It had been a few days since the last time he had seen Lisa. He had hoped to keep her close in order to make sure she was healing well. River however had not taken to the idea, at least not as much as he had hoped. Instead of making a friend out of the newcomer, River had met her with jealousy and him with doubt. Kade had not been pleased with her display of aggression. Kade was after all the male and the one that should make the decisions. Kade wold never have brought someone to River if he hadn't trusted them. He trusted Lisa, she was his and he wasn't going to doubt her. Kade had saved her after all and he wasn't about to waste all of his hard work just because of River's pettiness. He could understand that she was jealous of the other female, but Kade hadn't claimed her as his mate so she had no reason to be jealous. He had made no plans to take a female so he wouldn't tolerate River's behavior. Lisa had departed from his company after that encounter leaving to go god knows where. River had tried her best to occupy his thoughts and his time, but he had felt a nagging that grew stronger with each passing day. He couldn't just save Lisa and then never see her again. That wasn't the kind of life he had wanted to start here.
He continued along drawing closer to the end of the trial that Lisa had left. Tracking her scent across the plains. He needed to see that she was safe and on the road to recovery especially before he set off east. He still had it in his head that he would still be able to convince Lisa to join him eastward. He still wanted to keep her with him, despite the strife it would cause with River. Lisa was his and he wanted to keep her. He did however respect that if she didn't want to come along she didn't have to. Kade didn't know about the things that had led up to her injury, only that her brothers had caused it. He knew that she had her own life and that she had to make her own choices, but a small part of him still wanted to take care of her. Make sure that nothing bad ever happened to her again.
