Time seemed to move on faster than her. It always did, no matter how she felt about it. Sometimes, she felt mad about it and wanted to have the power to stop time, and return to the days where life was not that complicated. She wanted to return to the days in which she was with her family, curled up next to her mother, her father, and her brother. She desired to see them again, but so much time had passed... she always wondered about them, about their well being. Were they even alive? Closing her eyes, the coal-pelted female sighed, trying to get her mind to shut up for at least a moment. The day had been a cloudy one, with colder winds than usual which made her curl up into a tight ball.
Rain blinked in reaction to a cold raindrop that touched her nose. Lifting up her eyes, she saw that a rain cloud was towering above her, but she did not move. The small, scattered raindrops began to fall down until it was pouring, and a distant rumbling made it known that a thunderstorm was approaching. However, Rain did not move. She felt the heavy drops of rain fall on her fur, but she never budged to find shelter. She began to feel soaking wet, her fur heavy with the excess water, but for some reason, the obsidian female did not move.
She did not want to move. It wasn't because she was injured or unable to; it was because she simply did not care if her fur got wet, or if she got sick. All she did was, for a moment, enjoy the soothing feeling of the falling rain overcome her senses. She closed her eyes, feeling in every fiber of her being the beautiful sound of rain and distant thunder. Her mother was scared of the storms, but named her daughter Rain as a reminder that in the midst of the storm, something beautiful came out of it. It was something she lived by, but after what happened, she had doubted it for so long.
But now, there she was, laying down, curled up in a ball next to a tree, feeling the rain fall over her. It was as if she wanted to feel her pain be washed away with the rain as she kept her eyes closed and her form as circular and tight as possible. Her mother always taught her that, to be able to enjoy a rainbow, they had to learn how to put up with the rain. But... in Rain's case, she preferred days like these over sunny days. It was as if the heavens cried with her, or as if the heavens desired to wash away her worries with every little droplet of water that fell from above.
Sighing, she felt herself stumble between awareness and deep slumber, not bothered at all by the cold weather, using her tail to cover her nose and face. For a moment, she was at peace.
For a moment, she felt okay.
