Light foot falls thudded across the snow covered ground, the obsticals of fallen logs and illplaced stones never once causing the four year old femme to break her pace. Denali was running hard, panting heavily to the point that her warm breath was forming white puffs of smoke when it came in contact with the cool air. Her body ached everywhere but she refused to slow. It wouldn't be much longer now. She just... She just needed to escape.
Suddenly she broke from the trees and her paws made contact with gritty sand. A smile crossed her face as she breathed in relief, thanking every diety she knew for granting her escape. She wasn't sure if Mike had been able to keep up with her or not, but that question would be answered in a matter of minutes. Gradually she slowed her pace, easing out of her long distance sprint into a more relaxed gallop. Then she glided down to a trot, slowly catching her beath as she finally settled into a walk. She'd ended up going a great distance up the beach before she could settle into her walk. Relief was instantly washing over her though.
The second she was free of that dreadful forest it was as if all of her fears had began to lift. She could think clearly again and the need to run was no wheres near as urgent. She was safe. She could relax. She could breath. A large weight had suddenly been lifted from her shoulders, and because of it she couldn't stop the overwhelming happiness from seeping into her soul. In truth, she really didn't want to chase away the happiness. Who knew when her fears would take over again? Paranoia was a deadly emotion to play with, and she would enjoy every minute she had of it not controling her life.
Halting in the sand, she took a few minutes to gaze out at the sea. The sea... That's how she'd ended up at Anikira. A sigh escaped her as she tried to block out the memories, turning her head to look at the trail of footprints she'd left in her wake. She'd lost track of Mike and couldn't find a trace of him anywhere. Most wolves had a hard time keeping up with her, especially when she was in full on terror mode. Hopefully hadn't gotten lost. Now that she was beginning to feel better she'd be rather greatful for his company.
