Dusk was wondering north admiring the wild beauty of the Xayar forest and its abundance of life. He hand already holed three rabbits and treed four squirrels and was currently on the trail of a forth rabbit when it zigged instead of zagged allowing Dusk to catch up to it and sink his teeth into its hide. Lifting the hare off the ground he shook it till it went limp. With a smile he pined it down with his for paws and started to rip into it. It would be a tasty snack that would last him the day. It was only after he was done licking the blood from his muzzle and started north again did his nose twitched with the smell of the sent markers. It stopped him in his tracks, his ears twitching back and forth and his nose working to see if he could catch any hint of the wolves that had claimed this territory.
Thinking to him self “I wonder if they are the ones, I am tired of this wondering and it is going to be another harsh winter if I have to do it alone again” taking a few more steps into the territory he stayed on guard, with his brownish red tail out strait and ridged. “I was heading north for a reason, I do love the sharp crisp air every seems so much cleaner here than the aired south lands. Perhaps I will find some like mined wolves here”
Mustering up his courage he trotted forward to find the wolves of the territory, though not too far, so he could make a run for it if need be. He was also keeping a close eye on his back trail he did not want to be surrounded.
It was the scent of blood that first caught the attention of the Beta. The aroma of the dead was not unfamiliar to the wolf, it was the underlining scent that came with it that set him on edge. It was the scent of another wolf, one that he did not recognise. It was coming near one of the borders, and yes, there was the chance that the other had not actually crossed over, and taken prey from there pack lands, as he feared. However, the Beta could never just assume, and detouring from the border patrol he had begun in the other direction he turned, and with an easy, but quick run he began to head in that direction. It wasn’t long before the sight of a wolf broke through the coverage of the trees. He darted easily through the braches, having made a similar path many times before on border patrols. He was nearly upon the other wolf now, and he slowed down to approach with caution. That was not the only reason for slowing, however – he did not want to scare the other away, not well there was the possibility that he was not here to harm this territory or it’s wolves.
He could see the manned wolf now, and chances where the male could see him as well. The Beta guarded eyes followed the trail the other had made into the land. He was not far from the borders, and what ever prey he had come across had not been from this side of the border. However, that did not mean the stranger was faultless. Despite the obvious scent of a pack-border he had still crossed without permission. Kastiel had submitted himself to the knowledge that very few wolves where actually polite enough to howl at the border and get permission before entering a territory. All the same, it put him on edge every time. He had pulled to a stop now, a few feet away from the stranger. He stood in a dominant permission – he was Beta of this land, and the wolf before him was a stranger. “Greetings, wolf. Why have you crossed into our territory?” He tried to keep the annoyance from his tone – not annoyance that there was a stranger here, Kastiel was too kind for that to bug him. The annoyance was the disregard to the carefully placed scent-markers of the pack. He tilted his head lightly and waited for the other to say or do something, the tightening of Kastiel’s muscles a clear indication he was ready for any attack that might come.

(Hope its okay if I stick Haze in here) Haze was not far behind Kastiel as she too smelled the blood and was hoping to bring a meal back to the pack. Her delicate paws padded around the undergrowth, hoping that if the prey was still alive that she wouldn't scare it away. The femme kept herself downwind from the animal but when she sniffed the air she was disappointed to have caught the smell of two wolves. She recognized the beta's smell but was not familiar with the other wolf's smell. Her hopes of impressing the alpha and the rest of the pack by bringing back some prey were put on hold as she straightened herself out of her hunter's crouch.
The shy silvery femme padded quietly to the side of the beta, not taking her eyes off of the reddish wolf. She became worried that a confrontation may take place. Haze knew that the beta was not fond of wolves crossing the territory boundaries and ignoring the scent marks, a lesson that she had already learned when she first joined the pack.
She lowered her head slightly while standing next to the beta, making sure not to undermine his authority when in the presence of another wolf. But she was nervous that looking submissive in front of the loner would cause the brute to think that she was easy to overpower which with her limited fighting knowledge was probably true. She changed her stance to something a little more dominant.
Her grey eyes then met the red orange ones of the loner brute and she felt herself captivated by the shock of color the orbs portrayed and she glanced away for a split second in order to bring herself to focus. Haze looked back up at Kastiel as he spoke before turning back to the loner and narrowing her eyes in an attempt to look serious. She had to admit though, that she wasn't very convincing when it came to looking dominant.
((OOC: I am sorry about not howling I should have looked more closely at others joining threads. Dusk is young so we will blame his rudeness on that, not knowing all of the wolves customs yet. And Haze more the merrier, I say ))
Dusk smelled the Beta before he saw him and slowly turned to face him not wanting any of his actions to be miss interpreted as hostile. Taking a quick glance at the dark wolf with the cutting blue eyes, he was impressed. Dusk was perhaps slightly bigger than the older wolf but he could tell by his movement and the way he held himself that he had power, physical as well as mental. If all the wolves of this pack were like this he might have stumbled upon the right place. They didn’t out right attack him but still gave a strong front, he liked that. He yearned for the strength and security of a pack, being able to learn and grow together. His eyes then shifted downward not meeting the beta’s eyes, his tail also shifted down, dropping to a downward pointing postion, he wanted to show that he submitted to the wolf whose territory he was in but did not want to seem too weak that he could be taken advantage of. “Forgive my trespassing, I mean you no harm.”
His red-orange eyes then flashed to the smaller silver gray wolf that appeared, his eyes locking with hers he could sense she was not as strong as the darker wolf before him. He noticed her uneasiness at first and her shift to the more dominate stance. It was a good sign of pack unity in the very least even if the she-wolf may or may not be able to back it up. Dusk’s eyes quickly again found the lowered gaze before the beta. “I am Dusk, a loner and wanderer. I am in search of home and pack. I am a healthy, strong, and loyal wolf, I have some skill in hunting and more in fighting. Are you the Alpha of this beautiful territory?” His eyes shifting up somewhat with eagerness. Also to gage a bit more from Kastiel’s reaction, he hoped it was favorable. Then almost nervously he continued on “I can prove my worthiness in some way, if you wish”
Kastiel caught the scent of Haze as she passed into view, but he felt rather then saw her slid into place beside him. A submissive figure, which did not surprise him – he knew how self-conscious she was. He broke his gaze on the stranger – a momentary movement – to nuzzle her cheek gently, a simple gesture to tell her that she had every right to be here, and it was aimed to tap gently against her head in a way that indicated she should not hold her head down. She was changing her position to one a little less dominant even before his head got there however, and he smiled gently at her, impressed that she had done so on her own. His attention on her however was very abrupt – he didn’t like taking his gaze of a stranger, after all. Even as Kastiel watched however – the stranger did the perfect thing to amend his trespassing. He lowered himself to say he was no threat, and spoke with sincerity as he offered up his apology.
The Beta was impressed at the respectful gesture, and when he spoke next, the respect only grew. In fact, this was the most respectful wolf Kastiel had encountered yet. His voice was calm and assured, there was no fear of uncertainty in his words and his actions where following the letter of what was right for the situation. He wanted a home here? Kastiel had no reason to send him home. “Dusk, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I am not the Alpha of this land – that honour falls to Toiro. I am however the Beta, my name is Kastiel and have the power to accept you into Airila. I understand you did not mean to trespass. You do not need to prove your worth – you have already done so by showing me your honour” He paused here to let his long sentence sink in. he turned his attention momentarily to Haze once more, the gentle she-wolf that showed so much potential in this pack. “This is Haze” He introduced her, eyes shifting from member to stranger “Welcome to the lands of Shyia, Dusk”

Haze's ears twitched in happiness at the thought of getting to know this wolf in front of her. He seemed to be a courteous brute and one that could be of great use to the pack. She smiled a bit when he said that he would prove himself to Kastiel if needed. She knew that Kastiel wouldn't ask him to do so, as he had already showed himself to be a kind wolf.
The small silver femme turned to look at her beta, listening with an eagerness as he spoke. Her eyes lit up slightly as he welcomed the wolf into the pack and introduced her. Haze looked back at the reddish wolf and softly said her greetings at the mention of her name. But her quiet greetings didn't seem enough to the young femme. So in order to show a bit more of a warm welcoming she cautiously moved forward, touching her nose with the other wolf before retreating back in a shy way to stand by the pack's beta.
When Haze was an omega in her birth pack she had come to associate any type of contact with wolves as pain after receiving numerous beatings. It took all of her strength to even get close to another wolf, especially one she didn't know well. She didn't want to be closed off from other wolves but she was constantly fighting a battle with her cautious mind and it was hard to not let her mind win.
The smell of the dead rabbit snapped her out of her memories and reminded her of what she was doing before she had met the wolf before her. She felt bad for having to run off so soon without getting to learn much about the wolf in front of her but the need to prove herself had already sunken in and there was no way to ignore it.
She glanced back up at Kastiel before speaking. "I'm sorry to have to leave so soon, but I would like to finish my hunt before it gets dark if it's okay with you."
