It was a fine day. Er, it was a fine enough day. For some time now, the angry clouds unleashed their burden upon the souls of Acerbus drenching everything in sight. Rivers of water flowed throughout the land on dirt that was too laden with water to take in anymore. However, in spite of all this, today was a good day! The rain had let up for a bit but the dark grey clouds still loomed over the earth threatening to spill at any second without any kind of warning. Exodus had taken the break in the nasty weather to check on things and to make sure there was not extensive damage done to the land. He had unwillingly taken along his second born son who refused to stop crying until Exodus agreed to take him with him. Róvanfaer smirked as he jumped from puddle to puddle. Let Meriden and Kodiak sleep! They were missing out on all the fun! Giving a yip, Rovan crouched down and thrust his hindquarters in the air. His nose was inches away from the water below, but his eyes were focused on the puddle ahead.
With a powerful leap, more or less, the pup flew through the air and landed into the next puddle with a loud splash scaring away some nearby birds. Exodus turned around with a displeased expression and then smiled with a soft chuckle. How could he be mad at that? Still holding his small smile, the black wolf turned and continued ahead with Róvanfaer bouncing behind him. Suddenly, Exodus head a kur-PLUNK behind him. Spinning around, the brute caught sight of a drenched pup hanging on the edge of a rather deep puddle with a look of shock and fear written all over his face. Throwing back his head and giving a loud laugh, the sound echoed through the silent forest. When the sound died out, Exodus gave a genuine grin and strode forward to pluck his son out of the freezing waters. “Perhaps it would be wise to be wary of the puddles you pounce in, my son.”
Róvanfaer sat where his dad had placed him and shivered from the startling surprise and from the cold. Soon, he was warmed up by Exodus’ drying tongue. “Yes papa.” He squeaked and sniffled. That was the last time he would be puddle jumping. Later, Exodus had wandered away to attend to a fallen log that was causing water to pool up and threaten what he knew was a large den for a family of hares. He had specifically instructed Rovan to stay put, but of course the little pup did no such thing. Instead, Rovan took off the second his father’s back was turn. Racing away, he yipped with glee at his new found freedom. Heading over towards the large lake which went by a name he still couldn’t pronounce, Rovan stopped at the edge and peered in.
The dark murky water below held his reflection. For the first time since his birth, Rovan really took the time to see himself in the ‘mirror’. “I didn’t know I was so ripplie.” He said and tilted his head to the side as he observed the ripples in the water distorting his features. Shrugging it off with a puppish giggle, Rovan placed a paw in the water and drew it back with a yelp. “Cold!” He exclaimed with a pout. Planting his romp down right there, he glared at the water. He wanted to go swimming! However, his previous experience with the water and the temperature held him back.((Densie shall NPC a fish. No one else.))
