Maitryi was intently focused on how her paws slowly sank into the desert sand with every step she took. As she glanced behind her to the deserted sand she had already encountered, she noticed small imprints where her paws had been. She wasn't sure if she should be worried about this, that maybe someone would decide to follow her tracks, but decided against the thought. She couldn't spot any wolf along the horizon, so she doubted she was being stalked by anyone. The Arabian Wolf was in a fairly good mood today, there was no reason to be in a bad one.
At first, Maitryi had thought she may have been entering a wolf pack's territory, but she could see no signs of life anywhere. She wondered why this was so. Was there some type of danger lurking in this desert area that she was unaware of? She shook her head to rid herself of the thoughts that were about to appear, but the thoughts came anyway despite her failed attempt to prevent it. "Is my father here?" Maitryi immediately felt extremely vulnerable again, out here in the open. She began sauntering across the warm sand at a quicker pace, becoming more alert of her surroundings. While doing so, she noticed an absolute horrid smell that lingered in the air.
Her nose crinkled in reaction to the scent that had flooded her nostrils until she could smell nothing else. She was unsure of exactly what the scent was coming from, but she did not think it was a pleasant odor at all, and it almost seemed familiar. She shut her eyes tight, trying to remember when she had ever smelled this before. She then recognized the scent. It was ash. She started noticing small black specks mixed in with the billions of grains of sand. She stopped walking and squinted her eyes to allow her to see through the sudden fog that had surrounded her, causing her to feel a strong pang of confusion and helplessness. She could barely see two feet in front of her anymore.
"Where am I? Is this some sort of trap?" Questions she had no answers for began entering her brain. She thew her head back and howled a cry for help, loud enough to hear a mile away. Her fear flooded the call, as well as her desperation, but Maitryi had no way of knowing this. All she had heard of her howl was a low murmur. Her hearing was progressively becoming worse now, and she felt even more hopeless than before, if that was possible. Maitryi was normally a very calm wolf, but she began to panic. She scurried across the ash and sand, not realizing what direction she was heading in, not caring. She broke out into a full sprint, coughing frequently as smoke and ash was sucked into her lungs.
At last, she could run no longer. The thick air made it difficult for her to breathe, so she collapsed in the sand instead, her body completely sprawled out in a heap of wolf. She desperately hoped that a wolf would find her here. She hoped the wolf would kill her, so she could escape the suffering her lungs were currently going through. Her chest was heaving, and her tongue lolled out of her mouth, just barely touching the sand. She no longer had the strength to keep her own tongue inside of her mouth.
"Rescue me," she thought as she drifted into unconsciousness. The smoky fog still lingered in the air, but it was visibly receding.
OOC: Sorry this is so bad. I was trying to get it done quickly. Also, sorry for the lack of a signature graphic and table. I will be working on those tomorrow. -.-
