Chaika was a native of Anikira, born into a small wandering pack made up of about a dozen wolves. His pack was struggling to survive the harsh conditions of the island, but when Chaika was born, they believed he was sent to them for a reason. They thought he was somehow special, and devoted their work mainly to keep him well fed and taken care of. They also spent most of their time teaching him all different trades, such as healing, hunting, and combat. Chaika was a quick learner, and he especially showed magnificent ability in the art of hunting.
As he grew more mature, Chaika felt more and more pressure put on him by the expectations of his pack. The leaders (there was no obvious alpha, just a few wolves who took charge in most situations) continuously spoke about Chaika and his destiny to save his pack and lead them to good health and prosperity. He didn't really understand what they meant - how was one wolf supposed to rescue an entire group of hungry canines? Nonetheless, he accepted his role in society and worked his butt off to perform well for them.
One night, lightning struck a dead tree in the area where Chaika's pack was sleeping. This created a monstrous fire that spread rapidly and maliciously through the foliage, swallowing everything in its path. This was it, Chaika thought, this was the day he needed to save his pack. He rushed around, saving puppies and elderly wolves alike from fallen branches and debris. He sent them running in all different directions, and uncontrollable panic spread upon the group. When the fire went out, Chaika was alone. His entire pack had vanished - some killed, and some escaped into the mountains and were never seen again. Among these were his mother and mate, Kyra.
With nowhere to go, Chaika decided to join Amar, a pack lead by a wolf named Kiddo in The Oriens. Here, he met Annabelle, a pretty Arctic wolfess and the love of his life. However, when Kiddo disappeared and the pack disbanded, Chaika was once again stranded. He met with Annabelle on several occasions and became closer to her still, so when a former Amar member named Nashira decided to recreate a pack in the same area named Zakur, they both joined without question. Deeply in love, the two mated and Annabelle soon gave birth to a litter of beautiful and healthy puppies.
However, Chaika's blissful happiness would not last long. Less than six months after his pups were born, Chaika was captured by pirate wolves along the coast while on a solo hunting expedition. There were two wolves, one male and one female, who took him captive and traveled around the continent, dragging him along with them. They used Chaika as their source of food (well, he hunted for them anyway) and beat and tortured him if he gave them any trouble or tried to get away. The brute lived miserably this way for almost two years, when one of the pirates was killed in battle and he was able to hold off the other with any strength he had left and make his escape. He now travels Anikira alone, searching for his lovely Arctic mate and family.
Chaika's personality is overall pretty bubbly and cheerful. He will talk to just about anyone and enjoy himself doing it, and making friends is pretty much his forte. He doesn't judge anyone, and is very kind, understanding, and patient. He always has a positive attitude and his big lopsided smile on his face. When faced with a challenge or problem, he doesn't back down or give up. Rather, he faces it head on with a determined and hard-working attitude.
He loves to hunt. He loves the adrenaline rush of stalking and killing his prey, but what he loves most is sharing this fresh new meal with others. Providing for an entire pack is what makes him feel worthy, and watching hungry wolves fill their stomach off of meat he caught makes him extremely happy and warm inside. Even though he is mostly used to hunting alone, he does enjoy hunting in a group as well. He loves viewing pack hunting as a well-oiled machine where each hunter or huntress does their part, and it all comes together to get real results.
One thing that Chaika values most is family. He loves messing around with puppies (in the most kindhearted, fatherly way of course) and keeping them safe at all times. He's pretty protective of his family members, so anyone who lays a paw on any of his loved ones will have to deal with Chaika afterwards. Just as well as he can learn new skills, he can teach them too. His patience and positive reinforcement allow for even the most struggling of pupils to get better steadily.
Finally, Chaika works extremely well under pressure. He grew up with virtually the most pressure possible placed on his shoulders, but he never let this weigh him down. Pressure naturally motivates him to work harder, move faster, and overall be a better wolf. Along with this, Chaika is always much more content with himself when he has the structure and stability of a good pack. He follows orders well, and the pressure - and the support - of his pack-mates is what causes him to strive to do better and make everyone else's lives easier.
