[atrb=background,http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/4038/poemid.png] Twilight. My favourite time of the day. Trudging through thick underbrush and a maze of towering trees, Phoenyx sighs. Her stomach growls, and she decides to take a break from walking. These woods were - of course - unfamiliar to her, so she was unsure of what type of game it held. The ivory she-wolf raised her muzzle into the breeze. Immediately, her gifted nose picked up the scent of a deer. Too bad it isn’t a moose. Phoenyx wasn’t picky, but moose were her favourite. Her belly sinking into the carpet of leaves, the she-wolf scanned the forest floor for hooves. Sure enough, four, slender ones were obliviously gamboling towards her. Tensing her muscles, Phoenyx prepared to pounce on the isolated deer. All of a sudden, the breeze shifted direction. The femme’s ears became erect as she listened for any sign of the scent she picked up. Phoenyx’s snout elevated towards the marigold sky as she sniffed the frigid air. It had taken months of wandering aimlessly for the young she-wolf to stumble upon another wolf’s scent. Actually, it was more than one wolf. Without thinking - she was uneducated about proper wolf etiquette - Phoenyx bounded in the direction of the scents. All of a sudden, she heard a faint howl that was beginning to crescendo; she realized her mistake and stopped abruptly in her tracks. Turning around, the Arctic Wolf ran a few paces and hid under some brush like she did as a child; however, it wasn’t as effective this time since she was larger. Why Phoenyx was hiding was a mystery to her. To her dismay, the trees that surrounded her provided a minimal amount of shelter. What am I doing? I’m better than this. [Toiro]

Toiro made his way carefully through the Xayar forest, on the trail of a few deer. They would be migrating soon, before the first snows of winter arrived. Prey was seldom scarce in Shyia, but in winter most of the deer in the territory had gone and they had to look to other prey animals for food. Cherie had been doing a superb job hunting for the pack, but she was the only hunter in the pack and it was a large responsibility to fall upon one wolf. Everyone with skills in that area needed to help out now that winter was coming, and that was what Toiro was doing today.

Something – perhaps a bush – rustled someplace not far from where he was. The grey wolf froze, and inhaled the scent of the creature. To his surprise, it was not the deer he’d been stalking, but a wolf. A lone wolf, who hadn’t howled at the border before entering. She was lucky that she hadn’t wandered onto Descai territory, or her life would most certainly be at risk. There were plenty of rumours around about what the neighbouring pack had done to wolves who stepped onto their land without permission, and anyone who lived around these parts would have heard them. So why was this wolf here? Of course, Airila was nowhere near as harsh as Descai, but if he were in her place he would not take that chance. So perhaps she was a new arrival to these lands? Curious, the alpha approached, making no attempt to hide his presence.

A white wolf came into view – arctic by the looks of her thick fur coat. “Stranger? What is your purpose here in the lands of the Airila pack?” When the large grey wolf spoke, his voice was strong but kind. He didn’t want to frighten her, because he wasn’t that type of wolf, but she would know by the way he held himself that he was one with power in this territory. It briefly crossed his mind that she could be a Descai spy, but then he supposed she would have run by now, instead of standing there waiting for him.

Every day the femme hunted around for anything that could possibly be useful. This day had been rather eventful in the Arctic creature's mind though. Earlier a small hare had bounded across her path, and in her feeble attempt she had nearly caught him. Hunting had never been this one's strongest point, but she had been able to survive on her own for quite some time. It was a struggle, but she had been able to do it. Now her frame was filling out, no longer was she on the skinny side. 'All thanks to Cherie,' the femme smiled at the thought of her friend. So many divine beings seemed to be walking upon these lands. Aludra felt as if she had truly been blessed. This had caused her to slave away in an attempt to be able to aid every pack mate she could. They were all family now. It had been so long since she had been with the blood members that they seemed to not have existed. Her life within Airila had distracted her from most of her past, now she was focusing more on the present and future. This satisfied the female, although she did long to be more useful to those around her. She had quite the drive to serve the others, ensure their safety as much as she possibly could. After all, without them where would she be? Her leisurely walk had been disrupted by an unfamiliar scent. Auds pulled themselves back for a moment, then rapidly erected. The detection of rustling was noted nearly immediately. 'Someone is here,' her pace faltered for a moment. Aludra had been growing better with social interactions, but the thought of a stranger sneaking around their lands was terrifying to her. She was far from the strongest wolf in these lands and stumbling upon a loner with malicious intentions could easily be the death of her. The thought of howling for Toiro or Huxleyi crossed her mind on more than once occasion, but she did not want to feel as if she was burdening them. After all, they had enough to deal with for now. Paws cautiously carried her slowly towards the disruption to her herb hunting, head cocked to the side all the while. A fluffy white tail was seen sticking out from behind some shrubbery, showing itself to be quite the poor hideout for the other ivory femme. Toiro's words abruptly caught her auds, and she sidestepped from behind where the loner was hiding. Instantly she lowered her head and pinned her tail close to her hindquarters. "Greetings, Sir Toiro," a gentle grin was placed upon her face before her green eyes turned back to the loner upon the ground. Silence otherwise enveloped the female, Toiro had a job to do. Her presence would merely be to observe as she had stumbled upon the same wolf as him. Paws slowly carried her towards the Alpha, butterflies filling her stomach all the while. The Shaman opted to stand beside him, yet not too close as to make the brute feel crowded since there was a loner to deal with. The warmth of his presence was comforting, it reassured Aludra that all was still well upon these lands. That and Toiro's presence was always particularly welcome to the Shaman. A slight wag overcame the tip of the femme's tail as she glanced inquiringly between the Alpha and the silent stranger. Thus far the other white femme had remained quite silent. Aludra felt a sting of nervousness swelling in her chest, so many other white female's had been coming to this land recently. Insecurity washed over her, perhaps they were better than she was. Most certainly they could hunt and prove useful for some sort of pack defense, where as she was not skilled on these topics. 'I am just one of many, we are all different. There shall be no issues,' Aludra prayed this proved to be the case. OoC| I feel like this sucked, I'm sorry.
