History: Her life started roughly – she was born in the middle of winter to a struggling pack made up of an alpha pair, a warrior, and a shaman. She and her brother had come about through an unwanted and out of season pregnancy, and although the alphas were happy to learn they had heirs, food was scarce and with two new pups to feed, all of the pack’s efforts would have to go into hunting. This was a problem for the small pack, as there was a larger pack nearby that was looking to expand and they could not cope with extra hunting as well as frequent border patrols.
Then one day, a band of gypsies arrived in the area. Although they came ‘peacefully’ they were in fact looking for pups to add to their collection and the alpha’s children had soon caught the eye of the band leader. He could see that the small pack was struggling, so he offered them a deal. Hand over the pups and in return the gypsies would help fight off the larger neighbouring pack. Even though it was a very difficult decision for the alpha pair, they knew that they needed help if they were to keep their lands and so they agreed to hand their newborn pups over in return for the protection. But the next day, the gypsies had vanished, taking their prize with them.
Mikaylu was the name of the nurse ordered to look after the pups, and despite having slightly twisted morals she was a kind and patient mother. The two pups knew they had been taken from their true parents but this didn’t bother either of them at all. Their new mother never named them though, as it had been decided that the unnamed pups would earn that right by proving their worth to the band. Almost immediately they began their training, given to an old wolf named Iyada for mentoring.
The young female was a terrible warrior – at least by their standards – so she was introduced to hunting instead. This she took to very quickly and by the time she was six months of age she was helping the adults with hunts. During this time she was often referred to as ‘Pup’ or ‘Hey You’, and a few slightly more nasty names, but that didn’t worry her at all because she had learned that names held no power over her. Her brother, however, hated not having a real name and that made him more determined to prove himself to the band. He worked extremely hard, even training by himself when most of the others were asleep. He was very eager to please, and looked up to Iyada and the others almost as if they were gods. He loved the life of the gypsies, and was slowly trained by his mentor to become a merciless assassin who didn’t care about the lives he ruined as long as he got what he and the band wanted. The gypsies had turned him into one of them.
Her brother was soon granted a name, Alezadi, after killing his first wolf in a night-time raid on its pack. It had been a beta so he was very proud of himself, and often eagerly told his sister the story and tried to encourage her to work hard in her duties with the promise that she too would soon have a name and a rank.
She had always been an independent wolf though, and didn’t like having to follow the orders of her superiors, so one night she just slipped away. Even though he adored her, she had never felt particularly close to Alezadi, so didn’t give him any hint that she was going to leave. Besides, betrayal was all too common in the band, and a true secret could only be kept by the wolf who owned it. Because of the skills the band had taught her, she knew how to avoid detection and how not to leave tracks behind. The wolves ordered to find her and kill her never did.
After she left the band she discovered that the life of a loner was a hard one, but she was a good huntress and knew how to take down her prey without spending too much effort. She was lucky that sickness only touched her once or twice, and she never experienced any serious injuries. A lot could be learned from having to survive by oneself in the wild; she was a good example of this. Anyway, loners could usually be convinced to help her out if she needed something, especially if they were male.
She was very glad that she had left the gypsies, but unfortunately some of their ways had rubbed off on her. She quickly discovered her talent for lying and wasn’t afraid of using it to her advantage. She felt no guilt for doing so, and in fact it gave her a little bit of a thrill to see how much she could entangle wolves in her web. After what seemed like a ridiculously long time warnings of her began running through the packs in the area but because of her indistinguishable features (which could be disguised anyway) and her changing name, they somehow never suspected that the poor shy she wolf at their borders was really the trickster that had caused so much trouble. Still, the territories she passed through became more cautious of being scammed, and she usually found it more beneficial to move on.
During her lifetime she has been to several countries and has talked to wolves from many different cultures. Recently she met an older wolf who told her about an island called Anikira across the sea, a safe haven for wolves. Not like she cared about that. No, it was for the challenge of being in a new land that one day she set off into the great unpredictable ocean. But she was fit and healthy and made it to the shore without even coming close to losing consciousness. Now she has found herself in paradise, with new wolves to lie to, and an entire continent to explore and make her own.
Personality: Although she is now nearing her seventh year, she does not appear to be, and is even able to pass for a femme of three or four. She often comes across as a relaxed motherly figure, and is a pleasant wolf to be around. After years of travelling, she is wise and knows a lot about the world and how things work, and is willing to share this knowledge with others. She is also a superb huntress, enough so that she is able to comfortably live independently, and she can hold her own in a fight. She actually knows quite a bit about herbs too, but would never bother to become a shaman because she just doesn’t care about helping other wolves. Instead, she uses her knowledge to help herself, by curing whatever sickness she may have or, if she needs a disguise, by using mud or berries as dyes for her fur. Her voice is beautiful and she can sometimes be found singing when she is alone. There is a strong creative streak inside her, and she loves inventing stories. She is original and doesn’t like to follow routes that others have taken, which is partly why she isn’t interested in packs.
This wolf has a high intelligence, nearing genius level, and she knows it. She is vain and selfish, and somewhat narcissistic, although these are not traits that are commonly revealed to others. In her opinion, her life is more important than anyone else’s and she will do anything she can to keep herself satisfied. This doesn’t mean that she will be unkind to others; she just won’t help them if she doesn’t get anything out of it. She has no problems accepting bribes, and will hire herself out as a mercenary or spy for the right price.
Lies come very easily to her and she is a master of making up intricate stories. She is manipulative and likes to be in control, though not always by using aggression. She believes that the more aggressive a wolf is, the weaker he is inside and that the true rulers are ones who can manipulate others without them realising it. She is perfectly sane, in that she knows exactly what she’s doing, but she has a somewhat unique way of seeing the world. Despite her attitude towards others, she is not the kind of wolf who enjoys inflicting pain, unless of course it benefits her in some way. With all that selfishness you’d expect her to have a soft spot for pups or something, but no, this femme certainly does not. Pups are just as responsible for their actions as adult wolves, and the death of one would hardly affect her. She believes them to be nuisances, and she has been fortunate enough not to get pregnant.
A traveller by nature, she needs to have change in her life. She mostly likes wandering because it allows her to meet new wolves who can provide her with entertainment and new minds to try her stories on. Those she has met before are generally avoided unless they have been particularly interesting, and so the thought of settling down and living a nice quiet life in a pack is almost unthinkable to her. She fears attachment because it would tie her down and she hates to be confined – a little claustrophobic in that respect. Duties and responsibilities are avoided like the plague by this female and she is loyal to no one. She is a very private and independent individual, her lies perhaps woven to hide her inner self from the world. Truth is her enemy and she would rather not be judged for her true character. Therefore the freedom of not having a name is a blessing to her, as she can say and do whatever she likes and never really be held accountable for her actions. It is very hard to track a wolf with no name, and it helps that her features are plain and unremarkable.
