He did not know if his wanderlust belonged to nature or nurture, but it was still there, still a very vast presence within his mind, that eternal drive to keep searching. Mostly, Solitaire feels the press of upcoming Winter and with that came the knowledge that all the plants and herbs he often sought would wither away and die in the coming days. He had no place to store them, not really, but either way, he had been trying to find makeshift places anyway. He could bury things wrapped in leaves and dig it all back up later (not too much later, for even the vegetation would decompose eventually if not gotten at by insects and vermin). Solitaire kept a look out for any of the herbs or plants that were of use to him as he moved along. He had wasted no time covering an expanse of ground, but that was a part of figuring out where he had ended up and survival. A part of wandering.
The need to wander doesn't mean he wouldn't be good in a pack, because he did not believe that to be a hindrance. In Glorall he had done just fine, and as a healer it was needed to go out and collect the plants needed for his occupation. He never missed out on a pack hunt or meeting, was always quick to patrol and greet newcomers when they arrived; maybe it was just his need to stay in motion much of the time. Solitaire hadn't picked apart all the reasonings for how he went about life; it was how it had always been, just with added responsiblities when it came to a pack and any sort of rank. Solitaire had been proud to be called their Witch (only the high healer's title, nothing dark about what Solitaire did for the job), though Viora had looked down upon him for not being a warrior. That didn't matter, though. Solitaire had known where he'd stood and that had been okay.
Everything was different here. He knew no one, not really. There was no family to visit, too little known about the packs to feel comfortable going near one just yet. So he wandered; mostly near the water and sand. They were two things about his previous home, some little reminders that kept him from feeling too down. He'd still eat a gardenia or snapdragon if he could find either of those, just to cut down his anxiety, but so far no such luck. Not that they would be so close to sand, but on his journey to this area he had looked and found nothing. Eventually his paws had wandered to the shallow strip of water and the island, but someone else was on the island already, and that was enough to almost have Solitaire walking back from where he'd come. Almost. It was bad form to avoid everyone, and he'd never get anywhere if he did. "Excuse me, but have you seen any interesting plants lately?" He called out lightly, waiting.
