not be proud of the things he had done during his time here, but as always, he shut down his mind.
He was going to stop listening to his conscience. It was the only way to break the strings that held him back.
He had strings, but now... he's free.
