Changes have become too severe in Anikira, and the wolves have been temporarily relocated to the Anikiran Southern Isles. Things have grown dire and unlivable on the mainland; it was time for outside intervention. Please be sure to review the full update on the staff board for more information!
The current season is fall in the Southern Isles. Due to their proximity to the equator, the region is still warm. There is currently no breeding and no birthing amongst the wolves
It was dawn and Eve could feel the gentle pulling and tugging of the breeze on her fur. She had never been an early riser but today she felt the urge to get up and moving. She pulled her lids back, revealing bright green orbs that still appeared to be a bit groggy. A large yawn escaped her chasms as she shook her head before rolling over onto her back. She wiggled on the ground, scratching her back for a good five minutes before she finally rolled over to bring herself to her feet. She stood tall, much taller than an average wolf. In fact Eve was often larger then most males and females thanks to her immaculate bloodlines. She had heard that her father had been a large beast and that she looked exactly like him except for having her mother's eyes. But Eve loathed the fact that she looked like him. He had been nothing but a sperm donor to her mother and had never even seen her or her brothers- hell she was almost certain that he didn't know that she existed. Eve shook her head, she wouldn't be thinking about her past any longer. Her mother was long gone as well as her brothers. All ties that she once had to the land of Kairos, and her natal pack, were gone. She rolled her shoulders then, working the kinks out of them as she walked. She had a very easy going sway as she moved, her pace leisurely. It felt good to finally be in a place that could feel like home. Far from any sexist ideals and logic. It felt good to finally be free. Here Eve could be whatever she wanted to be, though she willingly chose the role of Crusader. She could be a gruesome fae, often times worse than any male. She had an unusual willingness to rip into the flesh of others and she took pride in being able to protect her pack properly.
But today would be a day of exploration. Eve of course had made her den far enough away from the others to provide some privacy but close enough that she could react in the blink of an eye if need be. Today however she would be going far from the dens in order to perfectly get an idea of what her new home entailed. Her paws led her until the grass faded away to scarred soil. The ground was charred and barren here and still smelled of ashes. Eve had heard rumors of a volcano erupting her once before and leaving in its wake a large crater in the earth. Her talons dug into the ground, her orbs raking across the land. Death was everywhere but Eve couldn't be entranced more. She could envision herself training here, perfecting her already sculpted muscles. She bounded forward until she stood, staring down into the crater. There were scattered bones everyone, bones of the deceased that more then likely were too deprived to survive any longer. She smirked, in the end they would all look like that. They would all be bones and then dust. It was fascinating how the world worked and Eve couldn't help but wonder how their deaths had been. Had they felt pain? Or had it been peaceful to finally be put out of your misery? Normally Eve didn't like to consider these things but soon enough she would be fighting to protect her new family members- and she would either kill or be killed. Soon she would have the stain of someone else's blood on her teeth and she couldn't help but wonder if she was truly ready. She liked to think that she was and she certainly was no coward- but she wouldn't know for a fact until she was in the heat of the moment. It was true she took delight into fighting others, and inflicting pain upon others, but she had never killed. She just hoped that when the time came she would be able to do it without any hesitation. She continued to sit, reveling in her thoughts as the sun rose higher and higher into the sky. Meanwhile birds chirped around her, soothing her soul for the meantime.

It was a brisk morning for the summer, and Journey woke with a bit of a start; the chill wind had ripped through her fur, and she shivered slightly before lifting her stocky body from the ground. A yawn and a stretch preceded the opening of her eyes, for she sensed no danger and had made her sleeping place between two bushes that shielded even her bright pelt from view. The sun barely peaked the edge of the earth, keeping the land dark for the time being, and the female began her morning with a quick jog to the small stream she had discovered several days ago.
It was quiet here, more so because of her presence; the birds were not quite awake, and the rodents were hiding from early-rising predators. As she lowered her head to drink, Journey began to plan her day. She had only one more piece of the territory to fully explore--the massive crater filled with the remains of lives past. She had skirted it yesterday, but it had been dusk and she was unwilling to stay out for longer than she needed to; her brilliant pelt did nothing to hide her in the darkness, and she knew there would be time to explore. She had only been part of Ananke for two weeks, after all, and she had done well getting accustomed to the rest of the lands. There was precious little danger so far, and a hole in the earth would likely not be the most sinister place either.
Her thirst satisfied, the female turned herself in the direction of the crater and proceeded to lope easily toward her destination, alert as always. It was shortly before she would have reached it that a new scent entered her nostrils, and she slowed her pace to a crawl, then a stop, when the crater and the owner of the smell came into view. She was massive, the stranger, and staring down into the scar of the ground with her back to Journey. The white wolf did not think she was a trespasser--after all, the crater was near the middle of the territory, not the edge, and Ananke was large enough that a newcomer would not have gotten so far without being intercepted.
So, running on the assumption that this dark-pelted wolf was her packmate, Journey decided to announce her presence. She let out a soft but strong 'woof' before starting forward again, placing her feet deliberately to make noise so that the other female did not assume she was sneaking up on her. "Hello there," she called out in a deep-toned voice that still sounded feminine. "Pardon my intrusion. It appears we both woke up with the same idea. I'm Journey."

Eve was completely content to stare down into the crater before her. Although the images could have been quite alarming they were oddly calming for the large female. Staring at the carcasses made her realize all that she had to be thankful for. Even though she had been abandoned by her only full blooded family members she had plenty of family in this new pack. She knew that she would protect them with every ounce of her body when it came down to it and she found that happiness was coming much easier for her nowadays. She was in a relatively good mood this morning and it seemed like nothing could change that for her. The sun felt amazing on her ebony pelt despite the cool breeze and she pulled her haunches to the ground to sit as she closed her eyes for a moment- just reveling in the fact that she was alive. It was while she sat with her eyes closed that she first detected the presence of another. Just the slightest shift of the breeze had brought the stranger's scent to her full force and yet she still did not move from the position she was in. She had nothing to fear because this stranger, whomever they were, had the scent of her sisters on their pelt. Hello there. Pardon my intrusion. It appears we both woke up with the same idea. I'm Journey. The vocals were deeper toned but still equally feminine. Eve opened her eyes then and shifted her weight so that she could face the stranger. This wolf was polar opposite to herself with her pure white pelt and for a moment Eve couldn't help but stifle the slightest hint of anger that arose whilst looking at the female. She looked so much like her damn mother and the reminder of her absent mother was like a slap in the face.
Eve hadn't been angry before, but the more she thought about it and the more it soaked in the more it stung over time. She shook her head before glancing away for a second. She was foolish for being angry towards this female- it was just like ripping a bandaide off of an open sore. BUT Eve was better then this and she knew how to be cordial- besides this female had done nothing to her except for being friendly. She stood then and turned on her haunches to stride over to the snowy white female. Eve couldn't help but notice their size difference the closer she got to the female- just another wonderful trait she had inherited from her dead beat father aside from looking exactly like the asshole. Pleasure to meet you Journey. I'm Eve. Her vocals were short but she smiled a genuine smile at the female, her anger now forgotten. This would not go over well with Nimue and Morrigan if she was being a bitch face to all of their new recruits. Besides Eve saw potential in this female before her. So what position do you claim in Ananke? She asked of her, not being afraid to jump right into conversation with the female. It was then that she realized she was still hovering about the femme and Eve did not want to make her feel uncomfortable so she instantly plopped her hindquarters back down onto the ground as she sat before her. Eve had a tendency of looking like a gangly bear cub when sitting sprawled out like she was now and although she still wasn't quite done maturing yet it didn't normally show unless she was completely comfortable with others. A lot of wolves mistake her and her fellow sisters for being far older then their actual ages due to their gargantuan sizes which never bothered Eve any- she would rather be considered older than younger. She sat patiently though, curious to see what position Journey had been granted within the pack.

Journey continued to step forward after she spoke, eyeing the large female upon the ground wearily but only with enough caution that she seemed prepared, not afraid. When the black wolf began to rise and Journey could see just how massive she was--similar to Morrigan and Nimue--the newcomer stopped and allowed the other to approach her instead, craning her neck slightly to maintain eye contact. Caution coursed through her, but it was clear that both of the females ran with Ananke, and the smaller fae forced herself to remain still while the other towered over her.
Kind words, kinder than she had expected, left the mouth of the larger female, revealing a name. Eve then jumped right into conversation and asked what position she held, then sat down, making Journey feel infinitely better as the effort to stay polite was eased slightly by the maneuver. She still had to look up, but not quite so dramatically, which was appreciated. "The pleasure is all mine," she responded initially, flashing a very small smile of her own, which she was not particularly fond of doing. It seemed rude, however, to receive a genuine smile and not return it.
"I was granted the honor of becoming a Crusader when I joined a few weeks ago," Journey continued, deciding to settle her own rump on the dirt beneath her, though she knew an excess of grooming might be necessary in the future. Perhaps she could leave the dirt and pretend it was just part of her brown markings. "Morrigan and Nimue were more than happy to accept my word as truth when I told them of my extensive fighting history, and elected to place me in the role without so much as an audition. Which, frankly, I am grateful for. It would have been awfully difficult to impress two wolves several times my size."
She laughed, then, a short but sweet chuckle, and shook her head, staring at the ground for a moment. "What about you, Eve?" she asked, actually curious to know what job the gargantuan female held. There was such a comfortable air around the two, it was as though Ananke had taken the both of them and made them friends without either of them knowing. Such was the beauty of a pack cobbled together in a time of peace; hopefully it would remain that way.

Eve sat comfortably, the sun warming her black fur as she watched Journey with her light green orbs. Mentally Eve was sizing the female up. She seemed to have a relatively nice size to her- not too large but not too small. She also appeared to have a good bit of musculature but not enough to make her look masculine. Instantly the grotesque image of Lilith entered her mind and Eve couldn't help but smirk to herself. That was one female who wanted to look masculine, Eve on the other hand could appreciate the fact that she looked feminine. She was also overly large, as were Nimue and Morrigan- but all of them had been blessed by being tall and thin versus overly husky. Nimue had a bit of weight on her but she was the tallest out of all of them. Which also made her slightly more awkward then the rest of them. Eve felt like she still had yet to grow into her limbs but yet when it came to fighting she was nimble and skilled on her feet. It was like a complete turn around from her appearance outside of the war zone. Right now she could care less what she looked like to Journey- most of the time Eve was impartial to her appearance towards others. All she cared about was her duty towards the pack, and she would never slack on that. It was a promise she had made to Nimue and she felt absolutely obligated to keep her and Morrigan alive and well. But it wasn't just an obligation, they were her sisters. She would be damned if anyone tried to lay harm to them. I was granted the honor of becoming a Crusader when I joined a few weeks ago. Morrigan and Nimue were more than happy to accept my word as truth when I told them of my extensive fighting history, and elected to place me in the role without so much as an audition. Which, frankly, I am grateful for. It would have been awfully difficult to impress two wolves several times my size. Eve couldn't help but flash her a wide smile at her words, and responded simply to her. We all bleed the same.. No matter the size.
What about you, Eve? She was instantly pulled out of her thoughts then realizing that Journey was addressing her. I too am a crusader. Looks like we'll be war partners. She let a smirk cross her kissers before she stood off the ground, and this time she strode forward. She circled around the white female, her eyes never leaving her frame until finally she stood before her once again. I've got to say you don't seem the least bit disappointing. It was a compliment, one that Eve hardly would have given to another wolf. But it was true, she saw promise in Journey and would not deny that. Her auds flicked forward as she reached her muzzle out to poke her side gently. Her fur was soft to the touch but she could feel taut muscles beneath, And your in shape. Another plus. She pulled her muzzle back just as quickly as she had touched her. An invisible brow arched as she locked her eyes onto Journey's face once again, So tell me Journey, do you have any weaknesses? It was a blunt question, then again Eve had always been an extremely blunt and confident creature. It was not meant to be a rude statement, she was just trying to get to know her fellow pack mate better.

Sitting in peaceful conversation was nice, for once; Journey had last interacted with Veles, and he had been particularly irritating to her. Eve, on the other hand, was blunt and honest, and Jo had always preferred the company of females to males anyway. The giant's grin before she spoke of blood was a bit off-putting, but the much smaller female did not judge her for bloodlust; Sunny was the same when it came to stealing, and she would not be rude because she did not necessarily enjoy the same things as this one. Sure, she liked to fight and defend the innocent, but it was the defending and not the hurting that she preferred.
"Partners should learn to fight together," she responded, readying another few words when Eve rose. Against her will, Journey remained still, following Eve with her ears as she walked in a circle around her back, unsure of what to think. Reflexively she allowed the hair along her neck to bristle, but her face remained tightly neutral, eyes flicking to the side when the huge wolf came back into sight. She had done nothing, but circling another was exceptionally rude and, frankly, something that Journey would not normally allow. It had been foolish of her to sit still, but perhaps Eve would see it as bravery. Either way, no harm had come of it--if the larger female had pounced, the smaller would have defended herself as necessary.
At the revelation that Journey was not disappointing to Eve, the white female narrowed her eyes slightly, not so much offended by her words as slightly annoyed by them. It was not up to this wolf whether or not she could defend her pack, and for her to not know any history and simply decide it necessary to proclaim that she was 'not disappointing' was odd. What a strange wolf she was. "I am not sure what you mean by that, Eve, but I assure you I am well equipped to handle the tasks I have been trusted with," she replied coldly, her bright green eyes still narrowed in the judgement she had held back only seconds before.
When Eve's muzzle came toward her, closed though it was, Journey whipped her head around and snapped at the huge wolf, anger fueling her speed. There was no growl, and no baring of teeth before or after; she had simply intended to very succinctly display her desire not to be touched. "You would do wise to keep your nose to yourself," Journey said frankly, choosing to adopt Eve's straight forward way of getting her point across. "I do not enjoy being prodded."
The darker female went on to ask about weaknesses, Journey began to feel more and more uncomfortable. If she needed to, she could escape; speed was on her side due to her much smaller frame, and it would be a simple matter of losing the gargantuan female in the terrain. But this was her pack mate, and there was no reason for them to hurt each other; right? That was the opposite of what a pack was for--packs were meant to defend each wolf against outside forces, not each other. "I would be a fool to spill my weaknesses to you or anyone else. Fight alongside me and perhaps you will find that I have many, or none." Journey, too, was confident in her speech, but the mistrust she felt made her voice far less friendly than it had been at the start of their encounter.
Words || 602 Tags || Eve Notes || Haha Jo doesn't know what to think of Eve yet. Oh well! If you want her to have scraped an ear or something that's cool, otherwise I figured no damage done.
Eve had a tendency of pushing others buttons sometimes- she knew this and had been told it numerous times by her mother and brothers growing up. Nimue and Morrigan had always tolerated her because she always did it out of love and in this case she just wanted to see what made the ivory female tick. Eve had always been curious as to how others would react to different scenarios, and so far Journey had been relatively interesting. She had been cool and collected up until Eve had begun invading her space. The wheels continued to turn in her head and that was when she decided to see just how far she could take things. Partners should learn to fight together. I am not sure what you mean by that, Eve, but I assure you I am well equipped to handle the tasks I have been trusted with. An invisible brow arched at Journey's words and Eve responded with monotone voacls, Oh I do not doubt that one bit. I'm simply assuring you that I approve of your positioning within the pack. And then just as smoothly as they were talking to one another Eve had reached out to gently prod the other female and although she was quick to retract her muzzle she was not quick enough to escape Journey's teeth. They grazed lightly along her muzzle, giving her a light puncture in her lip. Just as quickly as they had made contact they were separated, Eve's large frame giving her ample space as she darted away. Her tail flicked once before she sat, her tongue lolling from her muzzle as she licked away the small trickle of blood that leaked from the minor wound.
You would do wise to keep your nose to yourself. I do not enjoy being prodded. Eve smiled despite the blood and responded, Point taken. Her tail wrapped around her paws then and she licked the side of her muzzle once more, tasting the warm coppery taste of her own blood. She was slightly distracted by the stinging sensation but otherwise was uncaring of the wound. You must understand I am only doing such things to see and learn your boundaries. And it was true, Eve wanted to know Journey's standards, and what she was and was not comfortable with. It was clear she preferred no contact and Eve was just fine with that, she would be sure to leave enough space between them when on the battle field. However Journey wasn't as willing to display any weaknesses which Eve could live with. She would find out eventually if her adversary had any weak points. For now however she sat facing the female, her auds flicked forward as she spoke once more. You need not worry about me.. I'm your pack mate and although I push buttons I won't pass boundaries you insist upon. She stood once more then, this time striding past the female. Now I'm gonna go grab a drink and wash up, you can join me if you like. She offered before continuing onward, her strides slow and lazy as she walked.
notes: went ahead and had a hit land on her, it would do Eve some good to have her curiosity shoved right back at her lol tagged:Journey word count: 559 status: complete
Journey resisted the urge to bare her teeth at the larger female, fighting to keep her anger under control. She had been accepted graciously into Ananke by the alphas; what did this female think she was doing, questioning that? Assuming that she needed the approval of anyone besides the sisters to belong here was absurd, and frankly, insulting. Jo had never truly had a fiery temper, but Eve was testing her with the way she spoke and the white wolf was reaching her wits end.
The blood that dripped from Eve's lip was not wholly unexpected, as Journey had been aiming to at least cause the wolf to jump back, if not to flinch in surprise. There was only the faintest taste of blood on the tip of her canine, and it faded as quickly as she realized it while her green eyes, still narrowed in anger, remained trained on her pack mate. This was not a good way to meet and get to know a fellow warrior, but Journey had done everything in her power to make it a positive experience. Eve was the one who had taken it too far without warning, and who was not respecting her space nor her as a wolf.
"You are young," she said quietly, her voice heated but the anger fairly low in it. It was the voice she always assumed she would use for a child who needed to learn a lesson--which, as far as she was concerned, Eve was. "And there is much you will learn. But hear me now. Invading the space of a wolf you do not know and claiming it is to approve of something you are not the judge of is a poor way of getting to know them." Though her tone remained even and harsh, Journey felt herself relax as her feelings left her in the form of words.
She was by no means ready to be on good terms with this wolf; Eve was brash and stupid, and it was a wonder she had made it this far. But, with time, everyone would learn--and if they did not learn, they would die. Eve began to walk away then, rudely brushing past the smaller female, and Jo bristled as she side-stepped, then turned to keep the dark wolf in her sights. An offer was made, but the older wolf had no desire to continue interacting with this foolish pup. So she watched her go in silence, then scoffed and turned to go her own way.

This untraditional coupling is one of the truly loving matches in Anikira. Although they are members of two different species, Calantha and Rikez have overcome the differences and rose above, finding love in the most pure of ways. And from this pairing, a litter born of two loving parents was conceived. These little boys and girls will have the great honor of being raised by two parents that support each other, while many of the offspring in Anikira have not had such a benefit. The pair are truly fitting of one another; both kind-hearted and generally good individuals.
