How many times had things slowed down before? How many times had the pack's numbers dwindled until the whole thing was nearly nonexistent? She feared it had happened time and time again, something she was far from proud to see happening and was fearful of happening more often, but there was no doubt in her mind that she had pride and love for her pack. She never left, and the one time she had done so had been to keep her own family away from slaughtering the ones that she so desperately loved. But she always came back to them.
Spirit pushed the sand around between her toes as she took careful, quiet steps along the beach, enjoying something of a day off for herself. She knew she'd be right back at patrolling and training and hunting, among other things, within a few hours. The female was dedicated to the survival of this pack and intended to keep it alive, no matter what she had to do to make sure that it would continue to survive. She needed a break every now and then, though, and she was taking one now. Granted, even she had to admit now she was still patrolling, just lazily.
The tundra female shook out her black coat, padding towards the mouth of the caverns she could see, and it took mere minutes to get there. She shuffled along the inside of the caverns for a moment, sniffing and just glancing around for anything interesting in particular, finding nothing. She had to admit she was slightly bored, and she didn't feel fulfilled when she was simply being a lazy ball of fur, even if it was well earned. She had been accepted into this pack some time ago, had grown close with all of its members, those who had remained and those who had left, Kastiel particularly. She didn't think of him often now, though wished he hadn't vanished like many of the others.
Spirit still had some, though. There was Toiro, and Aludra; no doubt in the femme's mind that she absolutely adored their puppies. She wanted to see them as often as she could, do what she could to provide for them as much as the next wolf. Perhaps that was part of her drive in being the way she was lately. So much more driven to protect and serve her pack, just to make sure not a harmful paw or tooth would come to a single hair on any of them. She came to stand just outside the cave, then laid down carefully to gaze out at the water, ears erect and golden eyes taking in the view. Part of her felt serene, calm, but part of her felt lonely, wishing for company, and something more to be able to do.
