It had been several moons now since the multi-colored femme had joined Valyn’s ranks as a Throne, her life now dedicated entirely to healing. It had taken Evani some time to get adjusted, and as of yet, the she-wolf had encountered none of her pack mates with the exception of the Seraphim, Valeria, who had gracefully accepted her into Kamari. Evani had spent a large majority of her time exploring her home under the cover of darkness, preferring to acquaint herself with the territory first and foremost, even before she encountered her fellow Valyn comrades.

Now, however, Evani found herself making her way through Kamari during the day, the sky a pale gray hue high above her. It was early, she knew, perhaps too early for the rest of her pack mates to be awake yet, for she had yet to spot any of them as she darted across the plains, headed towards the comforting hot springs that she knew resided in the distance. Nearer and nearer she grew, the frigid air warming around her, the steamy heat from the springs enveloping her lithe form at last as the cream-hued fae neared the piping craters.

A soft sigh slipped from Evani’s lips as she sank down beside one of the smaller pools of warm water, allowing the toes of her delicate paws to brush against the bubbling surface. It was hot – far too hot to consider consuming – and yet certainly not scalding, the temperature bearable against her skin. Lilac eyes shone with contentment as she settled there upon the half-frozen earth, her mind beginning to wander. While she had yet to use her knowledge to heal anyone in Valyn, she knew that the Seraphim was pregnant, and soon would be welcoming pups into the world. Likewise, there was rumor of another she-wolf within Valyn who was carrying pups, and so it seemed that Evani would not be idle for long. The very thought of using what her father had taught her to help made the fae smile, a serene grin that pulled gently at the corners of her maw.

[attr="class","pltxt"]The brute hadn't meant to get himself into any sort of trouble so early on in his time within Valyn, but it looked like it was bound to happen at some point. And thankfully, this time it was only a small cut on his paw caused by the sharpness of an odd rock beneath his foot. Really, the gash was moderately deep and bleeding heavily, but the Red male couldn't bear to consider it any more serious than a scrape or he would feel pathetic and weakened. The stinging pain that shot through his leg and up into his spine with ever step told him otherwise, and he was wise enough to know to at least clean the wound before continuing with his duties.

He had been patrolling the borders since sunrise, and just like any morning before this one, nothing that needed his attention arose. A slight misstep had caused the cut in his pad, and the irony that his first injury as a Templar wasn't a wound or broken limb from combat teased his mind. Everything was coated in ill humor these days - just like the fact that he had never pictured himself living in a pack. But alas, here he was. He was already formally integrated within Valyn's ranks, but he had yet to socially interact with his other pack mates. He wasn't in any way nervous of their reactions, but the idea of meeting his peers baffled him to such a degree that he simply wouldn't seek it out purposefully.

Grumpily mumbling to himself, the sea blue eyed male proceeded to the springs, the only close-by water source he could think of off the top of his head. Splatters of crimson blood left a sloppy trail behind him, but he didn't pay it any attention. The sooner he could wash his raw skin from the blood that soaked it, the sooner he could return to work and forget about the entire petty situation.

Upon arrival to the springs, the canine was immediately faced with the reality that he was not alone. The scent of a female, another early riser he supposed, greeted him along with the visual of a nearly pure white she-wolf with dazzling lilac eyes standing with paws in the steaming waters. How ironic. An introduction with one of his packmates was not something he wanted right now, but of course these were the cards he was dealt this morning. Smirking humorously to himself, the lean male came to the edge of one of the springs, a fair distance away from the stranger so as not to disrupt her silence. He dipped his bleeding paw into the scorching pool and winced from the horrible feeling. "Dammit," he said under his breath - more loudly than he would have liked - as he clenched his jaw, watching as red spread slowly from his paw and into the water surrounding it. He had no idea if this was even helping, but he needed to get it done quickly so that he could slip away to his duties before the other wolf took any notice to him.

[attr="class","pltxt"]The sound of someone approaching had Evani’s head lifting, ears swiveling atop her skull as lilac eyes scanned the land, eventually settling upon the frame of a multi-hued male approaching the springs. He was undoubtedly a member of Valyn, for he was quite far within the territory, though Evani only considered this briefly before the sight of his limping drew her attention. It was clear that he was injured somehow, though as he spotted her he wandered several pools away, making it difficult for the ivory female to get a good look at the injured paw. For a moment she simply watched him silently, torn between assisting him or giving him the space he seemed to desire.

As his hissed curse reached her ears, Evani steeled herself and rose to her paws, shaking herself briefly before padding over to where he stood. It was her duty to care for those injured in Valyn, after all, and this male clearly needed assistance. A small smile sprang to her muzzle as she approached, her gaze flicking up to meet his briefly as her maw parted and she spoke, her voice gentle and kind. ”Hello. My name is Evani,” she began, pausing long enough to chance a glance down at his paw once more. The water around it was tinged crimson, and she frowned as she looked back up at him. ”I’m sorry to disturb you, but I noticed your limp. Have you…cut it somehow?”

Another pause followed, though this one briefly as she belatedly realized that she simply sounded nosy. ”I’m a Throne,” she hastened to inform him, her skin heating beneath her pelt as her gaze dropped briefly, lilac orbs narrowing at her own embarrassment. ”It’s just…cuts on paws get infected very easily, since you walk on them. Dirt and grime get into the wounds, infections set in, and it’s not pretty. You’re doing well by cleaning it, but if you’d allow it, I could show you a plant to apply to it after cleansing it. It will help to ward off infection.”

She’d gained confidence once more as she spoke, her words bringing back echoed memories of her father. He’d taught her well, and now healing had become the one thing that the she-wolf was self-assured with, never doubting her abilities nor her will to help those whom needed it. And from the looks of it, the male who stood before her did – though she knew that others were not always prone to accepting help.

[attr="class","pltxt"]The pain that shot through his nerves seemed to hold a greater intensity than one would have thought would sprout from such a minor injury. He winced as the warm water lapped at the wound, slowly washing away the blood that soaked his fur. Cassiel was not a weak brute by any means, but this gash hurt like hell. Soon, he felt the growing presence of the other wolf, and looking up, he saw the petite white female approaching in a non-threatening manner. He immediately extracted his throbbing paw from the water and turned his body toward her, keeping his right leg bent and his bloody foot off the dirt. This was one of the first pack members he would meet in Valyn, and she didn't need to see him being such a baby.

His face was turned into a sort of twisted, half-scowl-half-smile that was probably just as painful to look at as it was for him to try to make look more presentable and at ease than how he was really feeling. Well, this is going well, he thought to himself as the lilac eyed female introduced herself. He caught glimpses of her eyeing his paw, and he cursed himself internally for looking like such an idiot. "I'm Cassiel, but you can just call me the moron with the bloody foot," he grumbled, not really caring if she would understand his humor or not. He was already embarrassed with himself, and he felt his cheeks getting hot.

"I wish I had an interesting story to tell, but a rock just sliced the damn thing," he answered, not thinking much of her question as it was pretty obvious something happened due to the blood dripping from his pad. His voice was a little less grumpy now as he started to feel more comfortable. The pain was fading now, but maybe it was only because he removed it from the spring. He still wasn't ready to place it back onto the ground, plus the idea of dirt sticking to the wet surface made him want to cringe. Shifting his weight a little allowed him to stand less awkwardly, but he still felt out of place in front of this small she wolf who was obviously very concerned about his paw which he didn't quite understand.

Evani said she was a Throne, and at first Cas was confused by this, but he soon put everything together. She was one of Valyn's healers, he assumed. Which explained to him why she knew so much about infections and the like. He smirked when he mused, "You sure know your stuff, huh? I probably would have suggested ripping the whole paw off, but it looks like you saved me from that unfortunate conclusion." He stretched his slender neck down so that he could lick off the last of the blood with his pink tongue, and then lifted it once more to narrow his eyes playfully at the Throne. "Well, are you going to show me this magic plant or what?" The idea of keeling over from a stupid infection in a cut inflicted upon him from a mere rock was not one that he considered an honorable death fit for a warrior.

Cassiel. Evani smiled at his offering of his moniker, glad that he hadn’t snubbed her or turned away from her friendly advances. ”I think I much prefer Cassiel, truthfully. I’d feel awfully terrible calling you a moron,” she said with a quiet laugh, lilac orbs sparkling with mirth. She listened as he confirmed that he’d simply cut in on a rock, which at least eliminated the risk that could have been occurred if another creature had attacked him, or if he’d been bitten by something venomous. There were many plants she could find to help him, but clearly walking was not easy for the brute. She would have to find something near.

”I’ve been practicing healing for a very long time – ever since my father taught me,” she informed him with a quirk of her maw, her gaze flickering back to meet his. ”You’ll be glad to hear that I’ve yet to see any ripped off paws due to desperation. And as for the magical plant…” She gestured to the damp land around the springs with a flick of her ivory head. ”We’ll find it over there. A bit further from the water, but not terribly far.”

She hesitated for only a moment before she began to move, walking slowly but not exaggeratedly so, so that Cassiel could keep up with her easily. It did not take her long to spot the thick, leafy plant, and she guided Cassiel towards it, coming to a halt at the gathering of it in the underbrush. ”It’s called Lady Fern,” she told him, reaching forward to pluck several of the long leaves. ”It’s very good for burns, and for cuts and stings. You can find a lot of it here by the springs, so after cleaning your paw, you’ll just need to mush it up and apply it to the cut. Then try to stay off of it long enough for the past to dry.”

She glanced up at him almost shyly then, setting the leaves down at his paws before clearing her throat. ”It’s a bit messy and strange, but it works,” she informed him. ”You can do it, if you want…or I can do it for you, to show you.” She knew that not every wolf was comfortable with being touched and doctored, and so she attempted to give everyone an opportunity to speak up before simply reaching for them.

Already she felt as if she were off to a good start, both as a Throne and as a member of Valyn. Though Cassiel was the first wolf she’d met besides Valeria, her shyness had immediately been diminished upon noticing his injury, for healing was always first and foremost in her mind. And even now as she’d finished speaking, she was able to politely hold his gaze, the smallest of smiles having taken root upon her muzzle. She stood patiently and quietly as her gaze drifted to meet his, awaiting whichever decision he would choose – Evani only wished to help him, either way.
