With a peremptory glance behind him, Xinelil trotted towards the forest, the angry growling of his stomach too obnoxious to ignore. He gave a cursory swipe of the area, searching for anything and anyone who happened to be around. Luckily, the forest seemed clear of other critters. That is, critters besides his prey.
His deep green orbs stared into the dark trees, allowing his auds and nose to take over as he ferreted out some small prey. He wasn't in the mood for struggling with his meal; rabbits, foxes, or squirrels would do for now. He lowered his body weight instantly, careful not to make too much noise, as he spied a single rabbit bouncing past a scraggled bush. Slipping around the huge, coarse trunk quietly, Xinelil snuck after it. It wasn't long before he leapt forward, jowls snapping at its neck, killing it instantly. The hot red liquid poured into his maw, and dropping the rabbit at his feet, he tore into his kill. There wasn't much meat on the bones, but it was enough to satisfy him until he could collect some other creatures. Right now, all he was concerned about was himself. His pack seemed to have disappeared from around him, and he would make the best of the situation by feeding himself. Perhaps some fish would top off such a meal, he thought with a slight grin, glancing in the direction of Nyspoli's Pool as the idea passed by. He would collect some red meat now, perhaps to stash in the dens. Then he would try his best at snatching up some fish.
As the time rolled on, Xin continued to creep past the tree trunks and crinkling leaves of the bushes, searching for more victims. He managed to wrangle up three squirrels and a sparrow that had been unfortunate enough to land on a low branch. He did not particularly care for bird, but when he needed to support himself, he did not have any choice to be picky. Staring down at the small pile of fur and feathers, he ripped a squirrel apart, attempting to fill himself as much as possible to keep from dragging the carcasses all across his territory. The smell of the kills, although small, would likely attract other creatures, so it was best not to keep raw meat around for long.
A quiet yawn slipped past the brute's blackened lips as he stared up into the trees. It seemed as if it had been ages since he rested. Glancing around once more in search of any kind of threat, he curled up between the roots of a particularly large oak tree, quickly drifting off into a world of dreams.
