The woods had always been a place of beauty to the dark wolf who wandered through them, no particular destination in mind. It didn't matter which woods, either; so long as there was grass and trees to cloud the sky, Venom felt at home. He and his brother had grown up in a gorgeously wooded land, and even though their family had been massacred in that forest, the green-eyed brute felt drawn to the trees as a moth to a flame.
With a steady but strange gait, the three-legged brute moved slowly through the tree trunks, his senses sharp; there was not a piece of Anikira that he had not stained with the blood of other wolves, and lately he had been wracking up enemies as though they were days he had lived. It was mostly unintentional--he happened to be caught killing a fellow wolf here and there, or he hadn't been planning on killing, as was the case with Jericho only a week ago.
Busy as he was with his destructive path, Venom truly had calmed down from the days when he was younger; before he lost his leg, before he lost his brother, the lithe-bodied wolf had killed so much that it seemed weirdest to him when he spoke to a wolf he didn't plan to murder. Between Kimset's ridiculous blood-lust and his own desire to cause as much trouble as possible, the two had carved a canyon of death up and down the island, egging each other on until it became a competition. They would keep tabs, make bets, all manner of horrible dealings, and worst of all... they enjoyed it.
While he missed his brother fiercely, it was half the fact that Kimset was his only remaining family, and half the fact that without backup, there was only so much damage he could do. The pair had been able to take down entire packs in their prime, but Venom needed to be much, much more careful on his own, and disabled as he was. Though he was still perfectly capable, and more a fighter than half the wolves he'd met, there was no sense in pushing it when he knew he was outclassed.
These thoughts clouded his brain only for a moment; before long he returned to his senses completely, aware that Acerbus was claimed land and there was every chance he would run into one of the massive, horrible beasts that roamed these woods. With that thought taking over, he let his ears catch sounds they would have normally overlooked, let his eyes scan the horizon and beyond with as much accuracy as a hawk. It was kill or be killed here, and he planned to live for a long time still.
