[attr="class","pltxt"]For many hours, the only sounds heard were those of birds singing, leaves rustling, and water lapping against the shore. The pool of water sat in the middle of the territory, not exactly, but thereabout, and was quite still. The sun, high in the sky at this point, reflected off of the still pool with such intensity that it almost hurt to look at it. Occasionally, the wind would blow and ruffle the leaves on the tress and cause tiny ripples in the pool of water. Otherwise, all was still. Even a beast, lying beneath the roots of one tree, was still. Presently, she was drifting off into a light sleep, though moments before, she found herself remembering the day when Ren had found her in the very same spot. Oh how she had hated him... But, in only the time it took for them to have a conversation, Sasha had come to actually enjoy his company. She had longed for him to stay. She had even asked if he would join Othala. He politely declined, and Sasha had to say that she understood... Because she did. If her mother had not become the Aesir of the pack, and she was free to explore the world, she would have done the same thing that Ren did. Leave pack lands and continue on the journey to far off places, keeping in mind the many tales of the different lands that Anikira had to offer.

Sasha had remembered that he said he would visit again one day, though, and the young pup hoped that it would be some day soon. She dearly missed her young friend, and though she wished he would have stayed, she now wished that he would return, even if only for a short while. She missed the way he had tried to flirt with her and the way he had almost admired her. But to so easily admire something... Sasha knew that he would indeed become just as enamored by many other things (or wolves) along his journey, and he may not return to her with the same fascination in her that he once held. But that didn't bother her... She really just missed the company of someone her own age. A soft sigh escaped the female as she slowly drifted off, her thoughts and dreams filled with that adorable, sweet pup that had found her so long ago. Resting her head on her paws, she looked quite comfortable, but anyone could tell that she was not in a deep slumber. In fact, she was barely even asleep at all. More just resting her eyes than actually sleeping...

Sasha, the silver female’s only remaining pup. She couldn’t help but think of her with admiration. Out of her two siblings, she had been the one that looked most like her mother but at the same time, had the personality of her father, Titan. She had been strong enough to make the swim away from Kairos and continued to grow stronger with each and every day. Even though Kiva hadn’t been able to spend as much time with her as she had hoped for, she still always seemed to know what she was up to rather that be from watching her from a distance or having other pack members keep an eye out for her. But, she was determined to start spending more time with her.

As the alpha walked over to her favorite spot, the pool the rested in the center of her territory, she kept her pale blue eyes peeled for any of her pack members that may be out and about. To her pleasant surprise, it wasn’t long before she spotted her daughter sleeping under the shade of an old oak tree. A gentle smile crossed her muzzle as she watched her quietly before silently walking over to her, careful not to wake her. Sitting next to her, she sighed contently. As long as she had her daughter by her side, she knew everything would be okay.

Finally deciding to wake her from her slumber, she reached down and nuzzled her gently. “Sasha, my dear,” she spoke softly yet allowed enough for her words to stir her awake. She sat next to her quietly for a minute, waiting for her to wake up. “What would you like to do today, my dear?” she asked her, tilting her head curiously. “I’m all yours for the day,” she nodded, thankful to have a day to relax and be with her daughter.

Despite what the young pup might have thought, she was still fairly young and had a lot to learn before she would ever be able to take over the position as Aesir and run this pack. In all honesty, she didn't think she ever wanted all the responsibility that came with ruling a pack. While she thought she knew everything and could take on the position, she didn't know that she wanted to. She really was a free soul, wandering around the territory constantly. That was part of the problem when it came to when her mother was free and wanted to spend time with her. Sasha was almost always moving, and it made it more difficult for the Aesir to find her daughter in the little time she might have for her. Today was different, though. She found herself, as she had many times very recently, lying in wait of her dear friend Ren. She wished, if he had decided not to come back, that he would send someone to tell her. Unless he had and they had gotten lost... Or maybe he couldn't. If he had gotten trapped in some pack ad held prisoner, he wouldn't be able to let her know why he hadn't come to see her again.

In her light slumber, the young pup failed to realize that the approach of her mother who sat beside her was more than just her imagination playing tricks on her. It wasn't until a soft muzzle touched her neck, gently nuzzling her neck, that she realized her mother was actually beside her. Sasha's eyes fluttered open and her ear flicked towards the wolf beside her, catching the familiar voice of her mother. As she woke more, she caught more of the Aesir's words, and she lifted her head to look at her. "Really? All day?" She asked, perking her ears happily. It had been some time now since the pup had been able to spend an entire day with her mother. She didn't mind too much because it gave her time to explore, but she did wish that she saw her mother more often than she did. Slowly, the pup stretched her limbs and pushed herself up into a sitting position, still not nearly as large as her mother, but getting closer every day. "I don't know what I want to do... It's still too cold to do very much of anything..." She said, frowning slightly and looking around. She wasn't sure what they could do when it was the middle of winter and still fairly cold out.

Sasha was the first of the silver wolf’s daughters who had no idea about Tala, her siblings, or even her uncle. She had no idea the stories and folklore that involved her family. She had no idea of how her mother and uncle were thrown out of their birth pack when they were only a year old and how they were forced to learn how to survive on their own and how they started Tala, deciding to lead together as alphas. She had no idea on any of her family’s past and it hurt her deeply to think about that fact.

Kiva watched with admiration as her daughter slept, her own crescent mark standing out beneath the light of the sun. Kiva really did need to tell her about her family. Kiva nodded with a gentle smile as her daughter asked if she could really spend all day with her. “Yes, all day, my dear and I promise I will be spending a lot more time with you after today as well,” she nodded with determination. She hadn’t spent nearly as much time with her daughter as she should have but rather than feel sorry about it, she was determined to change the fact from there on out.

“Yes, it is still cold but thankfully, it won’t be too much longer until Spring comes and with it new life and blooming flowers,” she told her with a soft smile, thankful winter was almost over but also regretting that she would deliver no pups this season. “In the meantime, how about we go on a walk? Keep ourselves warm and I can tell you a story?” she asked her with a tilt of her head. As painful as it was to talk about it, Sasha deserved to know about her family and sooner or later, Kiva would have to tell her.

[attr="class","pltxt"]It had been a while since Kiva had offered to spend the entire day with her daughter, and Sasha was looking forward to what the day would bring. She wanted to spend more time with her mother. She wanted to learn what all that Kiva had to teach her. So far, she had just been learning from Sazio, and while that was great, it was more on how to be stealthy and defend herself if (or rather when) she would decide to venture out of the lands they called home. She wanted to explore the world, or at least the island, and the mountains that surrounded them made it difficult to just sneak out for a little bit and then come back into the lands like nothing ever happened. No... For this adventure, she would need time... At least a week, if not more. She was already planning, but she was waiting until Sazio had taught her a little more. She was hot headed enough to run away without the proper training, but she was also smart enough to know that that would only end badly and have her running home within a few days. No... She wanted to find Ren. And she wanted to find that terrible father of hers. She wanted to give him a piece of her mind and tell him what an awful brute he was. She had never met him, and that was the only interaction that she wanted to have with him. Otherwise, he was dead to her.

Sasha perked her ears as she listened to her mother speak of spring. New life and warmer weather... It was exactly what she needed. She wanted to see the beautiful flowers and green life that spring would bring... But most of all she wanted the warmer weather. If she left when she planned to, she would leave towards the end of spring. The hottest time of the year, sure, but Sasha quite enjoyed the warmer weather, and it would make crossing rivers and the likes more bearable. At the mention of a walk and story, Sasha tilted her head slightly. She had always enjoyed stories, and she wondered if this story would be one that her mother had told her before or if it was a new one that she wanted to share. “Sure... That sounds nice. I always like hearing stories.” She said gently, standing, stretching and giving a big yawn. She had had a nice long nap and now she was ready to spend the day with her mother... Something that she wished they could do more often.

The last thing the silver alpha wanted to do was talk of her past, especially with Sasha. She wanted to protect her, to keep her from feeling the pain that Kiva constantly felt. She wanted to make sure that she never had the thoughts and the doubts that Kiva always had running through her head. She wanted to prevent the depression that she herself had been in ever since the incident. But, she also knew that Sasha deserved to know. She deserved to know of her family’s past and of her uncle and all of her many siblings. So as Kiva started walking, her only remaining pup beside her, she sighed and, with a heavy heart, started to talk.

“I must warn you, my dear, this is not a happy story. It is not like the stories I have told you in the past and I am unsure how you will react to it,” she whimpered softly, truly hoping Sasha wouldn’t hurt the way Kiva hurt. “But, it is a very important and it is one you both need and deserve to know,” she told her with a small nod. After that she walked silently for a minute but finally, she opened her mouth to talk.

"I was born into a very special bloodline. As the story was told to me, the gods created our line for the sole purpose of working for them. Becoming one with nature, spreading their word, and being examples for all others. When they created us, we were told that at least one wolf born of every other litter would be marked with a crescent mark in the color of one of the five elements. It was my litter’s turn to be blessed with the mark and both myself and my oldest brother were born with it. Mine was blue and around my eye as you can see, his was white and on his forehead. Our parents knew he was special and wanted him to be the next alpha, I however was the omega. I was the runt of the litter after my mother killed my younger two sisters due to us being born in the middle of a terrible and harsh winter and her knowing she could not take care of all six of us, and so, I was the last to eat, last to learn stuff, and the outlet for the pack. But, my brother Cato and I had a strong bond, despite the completely different ways in which we were treated. We would often sneak off and go on our own adventures. We’d always get ourselves in trouble but it wasn’t until the day of our first birthday when everything went downhill. We had snuck off and gotten back really late. Our parents had, had enough and father attacked brother, leaving mother to deal with me. We were able to stand our grand but, we knew we’d have to run, for they would never let us continue living in that pack and so we did, with threats from both of them to never return. We ran for a while before we finally found a clearing in the woods. We decided that we would claim it as our own, start our own pack ruling together as siblings and our pack would be called Tala.” After that she trailed off, again whimpering. She didn’t want to keep going but she knew she needed to. Sasha deserved to know everything, not just parts and bits and so, she forced herself to continue.

“The next year went by and was spent with us learning how to survive and thrive on our own. We would often pass time by sparring with one another and we were rarely more than a few feet apart. But everything changed when I turned two. I stumbled across a male who looked identical to me with the exception of my mark. One thing lead to another and before long, I was pregnant with my first litter. It ended up being two boys and two girls. But sadly, they never got to know their father as he abandoned us when he realized my brother would not give up his position as alpha. My next litter was when I was three, I was taken hostage by a rival pack and raped. I finally escaped but not before I became pregnant and not long after escaping did I give birth to six puppies. Not long after that, did I stumble across a female wolf who had been killed, by what I still do not know. But lying with her were three newborn pups that I simply could not leave behind them. I took them in and treated them as if they were my own. When I was four, I was tricked into having a one night stand and ended up with another three pups…..” that was when the trembling began yet again. For it was time to speak of the part of her past that she dreaded most. Squeezing her eyes shut, she forced herself to continue, her claws digging into the ground beneath her.

“Not long after that litter was born did my world come crashing down. It was a very dry night, no moisture in the air at all. We had all curled up in our regular sleeping spots for the night and had fallen asleep. None of us were expecting it to be any different from any other night but that was exactly where we went wrong. For somehow, a fire was started and swept through those lands with intentions to kill, and kill it did. I woke up to find myself surrounded by flames and could see no more than a few inches in front of me. All around me I could hear my sixteen pups screaming, crying, calls of pain and horror. But I could do nothing to save them. I could not see them, and I could not tell what direction they were coming from. I tried my best to find them but my attempts were to no avail. Finally, Cato found me and forced me to run with him, knowing we would only die ourselves if we kept on. We ran as fast as we could but still could not escape that cursed fire. For as my brother was passing a large tree, the fire caused it to fall. It landed upon his back and instead of killing of him, it crushed his back and paralyzed him. The scream of pain that came from him…oh that is a sound I will never forget. His eyes filled with tears and I knew by the twisted look of pain and begging on his face what I had to do. After telling him that I loved him and that I was so very thankful to have him as my brother, I locked my jaws around his throat and did not move until I knew I had put him out of his misery. I didn’t want to leave him; oh I didn’t want to. But I knew if the gods had wanted me to die in that fire I would have and so I kept going and came here to Anikira. Once here I joined the first pack I could find and, while I did meet some nice wolves, it wasn’t the pack for me. I ended up mating with the beta, your father,” It was there that she stopped talking, knowing Sasha knew the rest. Her eyes were glossy as her mind was lost in the past. Her form trembled and she couldn’t help but whimper softly. She truly hoped Sasha would be alright after learning of her past.

[attr="class","pltxt"]Sasha always loved a good story, but when her mother said that it wouldn't be a pleasant one, she grew worried. She didn't really like unpleasant stories, but she did know that they happened. In fact, most true stories were unpleasant, as cruel as that fact was. Happy endings, Sasha believed, were very rare if they happened at all. She wanted to believe that happy endings were in store for all of them, including herself, but she knew that it just wasn't possible. She, for one, knew that she would not receive a happy ending... Not with how she acted. And yet, while she knew that her actions and words were wrong, hurtful, spoiled, bratty... She couldn't stop. It was who she was, and if other wolves didn't like that about her, then she supposed that they could just hate her. She was okay with being disliked. That was another fact of life. You cannot please everyone, and there is no way that everyone you meet will like you, be nice to you, etc.. Life wasn't like what the stories were like. Life was mostly the exact opposite of stories. Wolves die. Happy endings don't happen. Love... Well love was a whole different aspect of the world, and Sasha didn't know much about it. She knew what it felt like to love her mother and to have her mother love her, and she knew that one day she would have to find a mate which would be a bond produced from love. But she didn't know much else. She had never felt love from a male, nor had she felt love for a male. Not even her father. The brute was worthless. She hated him.

As Sasha listened to the story, she remained relatively unfazed. It was a story of her mother's past, so she expected unpleasant things. She expected that there were parts of the story that were a bit graphic or... Well, unpleasant. It was why her mother had waited until now to tell her the story, she supposed. But Sasha didn't hardly flinch. Eyes remained on the path ahead, steps never faltering as she stayed beside her mother. The only thing that changed about her were her ears. When her mother would give a whimper or whine or seem like she was struggling through a part of the story, the young wolf would shift her ears back. A slight movement, but noticeable enough. She tried to appear sympathetic, but the truth was that Sasha didn't feel anything for the siblings that she had that died in this fire, as her mother described. She had never met them and felt no connection to them at all. As uncaring as it might have sounded, she truly wasn't that depressed over the whole story. In fact, she thought that it was a good story, but only because it was truthful about what happens in life. She was upset, yes, that her mother felt so much pain over the matter, but there was nothing that either of them could do at this point. "I'm sorry I'm all that you have left to carry on your name." Though it sounded like the pup was apologizing that she was such a bad daughter, she truly meant that she was sorry her mother had lost so many children in just one night. "But do not fret over it now. There is nothing that you could have done. The gods wanted that to happen to you for a reason. Everything they do has a reason." She murmured, gently brushing her pelt up against the older female's in an attempt to comfort her. Try though she might, Sasha couldn't make herself look even remotely sad. No... She was curious. Her mother used terms that she didn't know, and she wanted to learn. "What is... Rape? And mate?" She asked, tilting her head curiously.

Kiva’s past was something that would haunt her until the day she died, if not after that as well. She would never get over the pain, the guilt, the sadness that she felt from it. If anything, those things would only grow. With every passing holiday and ceremony, it hurt worse that it was yet another special occasion that her pups would miss and that she couldn’t spend with her brother. As she grew older, it was harder to dream of anything other than her brother calling her back to him and if it wasn’t for her daughter and for her pack, she knew she would eagerly come.

It was for those reasons that she was thankful Sasha didn’t react to her family’s past in a negative way. She seemed sad, maybe, but mostly Kiva could tell she felt bad for her more than anything else. “you, my dear, are my pride and joy. I am more than lucky to have you here beside me and not a day goes by that I don’t thank the gods for you,” she told her with honest sincerity. Sasha was her driving force in life more than anything else. She didn’t know where she would be without her.

Sasha’s next set of questions made the silver feme chuckle softly. She knew to some Sasha may to be too young to know such things but Kiva had never been known for sheltering her pups. She would teach them of the world, both good and bad, from as young as they could understand. She saw no sense in hiding things. “A mate is the one you fall in love with and who you spend your life with. Mating is simply the act of having pups with your mate. Rape is when a wolf forces you to have pups without you saying they can,” she answered her questions without going into too much detail.

[attr="class","pltxt"]Sasha knew that she was mostly all that her mother had left. She was her only child, anyway... But with the creation of Othala, her mother had more to live for now. She had more that she had to be around for. And as much as Sasha disliked the male, her mother had Eidus. The traitor he was, Kiva seemed to think that he was alright and had justified reasons for just leaving the pack lands in the middle of the night one night. There had to be, Sasha believed, some other reason why the brute would just get up and leave. But Sasha forced herself to push those thoughts away for now. She didn't want to think about that sorry excuse of a wolf anymore. She didn't want to look at him, and she definitely didn't want him to plague her thoughts. She sighed as her mother spoke, and she nodded slightly. Speeding up slightly to stand more beside her mother, she moved to nuzzle her nose against the older female's neck. “I love you, mama.” She said softly. She knew that she didn't say it enough, and it was usually after her mother had said it to her first, and so she said it now. She truly did love her mother, despite whatever arguments they might get into.

Sasha was curious about the world. She always had been, and she was sure that she always would be. Luckily enough for her, she believed that her mother didn't really hide anything from her. And so, when she asked about what mating and rape was, her mother answered her. While she was still curious about what exactly made pups, she was debating on pushing the question further. She figured that if her mother wanted her to know that much, then she would tell her. But at the same time, she couldn't help but to be curious about the process. After all, pups didn't just happen. They didn't just one day explode out of a female's body without some prior action, otherwise every female on the planet would be swollen with babies. Therefore, the young pup, using her high intelligence, had come to the conclusion that some action must be taken before there could be a reaction of any kind. But was it something that her mother was comfortable talking about? Or would she just have to find out from experience? Or a stranger? She turned the thoughts over in her mind, and still she wondered if her mother would want to tell her what exactly went on when one... Mated. Frowning softly, the young female only nodded, looking to the ground. “I see. I'm sorry that happened to you.” And she was. While she wasn't upset by the events, she did feel bad that her mother had gone through such events.

Even with her new pack, Sasha was still the alpha’s driving force. Kiva knew that every member of her pack would be perfectly fine without her. They were fine before they met her and they would be fine after she was gone. Rain could remain beta and Freya could take over the position of alpha. Eidus could help run the ceremonies, her hunters could keep hunting, the warriors could keep fighting, everything would be perfectly fine. With Kiva gone, Othala also wouldn’t have to worry about being the target of her old pack. Oh yes, if it wasn’t for her only remaining pup, Kiva would have gone to join her brother long ago.

“I love you too my dear,” Kiva smiled as her daughter nuzzled her. In a hug type of embrace Kiva laid her head over daughter’s neck, staying there for a minute before standing back up. “I know I haven’t been around much and I’m sorry for that. There aren’t any excuses for that but I promise it won’t keep happening. I’m going to be around a lot more, teaching you, taking you out to see the world,” she said with a smile, thinking Sasha would like to go outside pack territory. “You’re getting older and I have a lot of things in store,” she nodded with a sly playful smile.

Kiva shook her head when Sasha apologized, not regretting that part of her past. “I was not fond of the situation when it happened, but, if it hadn’t have happened, that’s six pups I would have never had the honor of being a mother to,” she explained with a gentle smile. All Kiva had every truly wanted out of life was to be a mother to as many pups as she could be and so, no matter how those pups came to be, she was thankful for them.

In an attempt to change the subject to something happier, Kiva smirked and pushed Sasha forward playfully before running ahead a couple of steps. “Come on you, I bet I could win a race,” she called over her shoulder grinning happily. It had been a while since the feme had truly been happy but being with her daughter had that effect on her and she certainly wasn’t complaining.
