Athabasca's ears lay flattened against her skull as the wind whipped in all directions across the torn, cloudless land. Her crystalline eyes scanned the area for any sign of prey and she lifted her maw to the sky, drawing in the air and tasting it for scent.
Deer!
Breathing in deeply, she savored the scent in her mouth and looked around thoughtfully. It was hard to tell where the scent had traveled from; the wind in this place howled and swirled in all directions at once, but Athabasca could definitely pinpoint the origin of the prey-scent. Like a dark shadow on the sunny ground, the lone black femme stole across the land, following the scent of prey. The scent twisted and turned and faded in her mind and nostrils but returned, teasing and drawing her closer to the base of a large cliff.
This shouldn't be too hard.
Athabasca silently made her way toward a steep, worn path carved into the face of the cliff, most likely a deer trail. Her muscles rippled under her glossy black coat as she ascended the cliff cautiously, taking her time so that she did not cast any stray pebbles down to alert the nearby prey.

Finally Athabasca was at the top of the cliff. Checking the air for scent once more, she was delighted to find that it was even stronger and fresher here. Dropping to the ground, the femme slithered through the long grass on her belly, like a venomous black snake. Athabasca peered through the greenery and at the world outside, hoping to catch a glimpse of a deer or two. What she saw made her heart race and her mouth began to water.
Three deer! This is sure to impress Exodus.
Taking careful note of the location of the deer, Athabasca surveyed the surrounding landscape. The cliff she had scaled appeared to make a sharp turn and double back in the same direction, creating a thin plateau which was perfect for what Athabasca had in mind.
Chuckling softly to herself, Athabasca slowly crept out of the bushes and toward the small herd of deer. A small female was the first to see the black demon stalking toward them, and turned to sprint away, but Athabasca was quicker, cutting off the deer's escape route and driving all three of them close to the edge of the cliff. Barking and snarling at the hoofed beasts, Athabasca darted from side to side, preventing the deer from running away.
It's working!
Setting the last step of her simple plan in motion, Athabasca ran straight for the small group. The terrified deer turned to flee but found that the ground had disappeared beneath them. Hooves churning in the air hopelessly, two of the deer plummeted to the bottom of the cliff while another, a buck, sprinted away safely. Athabasca watched him go with a grim sneer on her face before slinking over to the edge of the cliff to admire her broken kill laying motionless below her. Athabasca threw back her head and gave a long, triumphant howl of victory and satisfaction and trotted back into the long grass to descend the cliff face.
