The heat from the island's core warmed the femme's pawpads as she entered the mouth of Isdyn's Deep. The warm stone felt nice, and Alya couldn't help but smile despite the day's events. Young Isolde had done well in discovering a den site. From what her brown eyes could see, the cave was large and would only get warmer the farther inward they'd travel. It was quite perfect for a hot climate creature such as herself.
Padding farther in for a few steps, she simply let all of her senses take in the cave's atmosphere. Its look, its smell, even the quiet echos of living and nonliving items flooded her mind. She then turned back to the caves entrance and headed out again. As her eyes adjusted to the lighter atmosphere that consumed the fresh air, she allowed herself to sit.
A miniscule breeze was not enough to ruffle the sand colored pelt of the Iranian fae, and she curled her tail around her paws as she enjoyed the warmth of the stone beneath her. Silently she sat, auds alert for any sounds of life whether they be familar or strange. She didn't really want to chance traveling too far into the dens when she knew Exodus would most likely return sometime soon. Her plan was to simply sit and wait quietly, a task she would have little difficulty with. 'Just remember, patience is a virtue...'
Ithyph, shaken with fear and anticipation, bolted towards the volcano, following the beta femme's scent trail to wherever she had gone. She needed to alert the femme; it was likely that she would realize it before Ithy got there since the ground had begun shaking, but Alya hadn't seen the smoke, steam, and ash rising from the summit. They needed to get away from the volcano, and they needed to get away quickly. "ALYA" she bellowed, reaching the mouth of the cave and letting her voice echo throughout the cavern. "Alya!" she yelled again, spying the Iranian femme ahead of her inside of the cave.
Panting and sweating slightly from the rising temperature inside the cave, she spoke choppily and heaved out the words, "Volcano... heat... eruption... ash.... get out NOW!" She hoped the beta femme would understand her through her hysterics and exhaustion. She had not seen any lava, but it would be best if they didn't wait until the last minute to get away. After all, the lava could catch up to them if they didn't get away. "We've... gotta... goo..." she panted. The temperature in the cave... It was insane! It had risen close to ten degrees since she'd stumbled in, and drastic temperature changes were not good for tundra wolves, especially when the change was hot.
Ithy glanced around briefly. I thought Isolde was headed here- The thought trailed off as she felt the ground shake once more. "We've gotta get out. No time!" she mannaged to form her first full sentence since her arrival at the cave. Isolde would, hopefully, she tagged into her thoughts, have enough sense to get away from an erupting volcano. The signs of this one were obvious enough.
No time to wait. This was the main thought. Ithy took one last look at Alya before she wheeled around on her paws. She stumbled across the rocks and floor, heading towards the exit. If they could get off of the territory, there would hopefully be no problems. However, the volcano was close to everything in their lands. They'd have to head to the plains; if that wasn't far enought, then more than just their pack would be in trouble. "To the plains!" she yelled back, hoping Alya would hear her as she galloped off across the terra.
Alya could feel the stone's temperature increase drastically beneath her paws. In fact, it seemed the whole cave was beginning to get much warmer. A short pelt and large ears barely caused the temperature change to phase the desert wolf, but she did find it rather odd. Rising from where she was sitting, she trotted a few paces back into the den. Auds were pricked foreward as she listened for any unusual sounds, and her eyes skimmed the dim caven. Faintly her nose picked up the scent of smoke and ash, and her eyes widened.
"No..."'The volcano's dormant. It couldn't be eru-""What the hell!?" The ground shook beneath her, nearly knocking the tiny fae off-balance. She certaintly had not been expecting a tremer. "Damnit! NO!" A growl escaped her as all her senses brought her to one simple conclusion. The volcano was erupting.
She didn't need to see the smoke and ash to know what Nature had in store for Anikira. Granted, this was the first volcano she'd actually encountered. In her five years (almost) of life, she'd learned a bit about some of Nature's worst weapons of mass destruction. Tsunami, earthquake, volcano... In a world of fight or flight every instinct was telling her to flee. And she would have done just that had Ithyph not appeared with shouts that echoed throughout the cave.
"I'm right here!" she snapped, a glare forming on her features as she padded closer to the other femme. From her babbling Alya managed to pick up on the fact that Ithy had noticed the volcano was acting funny as well. She currently wanted to shut her up and get out of this cave as quickly as possible, but every time she went to open her mouth the fluffy femme would spit some more words out. Finally, she growled out, "I know. Let's go!"
Ithyph seemed to get it, because it wasn't long before the Tundra fae was sprinting out of the cavern. Alya growled again and took off as well, not even bothering to hide her limp. At the moment, that old bullet wound was the farthest thing from her mind, even with her uneven pace that caused a bit of discomfort. 'Why the hell is that volcano erupting?' Her brown eyes were narrowed in glare as she ran, tongue lolling out of her maw in order to breath a bit easier. Her tall ears were flattened against her skull in annoyance, and her legs repeatedly pounded against the ground.
Despite her hindersome leg and small size, Alya managed to cover quite a bit of ground quickly. Ithyph was easily in her sights, and as the minutes ticked by the distance between them was rapidly getting smaller. Soon, the Iranian fae's silently snarling figure was matching pace with the Tundra femme as best she could, and her senses were seeking out the quickest way to the plains. In her state of annoyance she couldn't help grumbling, "I hate volcanos!" So much for patiently waiting...
Isolde dashed around the volcano, heat pounding as the steam and smoke grew thicker around her. But for once she wasnt thinking about herself. She was thinking for the good of the pack. Alya and Ityph were in there and there was no way she could call herself an alphess if she stood back and watched. Besides, she had always been one for adventure and excitement. Though this now made all her past escapades seem much less serious - well, most of them.
She took a deep breath as she neared the entrance, realizing this was her last chance to back out. But she just couldnt. She plunged into the den, ducking her head through the tunnel and coughing with all the smoke. She tried to call out to Alya and Ityph but all that came was a weak cough, barely loud enough to be heard at all. But then she thought she saw a blur in the grey smoke, similar in color but seperate. Ityph? She felt a huge sense of relief and leapt after the other fae. She could now make out Alya just barely through the smoke. But they were alive. She heard one of them saying something and only caught "plains". Nodding, she dashed out after them, coughing and trying to get away from the smoke.
