It was cold. Bitterly, bitterly cold. Ayiti lay curled up at the far end of the cavern, her head on her paws and her tail tucked over her nose, in a fine sulk.
It was too cold to do anything. Anything at all. She huffed into her nose. Again, the turn of the seasons had come and gone, and again, she was not at all pleased at how things went. This would be her first full winter, and it was shaping up to be a hard one. The small family had stayed near the Zakur pack's territory when they could- during this time of year, it became hard to cross the Kinaths- so they were as good as stuck until spring, when more agreeable weather for travelling returned. Ayiti passed her time catching as many rabbits as she could, sleeping to conserve her warmth, and dreaming of the sights to be seen over the high peaks of the mountains. She had never met another wolf but her mother, father, and brother. Were they big or small for their kind? Her mother sometimes used to tell tales of things she had seen, the other wolves of the Zakur pack, her own birthplace far away. The story of when she and her father had met. Ayiti remembered it with a small pang, which was quickly pushed aside. But the stories had done well to stir her imagination, and she was itching to get over those mountains and make some tales for herself. She imagined crossing the Kinaths for the first time. Kadar would come with her, of course; they'd meet wolves along the way, and she'd describe them for him like she usually did. Maybe they'd catch fish in a pool like the one in the woods.
She watched the snowflakes fall ouside with irritation. That is, if the snow ever lets up.
OOC: for Kadar and Ayti's birthday! No rush, of course. ^^
