So I love how Nali updated the Herbs & Medicines thread in the general info board to show where each plant resided. I was thinking we could do something similar for the different kinds of other animals on Anikira.
Specific species for the different biomes (fewer types of game in hotter climates, larger breeds of deer in "regular" climates, etc.)
Different kinds of predators for the biomes, as well as rarity level
Those are just two of the ideas I had. It can be modified. Oh, and I don't mind taking the reins of this project either, if that is preferred.
I think this is a very good idea, I was actually searching through threads the other day to see if were already had a thread with this information on it.
I would gladly help out as well, if you would like some extra assistance :).
Especially with the season change coming up different animals are going to be especially more difficult to find in certain areas. Either way I fully support this idea.
I think this is a good idea too. As long as Airila gets the best prey.
I'm not sure about rarity levels for the predators unless it could be changed. (eg. if you say bears are common in the Oriens the pack can't do anything to get rid of them because it would look like bears are always common there.) It might be better just to say what predators are able to live in each territory.
Like Snuff was saying, some sort of season thing would be cool too, maybe like the one in the conquest rules.
This has been something that has unofficially been on the staff to do list for years. <.< >.> <.< So if you guys want to take a crack at it, by all means go ahead.
Some of the board and subboard descriptions mention what kind of game appears in each area, so that would be your best place to start. And I agree including predators, prey, and season/climate info is a good idea.
Rarity level would be less important though given pack vs. solitary life styles, penchant for wandering vs. keeping a territory, ect. It'd be easier to keep things more generic and say "this is what is likely to live in X territory." This way people don't get pigeonholed into what kind of nonwolves they can include in posts.
Should we divide the territory up by regions? North, South, East and West and have whoever is volunteering do a specific region?
And I like the idea Nali about checking the boards for the animals that are listed there too ;) Makes there a bit less work. It would be nice though to have seasonal prey per region I think.
Hey guys, just gonna give a brief guideline for yas so when it comes time to post it in a big official info thread it'll all look the same. Hopefully it hits on the most important aspects. Feel free to fuss with it a little, but this is the big stuff.
Species Size: Small/Medium/Large Found In: List of Territories Habits: Large herd, small family group, solitary, that sort of thing Description: Brief description of the animal.

Okay. This is what I have so far. Some of the critters I listed could be found in Kamari (which I know you had volunteered for, Jay) given that Kamari rests beside the river.
Goliath Tigerfish Size: Large (up to five feet in length) Found In: Kamari, The Occasus, I’queyer Habits: Small schools Description: Very large, predatory fish that lives in the warmer, more turbulent waters of the Aughgar River. They feed on smaller fish, though they aren’t afraid to take on crocodiles or an animal that ventures too deep into the water.
Tilapia Size: Small (up to fifteen inches in length) Found In: Kamari, The Occasus, I’queyer Habits: Medium-sized schools Description: Small, harmless fish that live in medium schools in the Aughgar River. They feed mostly on algae and zooplankton.
Livingston’s Cichlid (also called “Kalingono”) Size: Small (males can be ten inches in length; females are smaller) Found In: Kamari, The Occasus, I’queyer Habits: Medium-sized schools Description: Small fish that live in the upper portion of the Aughgar River. They have the ability to “play dead” in order to hunt for prey. Males are also polygamous.
Syndontis Size: Small to Medium Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, I’queyer Habits: Medium-sized schools Description: Small- to medium-sized catfish that live in the deeper portions of the Aughgar River. These fish are covered in spotted markings. They have a tendency to swim belly-up, giving them the nickname upside-down catfish, and also make squeaking noises when handled, giving them another nickname “squeakers”.
Lungfish Size: Large (up to four feet in length) Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: Large, eel-like fish that live in the shallow waters of the Aughgar River. They are quite solitary due to the fact that they are cannibalistic. During breeding season (late winter) the male builds a nest and protects the young until they are large enough to fend for themselves.
Giant Snakehead Size: Medium (up to three feet in length) Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, I’queyer Habits: Mating pairs Description: Medium-sized fish that thrive in the Aughgar River. They live in breeding pairs and are known to be very protective of their young. They can survive without water for a length of time, due to a primitive lung behind the gills (mostly in mud or swamps).
Crocodile Size: Large (can reach up to thirteen feet in length) Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, I’quyer Habits: Small groups (called floats) Description: Large reptile that lives both in the Aughgar River as well as on its banks. While its main diet is fish that live in the river, they are known to attack prey that ventures too far into the water. Crocodile eggs provide a good meal for wolves, though it is extremely risky for one to attempt thievery.
Bullfrog Size: Small (males are around nine inches; females are much smaller) Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: Small, aggressive amphibian that lives in the warmer climates of Anikira, along the banks of the Aughgar River and the Turxos Creek. They are capable of eating small rodents and reptiles, as well as other amphibians. They bite when provoked.
River Frog Size: Small (females reach up to four inches in length (snout to vent); males are smaller) Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Small groups (called “armies” lol) Description: Small frog that lives in the Aughgar River as well as the Turxos Creek. They eat mostly insects, but are known to be cannibalistic. They are extremely quick to frighten, therefore will require skill for a wolf to catch them.
Clawed Frog (also called “Platanna”) Size: Small (females reach up to five inches in length (snout to vent); males are smaller) Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Groups (called “armies”) Description: Small, completely aquatic frog. They are tooth- and tongue-less, and cannot survive out of the water. They will eat just about anything they can find in the water, living or not.
Tree Frog Size: Tiny (only about an inch in size) Found in: The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: Tiny frog that thrives in areas nearest the Aughgar River and Turxos Creek. They live in trees, as the name suggests, though they venture to the water to lay their eggs. They eat insects.
Monitor Size: Large (up to nine feet in length) Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: Large lizard that is mostly aquatic, but are fast runners on land and are capable of climbing trees. They mostly prey on fish, frogs, juvenile crocodiles and eggs, snakes, small birds, small mammals, and insects, as well as whatever carrion they can find. They can injure a wolf, but it is unlikely that they could kill one.
Agama Size: Small (up to a foot in length) Found in: The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Male-dominated territories Description: Small lizard that is adapted to the heat of the Occasus, as well as the rocky terrain of Xisyn and the plains of I’queyer. They are polygamous, in that males will breed with any female in his territory while driving males out. They eat only insects.
Sand Gecko Size: Small (about three inches in length) Found in: The Occasus Habits: Mostly solitary Description: Light-skinned gecko that is adapted solely for the Sands. They spend days in burrows or caves, venturing out to the sands when the temperatures cool. They cannot climb smooth surfaces, but can dig through them if needed. They eat insects.
Spurred Tortoise Size: Medium (between two and three feet in length) Found in: The Occasus, Xisyn Habits: Solitary Description: Tortoise named after the spur-like scales that decorate their legs. They thrive in warmer climates (especially the Sands). They are herbivores, but they will sometimes eat fruit (if it can be found). They only come together during breeding season.
Leopard Tortoise Size: Medium (nearly two feet in length) Found in: Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: Highly passive tortoise that lives mostly in the Boulders and the Plains. When threatened, they will retract their head and legs (which produces an intimidating hissing noise as the air is pushed from the lungs) waiting out the predator. They are herbivores.
Sand Viper Size: Small (about fourteen inches in length) Found in: The Occasus Habits: Solitary Description: Venomous snake that thrives solely in the Sands. Females are usually larger than the males. They blend in very well with the sand, striking at unsuspecting victims before they can even see the snake.
Rock Python Size: Huge (can reach up to twenty feet in length) Found in: Kamari, The Occasus, Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: Very large snake that thrives near the banks of the Aughgar River. They eat smaller game (rabbits, large rodents) as well as medium-sized game (antelope, small deer, monitor lizards), though they are capable of consuming a small wolf. Females will protect a clutch of eggs for over three months, without leaving them for sustinence.
Black Mamba Size: Large (between eight and ten feet in length) Found in: Kamari, Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: Large, venomous snake that lives in various terrains (plains, rocky areas, woodlands, swamps). They are the fastest snake in the world, capable of reaching speeds of up to twelve miles an hour, though for only short spurts. Their venom can easily kill a large predatory, though they usually don’t attack unprovoked. Fun fact: They are named after the color of the inside of their mouths, not their scale color.
Viper Size: Medium (up to three feet in length) Found in: Xisyn, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: Medium-sized venomous snake that prefers the Plains or the Boulders. They are, for the most part, non-aggressive and prefer to back away from a fight, though they will attack when provoked. They are extremely venomous.
Scorpion Size: Tiny (roughly ten centimeters in length) Found in: The Occasus, Xisyn Habits: Solitary Description: Small arachnids with a venomous tail and a pair of strong grasping claws. Those that thrive in the Sands do not burrow during sandstorms, though they will burrow to avoid confrontation. When provoked, they will attack. The venom in their tail can be extremely potent.
First off I would like to thank Shayde for really doing such a good job with this. Like Nali said this has been on the staff to-do list for a very long time.
I've personally been looking for time to get around to researching different species and a making a header on each of the territory boards that would list specific predator and prey animals that could be found in that territory/region... Along with a syllabus thread in the General Info board that contains all of the species specifics.
Thank you everone that is helping out with our species list. You all are awesome, and for everyone that participates you'll get a little some thing for your time and devotion.
Tip: Don't just restrict your research to animals that live in North America. Anikira is a continent out on the Atlantic and can have different species from all over the world, Africa, Asia, and even Australia. Let your imagination take wing! <3
I don't have quite as many as Shayde but I might as well post the ones I have done.
Pronghorn Size: Large (4-5 ft long, 30-40 inches to shoulder) Found In: Kamari Habits: Large herd, adult males are solitary during the warmer months Description: Even-toed ungulate closely resembling the antelope. Males have larger horns than females, but both sexes are reddish brown with a white belly and white stripes across the throat. When startled they raise their tails as a warning to others in their herd. They have 320 degree vision and can run at speeds of up to 90km/h.
Red-necked Wallaby Size: Medium (2-3 ft long / tall) Found In: Kamari Habits: Mainly solitary, but can sometimes be found in small groups while feeding Description: Grey furred marsupial with a paler underside and a reddish tinge across the neck, related to the kangaroo. They feed on grass and herbs and prefer areas with moderate shrub cover or open woodland. They are crepuscular, resting hidden for the majority of the day.
Cougar Size: Large (6.5-8 ft long, 25-30 inches to shoulder) Found In: Kamari, Oriens, Shyia Habits: Solitary Description: Large powerful cat with tawny grey fur and a pale underside, mostly active at dawn and dusk. They prey on animals including deer, elk, moose and sheep and will sometimes steal from and/or kill lone wolves. They typically have two to three young and are very protective of their offspring.
Prairie Dog Size: Small (10-15 inches long) Found In: Kamari Habits: Large family group Description: A type of ground squirrel found in open grassland. They are active in daylight and are herbivorous, mainly feeding on grasses, roots and seeds. They live in underground burrow systems, disappearing into these when a predator is spotted.
Stoat Size: Small (6-12 inches long) Found In: Kamari, Acerbus, Oriens, Shyia, Tiayr, Caurus, I’queyer Habits: Solitary Description: A slender and agile mustelid with reddish-brown fur and a white underside. They commonly prey on birds and small mammals such as rats, mice, rabbits and voles and are found in a wide variety of habitats including forests, woodlands, mountains and grasslands.
Diamondback Rattlesnake Size: Medium (3-6 ft long) Found In: Kamari, Oriens, Occasus, Xisyn, I'queyer Habits: Solitary Description: A highly venemous snake with a grey, brown or olive coloured diamond pattern along its back and a segmented rattle at the end of its tail. This rattle is used to warn predators of the snake’s presence. They are found in grassland and desert, but also on rocky mountain slopes. They feed on small mammals, birds and lizards but can kill larger animals such as wolves if provoked.
Coral snake Size: Medium (2-5 ft long) Found In: Kamari, Acerbus, Xisyn, I'queyer Habits: Solitary Description: A highly venemous snake with bright red, black and yellow bands. The neurotoxin in their venom paralyses the respiratory system and death can occur within hours, but they have small fangs and are not typically aggressive unless provoked. They can be found in woodland and sandy areas, but spend a lot of their time underground. They feed mostly on small mammals, birds, lizards and other snakes. Their eggs can be found in summer, usually 5-10 per clutch, buried under rocks or rotting vegetation.
Milksnake Size: Medium (1-6 ft long) Found In: Kamari, Acerbus, Occasus, Xisyn, I'queyer Habits: Solitary Description: A non-venemous snake harmless to wolves with bright red, black and yellow bands, very similar in colouring to the coral snake. They can be found in woodland, grassland, and sandy areas. They feed mostly on small mammals, birds, lizards and other snakes.Their eggs can be found in summer, usually around 10 per clutch, buried under rocks or rotting vegetation.
Weka Size: Small (15-25 inches long) Found In: Kamari Habits: Solitary Description: A flightless bird of the rail family found in forests and grassland. They are brown with black speckles. They mostly feed on invertebrates and grass but sometimes eat mice and small birds. They lay around 4 eggs at a time in a nest hidden on the ground amongst dense vegetation. Most are bold and curious. Their sharp beaks can be used as weapons and they have powerful legs.
Moa Size: Large (6-7 ft to shoulder) Found In: Tas'alea Habits: Small group Description: A huge flightless bird surviving only on Tas'alea. Their main predator is the Haast’s eagle and they can only be taken down by several wolves working together. They live in forest and grassland and are herbivorous, although when provoked they can be very dangerous.
Haast’s Eagle Size: Large (4-5 ft long, 2-3 ft tall) Found In: Tas'alea Habits: Solitary Description: A huge eagle surviving only on Tas'alea. They have very powerful talons and a large sharp beak and can fly at speeds of up to 80km/h. They prey mostly on moa but may take down other large animals such as deer and even lone wolves.

I think it would be a good idea to add a sub board to each territory and have it list both Herbal information and the information you guys are working on on each area of that territory, it would be quick access to information on the places your RPing in.
