Ebony paws touched the ground soundlessly as the mottled black femme stalked through the woods. Her coat blended into the darkness as if she was made of shadow. Dead trees flanked her on either side, their blackened limbs reaching leaflessly to the clouded sky. Large stones and formations littered the forest, their forms emerging from the darkness in great masses. Nothing moved. The silence was absolute. It seemed as though nothing thrived her, nothing truly lived in these woods. But Far knew that wasn't true. The scent border was strong along the shore, and she had stepped right over it to enter Kairos territory. Someone did live here, and she wanted to know who.
Red orbs flashed across the shrouded landscape. There was a feeling of uneasiness, a feeling of unrest, but Far relished in it. Like her, this land felt out of place. Like it didn't belong on this island. And for that, she felt at home. A puff of warm air escape her nostrils, trailing behind her like a small mist before dissipating into the darkness. Autumn was upon this new continent, and with the night came a bitter chill that kept her alert and on edge despite the fatigue beginning to set in. It had taken her only one full day to get her bearings and cross the stretch of water between Vor'asa and this barren land. She had wasted no time in her travels, leaving the same evening of her encounter with the general. Sabaoth was his name. Far smiled darkly at the memory of the hellish brute. If she was lucky, she would find who she was looking for tonight.
"I will not fail," she hissed between clenched teeth. She could feel the anticipation in each step she took of this final stretch in her journey. It seems as though she had been waiting years for this night. Memories of the wolves who had fallen for the sake of her mission flashed like photographs in her mind before fading away once more. Those wolves were nothing, she thought. Mere training for the real tasks ahead.
Soon.
Soon she will be in the presence of a true Emperor.
