History: [to be edited at one year]Sanris, left to fend for himself in a world too cruel for one as young as he, still too innocent. Childhood turned to ashes in his mouth, and Sanris became who he was—selfish, manipulative. His intent was to survive, and so he joined a promising pack called Osani, which, too, crumbled to his paws. The monster Goliath took hold of the lands in the pack’s stead, promising something more deadly and powerful than ever. Again, Sanris allied with the strong, always intent on keeping himself on the winning side of the war of life, still battling a punitive world.
Athena, the second case of stolen innocence in the lineage, a product of rape, deserted by a she-wolf worthless as a mother. The silver creature was taken in by a healer from a nomadic pack, though her sanctuary was short lived. Raped and brutalized, she poisoned her capturer to wander the lands as a healer, perhaps the happiest of her days. A bear promised the end of the battle, leaving her with a permanent limp. Valyn was a sanctuary, though a bitter one. Settling down was not her choice. Her right to wander had been stolen.
Then came the storm, the longest night of winter. They never knew one another’s stories. The heat of lust burned away the values Athena had been trying to hold onto and the warmth was enough to harbor four pups.
And so Lethe was born.Personality: There is a river that flows through the underworld, carelessly wandering, obsessively flowing. All spirits who partook of the water forgot all that they knew of their earthly lives—the river Lethe meant oblivion and concealment. The bitch was aptly named.
Lethe was born to Athena, and though her blood ran in the same shade of red as Sanris, she would never come to know him as a father. She would never come to know Athena as a mother either; the harsh seed of betrayal would brew inside the she-wolf and manifest as resentment. She would try to hide her past as she learned of it, though it would drive her to retreat from her pack. A Valyn member at birth, the superiority complex of her environment seeped into her bones at an early age, though she might have been destined to leave. She would come to be well-liked and well-respected, with a natural aura of confidence and a sharp tongue, matched only by a sharper and colder stare. For Lethe, words didn’t need to be used as weapons when fiery eyes could. The femme could be feisty and even cold if the time was right, looking to her adopted aunt Jaienyx as the ultimate role model, and learning, but never mastering, the art of calculating and finding utility in others. An innate compassion was something that she would never be able to shake.
Willow, her sister, will be her truest friend and most-loved sibling. Never knowing Onyx and never connecting with Tempest will leave Lethe in a state of family limbo, never really knowing whether or not she is pining after her mother’s attention or rejecting it entirely. She and Willow might have been twins if it weren’t for her sister’s dwarfism. Lethe does not tolerate mistreatment of her stunted sibling, and openly stands up for her around others. As an extension of her bond, as her sister slips into seclusion, so Lethe will follow, dancing with the moon goddess and perfecting the art of hypnotism.
Lethe sees signs in the world around her, and with increasing seclusion, will become more and more religiously devoted as well as bonded to her sibling, an unspoken promise to protect her “little” sister at all costs. Only time will tell how far she is willing to go to do just that.
