Stuck. She could not move. Well, at least not easily. The tiny red ethiopian wolf had strayed too far again, much too far from her security and shelter for a reason still unknown to her. Perhaps she had been bored? Maybe she had just wanted to stretch her legs. Right now, however, the proper reason escaped her. Right now, her leg had managed to wedge itself between a rock and a hard place, quite literally. She whined softly, shifting in the hot afternoon sun as she attempted to pull the already debilitated leg from the rocky prison within which it had fallen. Eventually, with some rather difficult pulls and twists, the female managed to free herself, but only just in time to avoid a rock falling on top of her from a spot that she had loosened up the rocks slightly higher up on the slope. Why did you come here? What stupid idea brought you to this place? Her mind lectured her softly, almost taunting her for her obvious stupidity.
Lex would not approve of her being here. In fact, he would probably just pick her up and drag her back to where he knew she was safe and he could keep an eye on her. She sighed softly, shaking her head and focusing back on her injured leg. It did not appear that any bones were broken - much to her delight - but there was some slow bleeding that would prove to make her journey back north a bit difficult. She growled softly in irritation both at her injury and her own lack of thinking ahead, but her tongue soon silenced the sound as it slid from her mouth to swipe slowly across the open skin. Finally satisfied that her leg was clean, she lifted her head once more, tongue lolling out of her mouth in a panting motion as the sun continued to beat down on her small form.
This type of environment was the one she had grown up in, therefore the heat really did not irritate her. Sure, it was inconvenient, but she could easily adjust. Now, which way had she come from? She blinked slowly, turning her head in one direction and then the other, hoping to find some sort of recognizable landmark to help her find her way back home. But, of course, she found none. A soft whine of both frustration and growing fear bubbled up in her throat, ears pinning backwards and tail tucking ever-so-slightly between her legs. Why had she wandered off? Why had she been so incredibly stupid?
