Koder watched the creek as the water trickled past him. It was small, but the water was cold and refreshing and quenched his parch throat. Koder continued to lap up the water until his belly was full. There were a few live fish that swam across the creek, but it was sallow, so they were hardly big enough for a meal. Koder’s ears perched back as he inhaled slowly. He was beginning to tire of just wandering around aimlessly with no reason to be anywhere. He just went where his feet took him. He only stopped to sleep, eat, and drink. It was a simple life, but it was all that he did. He wasn’t always alone though. He once had company. It was just recently when he was with Rain. He pinned his ears back and shook his head. He couldn’t think about that anymore. It had been days since he left her back at the beach, at least he apologized, and at least she knew that he couldn’t be around her anymore. It made it easier to live on.
He stepped out of the creek and onto the shore as he sat laid down by the bank in a cool shady area. It was a small but quiet place, he liked it. The sun was still rather high in the sky, but he figured he could stay here for the rest of the day. He would have to find something to eat though. That was one of the few downsides of being a lone wolf, couldn’t go for large game unless they were already hurt pretty badly, even though it could be somewhat difficult and dangerous. He had been sticking with easier meals like rodents and rabbits. It wasn’t the most glamorous of meals, but it kept him full for a little while. That was the only thing he missed about being with others. He couldn’t imagine being part of a pack though, that wasn’t the life for him. It was too…He stopped himself before could think anymore.
His ears perked up when he heard a sound, a strong aroma of another wolf engulfed his nostrils. He stood up, his body alert as he stood his ground, waiting for them to present themselves to him.
“Whose there?” He asked in a stern voice. He was a friendly guy, but he had to be on edge, you never knew what was someone was up too.
