It had been many months since Kade had allowed him self to really be aware of his surroundings. With Lisa gone and River missing he hadn't really felt the need to travel north to find a pack. Instead he had spent much of his time wandering about getting to know the continent that he now called home. Spending much of his time alone helped him heal much of what had been plaguing him form his past. He now have very few nightmares about his master and the traumatic circumstances that he had escaped. He wondered about what would have happened to him if he hadn't been in the accident that dropped him into the sea, the swim bringing him here. Whatever plans the humans had had for him they were probably less than good, considering he had attacked his master. The foolish humans had trained a killing machine, but the hand that fed him was never kind. Biting it was the best decision he had ever made. If he hadn't he would still be at the compound being used and abused as some kind of sperm donor. The men who had taken him wanted to breed an army of wolves, enough to train as attack dogs to sell. They hoped to make a huge profit off of his children and he never could have allowed that. This aimless wandering had allowed his fractured mind to heal, but for some reason his conscious was not nagging at him. He had avoided other wolves for the most part, trying to keep a low profile. Now however he seemed to be having a harder time making good time across the desert. He kept thinking about where he was and if there were any others near by. Rivers disappearance had left him feeling lonely and hurt, perhaps that she had left or gotten hurt. He was supposed to be taking care of her and she had gone missing showing just how good of a friend he was.
Kade gritted his teeth moving further and further away from the northern lands they had planned to call home. The south had been the first place he had stopped when he had first arrived here in this land and it had been kind to him. The north was nothing but a frosty wasteland by now covered in snow and ice. Kade hated the cold so when the prospect of joining a pack failed to pan out he had high tailed it the other direction. Now he was closer to what he thought of as home. Being a loner on this continent hadn't been as scary as he had imagined, but he still struggled to get by on most occasions. He was a piss poor hunter and his fighting was not much better. Most days he was simply a scavenger moving from place to place, finding whatever scraps other left behind. The food he found was better than the kibble he had been fed in captivity that was for sure. He lowered his nose to the ground searching for some trace of what had pulled him from his daze, for it certainly hadn't been food. Food never really called to him like this. Perhaps it was the breeding season that seemed to be pulling all of the females into their heat. Interactions with other loners were always more frequent during this time of year because everyone was on the search for a partner to breed with. Kade always hated the pull that the breeding season brought, pushing him closer to his animal side than he preferred.
Despite his enjoyment for ignoring the rational side of his brain it was still there and he refused to get some random femme pregnant because he couldn't control himself. No matter how far he had come or how much he had healed it didn't change the fact that he had very little control over himself. The animal in him ruled more often than he cared to admit. When he was hungry he ate, when he was tired her slept. Instinct ruled over him more than his own mind did and that was why he avoided others. He was polite and tried to be a good person when the situation called for it, but the fight between rationality and instinct was always present within him. Finally he found the scent that had pulled him from his wanderings, another wolf. It didn't surprise him that it was female since the majority of other loners he had met were femmes. Kade couldn't tell anything else about her from her scent so it was anyone's guess as to if she was a loner or pack wolf. He hoped it wasn't the latter because he hadn't met many pack wolves, but they tended to be more territorial an protective than he liked to deal with. Giving a solitary howl he called out the strange female. She would answer him if it pleased her and not if it didn't He had nothing to lose in this instance.
