Morning had come early, or at least it had come far too soon for the young white and gold male. He groaned softly, pushing himself to his feet and stretching much too lazily back and then forward. The tigress that he typically curled up beside remained sleeping soundly in the dense thicket they had chosen as a bed the night before. Uninterested in waking her, the large male pushed himself through the foliage and out into the open trees. The darkness was still blanketed heavily over the Kamari, but he could see the first hints of morning peeking at the horizon through the gathered trunks of the trees that surrounded him. He should have woken earlier, prepared and planned, but perhaps he would get lucky hunting today.
He knew it would have been smart to wake up before the prey, but he had no doubt that the cold morning would keep them hidden away longer than expected today. He knew just what his target would be, too. He had been debating the idea of hunting the pronghorn herds for some time now, but the best strategy to take down a decent sized meal - or a few, for that matter - would be to involve more than just himself. Perhaps this would be just what the pack needed. He had spent quite a bit of time speaking with Valeria one on one, and he knew she had done the same with a few of the other former Descai members. But they still were not quite a family. It would take much more than a few talks to get everyone comfortable trusting each other.
He sighed softly, arching his back for a moment and yawning softly before pushing off in the direction of the Boryz Prairie. His nose then tilted towards the sky, eyes remaining mostly open as he called out to his new family and requested assistance in hunting. There was no point in worrying if the prey were alerted, for it would take them at least an hour to gather and form any sort of plan before they were prepared enough to take on the herd. If they were lucky, perhaps they could take down a few pronghorn and feed the pack for a while. But the only way they would know would be to try it together. Alone he could probably take down a young and weak creature, for the adults would be much faster than his large form, but with a pack they could work together to split a few from the herd and take them down together.
Finally he could see the trees thinning out even more so that the prairie was partially in view. This was close enough. He knew the herd would be in the prairie, but he did not want to encourage the pack to gather too close and spook them before they had a chance to build a strategy and put it into practice. For now he jumped up on a large fallen tree, sitting down and letting his tail hang back over the edge to wait. He was not sure where his pack members had wandered off to after the initial entrance of the Valyn females, but he was sure that none of them had gone off too far. With a surprising patience, he let his blue eyes wander the tiny clearing he had stopped in, tail tip twitching slightly back and forth and ears listening for any hint of anyone approaching.
