Other Information: Banks has an accent that most wolves can't put their finger on, though her speech is incredibly correct (a comparison might be how Brits hear Americans). She is aware that her name is not traditional and sounds foreign in Anikira, and gets a kick out of it when others point it out to her.
Mental
Mental Stability: Sane, with times of anxiety that might warrant instability.
History: Banks was born into luxury. Daughter of an alpha pair, she was daddy’s little princess at the same time that she was mommy’s little spitfire. Rast and Lor admired their eldest daughter for taking the best of their traits—a single pup for the first year of her life, she was fantastic blend of intelligence, charm, and stubbornness.
Their pack didn’t have a name; it didn’t need one. The tiny island in which they lived, on the island chain that included Anikira, took hardly an hour to run across. Backstabbers and traitors to the pack were simply dealt with. It wasn’t intentionally cruel; there was simply no room for an “out” group in such a small space.
It was run like a royal family. Rast ruled as his father before him, and lacking a son, Banks would rule when it was time with a mate by her side, preferably one of the elites within the hierarchy. But Rast was a compassionate creature when it came to his daughter, and Banks knew that whomever she loved would be welcomed.
And so she trained as an apprentice, the heiress to the position of alpha. She learned the ins and outs of ruling the small pack—how to divide the food rations, how to give orders, how to stand her ground. It wasn’t until she was older that they noticed the anxiety and the self-doubt, but it was usually something Banks could keep a handle on herself. Her parents chose to ignore it. She had so many great qualities, after all.
When her sisters were born, the now-fiercely independent and matured Banks doted on them, awestruck by how cute they were and disgusted at the same time. She didn’t want pups, not yet, maybe not ever, and she knew she’d be expected to find a mate soon. She hunted constantly, always wanting to keep away from home, but loving the time she spent with her family when she returned, all the while growing closer yet somehow more distant to her parents.
The problem with Banks was that she thrived under pressure, yet at the same time, it sent her into fits of crippling anxiety. It wasn’t her parents’ fault at all for her wanting to leave—in fact, they were perhaps the only thing that made her question whether or not she was doing the right thing. But something was growing inside her, and she felt that she wasn’t destined to be the heiress of the small, secluded, resource-rich pack. When she stood on the top of the cliffs at the south, she saw the mountaintops of the island to the south and knew that her home looked like some unordinary piece of land, not worth discovering. It bothered her.
She wasn’t naïve; maybe she’d travel there and hate it. She knew that her parents would take her back if she did.
And so she swam.
Nothing happened, per se. Banks has no troubled past, no deep-seeded issues, no family qualms. She had a fantastic upbringing, loving parents, and a wealthy lifestyle free of hardship; perhaps her story is truly one of coming-of-age and discovering oneself.
Personality:
intelligence; Perhaps the first thing worth mentioning about Banks is her intelligence. She is incredibly quick witted and easily masters mental tasks. Her speech is eloquent, though she will sometimes use vocabulary that isn’t typical of normal conversation.
sense of humor; Banks has a definite sense of humor. Though she can appreciate and laugh at others, her own sense of humor tends to be a mix between morbid and extremely dry. She certainly gets a kick out of herself, but it can sometimes be off-putting to those who don’t appreciate it. She often uses humor or jokes to express actual stresses or angers she may have with someone in order to avoid outright confrontation.
mental state; Anxiety is perhaps Banks’ greatest fatal flaw. When put under stress, she will either rise to the occasion and complete the task as an independent leader, or will completely be immobilized by fear of failure (which, to clarify: if it’s not completely perfect, it’s a failure). She is a little obsessive and completely anal retentive.
temper; While she doesn’t have a mean streak, Banks will get testy when things don’t go her way, especially in romantic relationships. She has a bad habit of self-sabotaging relationships because of her inability to be flexible. This only applies in romantic relationships, though; when it comes to friends, it’s hard for her to be confrontational, though she may be stewing under the surface.
façade; Banks thoroughly enjoys coming off to others as a bit aloof or icy at first, as she has learned that this is the best way to keep people laughing (which, in turn, is the easiest way for her to make friends). However, it will inevitably melt away into the incredibly compassionate creature she is. Banks would do anything within reason for those she loves... unless they screw up first. Then the whole sabotage thing comes into play.
sexuality; The best way to look at Banks is as a serial monogamous pair-bonder; she's one to have multiple partners in a single season as she is new to the "being in heat" experience. She is incredibly loving for the right males, but will often tire of them. She also will probably be the type to continue desiring sex from her ex's, craving the emotional side of sexuality without the commitment of mating. Not to mention her natural charming side around both genders mixed with her occasional other tendencies...
